PJ forensic experts are travelling to the rural district of Aljezur today to investigate the macabre discovery of human remains near a ruined farmstead.
According to national tabloid Correio da Manhã, the remains - part of a jaw with teeth attached, and bones that appear to be part of an arm - were discovered ‘accidentally’ in an area known as Forno da Cal.
The town’s archaeological association contacted police, said the paper, as the question now is whether the remains are recent, or historic.
A source from the Associação de Defesa do Património Histórico e Arqueológico de Aljezur told the Resident today that the bones were found ‘about a kilometre’ from an excavation site, by a farmer herding sheep.
The farmer communicated his discovery to the association, which is why it has become involved.
“We don’t know anything yet”, said the source. “Police (PJ) are coming later today to investigate, and then perhaps we will get answers”.

RENE HASEE 6 (German) - Amoreira beach near Aljezur, Algarve (Portugal) - 09/06/96

Renè Hasèe was six when he disappeared from the Amoreira beach near Aljezur on June 19, 1996.
This tragic young German boy 6 years old vanished from a beach in the Algarve, while out walking with his parents. His mother and her partner said he ran into some dunes and that is the last known sighting of young Rene, who has 'vanished from the face of the earth'. That despite a massive search, which yielded not one single clue, his mother and her partner were not suspects and to this day not one single piece of information has emerged from anywhere (to our knowledge).
Rene Hasee is a little boy from Germany who disappeared in the Algarve in 1996 and is still missing.

11 years ago the family B. from Bergheim-Elsdorf (NortRhein-Westphalen) were on holiday in Aljezur. That town is about 34 km. away from the recent place of crime (Praia de Luz). Postmistress Anita B. (37), her partner Peter and little son René (6) drove down to the Portugese coast in a camper.
The Postmistress: "We had eaten something and were walking to the beach:" René (6) went 20 meters before his parents. Anita B: "Suddenly our boy was as if disappeared from the earth".
Immediately the parents informed the police. Mother Anita: "The policemen have only taken the information. They have not searched once for our boy."
Nor Interpol nor the German police could help the desparate parent. Until today Anita and Peter drive to the Algarve once every year, to look for their son. René would be 17 years old today. Grandmother Irmgard B.: "My daughter is still regularly dreaming of René."
At first it was thought the report was wrong because the German report says surname begins with B and Renè's surname is Hasèe. However, further searches indicated that his mothers surname starts with B. and she was on holiday with her boyfriend - not her husband - even though several reports refer to 'the parents'. There is a possibility that this was a planned parental abduction as in so many other cases.

Re: "Human remains discovered beside Aljezur ruin"
I must confess I'm extremely surprised that the usual suspects in certain newspapers seem to have ignored this news. At the time of posting none of the papers which have been dredging up any old story that could be linked to the McCanns in the past few weeks ( dead paedophile, Gerry's medical discovery, ancient comments by Karen Matthews, Mark W. Thomas' new/old theory, Katie Hopkins rant of the day etc.) has reported the discovery of human remains in the Algarve. I would have imagined they would be salivating at the prospect of reams of copy about the effect this has on the poor parents as they wait for information. Very odd I feel.

Because, 'possibly'?

Interesting research on the phone record pings around that area for anyone interested collated by HIDeHo. The remains may be nothing to do with Madeleine but this information is worth a read.

Re: "Human remains discovered beside Aljezur ruin"
I found a map online of the Algarve area last night. Apparently there are three children listed as missing from this region. British Madeleine, German Rene, does anyone know who the other one is?

Natasha Donn tweeted last night that they were adult teeth, with a fully developed arm bone and of no connection to the McCann case.

I've never heard of this little German boy. Why have the parents not started an international campaign and European tour, and got lots of celebrities involved?

Aljezur bones: “a woman”, says PJ as forensics now probe age
The mysterious bones discovered in a remote site near a ruined farm in the Aljezur hillside recently have been recovered by judicial police forensic experts and are now being tested for their age.
As a spokesman explained: “They could be six months old, six years or even 60. We don’t have the answers yet”.
All police appear to be sure of this far is that the bones belong to a woman.
As to any missing women in the area, our PJ source said this is not yet a matter under investigation.
“First we have to discover whether these are recent bones”, he explained. “Once we have that information, investigation into missing people may then go ahead”.
The bones were discovered at an abandoned farmstead by a man herding sheep who communicated his discovery to Aljezur’s archeological association, undertaking excavations at a site “around a kilometre” away (click here).
