Because the McCann's are able to turn the news off or on at their choosing. Like a tap, they control the flow: a drip-drip or a torrent.

So what you are saying is that the McCanns have almighty power and are protected by an all powerful group of people?
There is no such thing as a perfect cover-up, think I read somewhere, they may get away with the crime , but it's always the cover-up that is the downfall, or words to that effect.
Such as the info on Margaret Hodge, a brilliant piece of research I though maybe can add to it!

In terms of media reporting in the UK they do seem able to dictate what can and can not be reported, even down to photographic images.
