Re: Missing Children in Portugal
Repeat for Spain and you get 10 results.
In fact two are duplicates, so 9
Top two are dead, but they can't find the bodies, father already in prison
All the rest have been 'ABDUCTED" by parent., or in one case an aunt.
And this is over the last 10 years.

Re: Missing Children in Portugal
Tut. tut! Of course it's a very low number of 'abductions'!
Aren't you forgetting the Swedish interview? Since 3/5/07 the number of abducted children has decreased and we have to thank the McCanns for their sacrifice.
As Kate said in the Amsterdam interview re the neglect 'it's a cross I have to bear'. (it was translated as a 'burden' ). So remember, they are suffering on behalf of us - and there's me thinking it had something to do with the New Testament. All along it's been this desperate duo suffering so that we can have safer lives.
It would be funny, Kate and Gerry - if only there wasn't a dead child involved. We here never forget that.

Quite so.tigger wrote: So remember, they are suffering on behalf of us - and there's me thinking it had something to do with the New Testament. All along it's been this desperate duo suffering so that we can have safer lives.
In their favourite book the chap involved gave his own life, so that everyone else should live.
In their version it is their daughter who gives her life.
Very Old Testament. Remember the story of Abraham and Isaac ? Human sacrifice of the first born. It appears again and again through the book.
Actually, on re-reading that, JC did not give his own life, his father did it. So the theme of a parent sacrificing a first-born child still resonated even in the New Testament.
Thank God I'm an atheist !

Hallelujah to that PeterMac!!!
Apologies for wandering off topic but there is a very funny stand-up comedian on YouTube called Pat Condell who posts regularly on the insanity of organised religion. Here's a link to one of his monologues - God the Psycho.

Back to the McCanns, I still have a very nasty feeling that they will end up with some kind of award for their services to child protection (I'm not joking alas) and / or being made patrons of a children's charity.

Morning Jean, I think if they are given an award to child services or made patrons of a charity, I really think some kind of march or demonstration would be in order!
Still off topic (sorry!) but did anyone watch The Syndicate on TV on Tuesday night? There was a scene where a child was left in a hotel room alone and when the mother went back she was gone. She came running out of the room shouting "they've taken her!" Won't give away the story in case anyone has it taped and hasn't seen it yet, but it was an interesting storyline.
