OH, UP YOURS, SENOR
OH, UP YOURS, SENOR
Tony Parsons 29/10/2007
Portugal's ambassador to Britain, Senor Antonio Santana Carlos, says that the Madeleine McCann case has seriously damaged relations between the two countries. Well, whose fault is that?
It is the fault of the spectacularly stupid, cruel Portuguese police. I have never much cared for the convention of calling cops "pigs" or "filth", but I am happy to make an exception.
They have tried to cover their humiliation at coming nowhere close to finding that stolen child by fitting up her parents.
The decline in relations is also the fault of the appalling Portuguese media, happy to print any piece of poisonous trash spoon-fed to them by "police sources" treating the abduction of a small child as light entertainment.
And the Portuguese public must also take their share of the blame. The sight of locals jeering at Kate McCann as she went in for questioning made me feel as though these leering bumpkins were not from another country, but another planet.
And the good ambassador can also be blamed for the decline in relations.
When he should be exercising a little diplomacy, he huffs and he puffs about the McCanns' tragic decision to leave their children sleeping alone on the night Madeleine was stolen.
"In Portugal we have the concept of a nuclear family," sniffs Senor Carlos. "That the families all live together."
They made a mistake, ambassador. Their lives have been wrecked. That is punishment enough, without your asinine, unwanted comments.
And I would respectfully suggest that in future, if you can't say something constructive about the disappearance of little Madeleine, then you just keep your stupid, sardine-munching mouth shut.

No wonder it's called the gutter press
I have seen this article before - I think there's a topic about disgraceful press coverage - but it still makes me want to scream. I wonder if Mr Parsons has changed his opinions at all with the passing of time.

Has it rattled her cage. Don't know what she says, not clicking the link. I only came across it this morning whilst looking for the Gotcha article in the Sun, and it brought up all xenophobic articles and thought I would post before one day it got whooshed.

It's as to be expected - she thought the article was terrible at first but now she doesn't. I think that Bren must have had a "road to Damascus" encounter with St Clarence (he's the patron saint of prisoners - honestly!) hence her complete u-turn on anything relating to the McCanns.

Re: OH, UP YOURS, SENOR
Bren refuses to speak to me on twitter or answer me when I ask what made her change her mind. Only answer ever was that she had time off last autumn and read the files and it became obvious that she had been wrong.
No info on what made her change her mind or not. Mind none of the pro "Trolls" can give a real answer just they know the McCanns are innocent folk that we are bullying and lying about. - Evidence doesn't come into it.

Re: OH, UP YOURS, SENOR
I know I might have stepped on some toes in another thread, but it is articles like this and complete idiot actions as making the conning couple core-participants that makes me say: Britain deserves the McCanns. The complete idiocy of all this is wearing me out to be honest. I hope Kate has him on her Christmas card list and send him every year one of those groups merry Christmas letters with a lot of whiny I-me-I, and follows it up in January with a letter to ask why he did not answer with a fat check.
ETA Don't get me started about Bren. Let's just say Bren and the McCanns deserve each other.

Ask Bren what exactly is it that is bullying? Give us an example of what someone has said and prove this with facts why this is bullying. Is she/he can prove this then I will accept it. As yet I have not had any Pro Mccann come up with any argument to prove their libel/bullying accusations...all they say is this.....internet trolls
I understand what you feel LJ, but never give up...this is what they want you to feel. The more ridiculous they are the more determined I am

'these are the same people now calling the UK police corrupt' (not litt. quote from blog)
errmm, because they have just been PROVED to be corrupt? With extensive coverage in the news and an official enquiry? And resignations?
Whereas mr. Parsons could not prove the Portugese police corrupt and therefore his remarks in the article are actually libel? Because there still is no evidence other than allegations from those who stand to gain by besmirching the reputation of an institution which has done nothing more than its legal duty.
