THE IMPORTANCE OF SAMPLE 3A
When Eddie and Keela were taken into apartment 5A, one of the areas both dogs alerted to was behind the sofa. These alerts were of huge significance. As a direct result of these alerts, a swab was taken and a sample - 3A - recovered. John Lowe (from the FSS) had this to say:
"However, all of the confirmed DNA components within this result match the corresponding components in the DNA profile of Madeline (sic) McCann. LCN DNA profiling is highly sensitive, it is not possible to attribute this DNA profile to a particular body fluid."

Yes he states that the cellular material couldn't be attributed to a particular bodily fluid, but given that Keela only alerted to human blood, and not other bodily fluids, and that DNA was present, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to deduce that it was human blood.
Firstly sample 3A:
"With respect to the trace evidence recovered behind the sofa all the confirmed
DNA components coincide with corresponding components in the DNA profile of
Madeleine McCann. "

From Saleigh Gordon's statement:
"With regard to the sofas, there were two on the right where you entered and another opposite the dining table - there was also a coffee table between the sofas. The sofa on the right when you entered by the patio door was situated against the wall and it does not seem possible to me that anyone could have passed behind the sofa."

From Paul Gordon's statement:
"I would say that it was next to the wall to prevent children from walking around it, but beyond saying that it was blue, I can not affirm anything else."
From Gerry McCann's arguido statement:
"Regarding this sofa, he remembers it was next to the window."
"When confronted with the fact that Madeleine's DNA was collected from behind the sofa and in the boot of the vehicle and analyzed by a British laboratory, situations also described before, he says that he cannot explain.
--- When asked if on any occasion Madeleine was injured, he says that he has no comments."

"As regards the living room sofa, next to a curtain, he cannot be sure whether the sofa was against the wall."

Taken from a report by Chief Inspector Tavares de Almeida to Goncalo Amaral:
"Not less relevant is the refinement of the results that point towards Madeleine's DNA as being present at the apartment 5A behind the sofa, a place marked by the cadaver and the blood dog. In every place marked by the blood dog it was confirmed there was DNA."
"Such markings, occurred behind the sofa of the living room (cadaver and blood odour/DNA), which proves that indubitably such piece of furniture was pushed back by someone, after the death of Madeleine McCann occurred. Because of the weak (small) vestiges recovered at such place, it is to admit as a strong hypothesis that the same was subjected to a wash, at the time the death occurred."

...and finally, from Goncalo Amaral's book The Truth of The Lie chapter 18:
"One afternoon, we drive to apartment 5A at the Ocean Club. I am accompanied by Guilhermino Encarnação, the indefatigable Polícia Judiciária Director from Faro, who is following every step of the investigation, with daily trips to Portimão. José Freitas of Scotland Yard is accompanied by Stuart Prior, to whom we explain the theory of an accident. According to Encarnação, the child's death must have resulted from a fall behind the sofa, where the dogs marked the odours of cadaver and blood. The theory is simple and based on evidence in our possession. The parents would have pushed the sofa away from the window as a safety precaution because the window opened easily and it was situated, remember, three metres above the outside pavement. When Gerald went to the apartment at around 9pm to check on his children, used the toilet and then left, Madeleine might have woken up. Hearing her father's voice coming from the street outside, she may have tried to reach the window by climbing on the sofa and could have fallen behind it. Stuart indicates that he understands and agrees with the possibility."

So it is clear that sample 3A was not only significant, but that it was a line of inquiry that was forming a hypothesis. Eddie and Keela were absolutely correct to alert; if indeed the sample did belong to Madeleine, then the critical question had to be - just how did Madeleine's blood get behind the sofa.
1. Had the sofa been against the wall, then how could Madeleine's DNA be behind it?
2. If the sofa wasn't against the wall, and Madeleine's DNA was present, then why was the sofa later moved against the wall, thus covering an area that upon the apartment being searched, both dogs alerted to?

The failure to acknowledge sample 3A as compelling evidence of Madeleine's fate suggests the UK police blatantly quashed any evidence that would have implicated the McCanns.
