Re: Christmas Message from Kate
Please, no more messages from them.
Two police forces are now working on Maddie's case, do we really need to hear from her parents any longer?
I think it would have been nice if they had taken the opportunity to tell the World that they have put any monies from the fund into the public purse to help the Police forces look for their daughter. I might have been interested in hearing from them then.

Re: Christmas Message from Kate
Interestingly, now that the message from Kate is using the splash page as well as featuring in the updates, and given that they have seen fit to not update their own suspects page whilst doing the Christmas message update, there now appears to be no reference whatsoever to the gallery of Scotland Yard latest suspects - Smithman etc - and only proper on-page reference to Tannerman / Crecheman and spooky man and Victoria Beckham.
The arrogance / absurdity of it all is astonishing!

Re: Christmas Message from Kate
"It would still be a comfort if we could slow time just a little."
That leapt out at me as a very odd sentence.
A comfort to slow down time? Why? They have every hope she will be found. Why not speed up time - that would surely be more comforting.
And if slowing time is a good thing why only "just a little"?
And why "comfort"?
One feels as with many of their statements that this is full of some hidden meaning. What it might be is difficult to say but it doesn't sit with their other statements. Also, there is a sense here that they are just surfing events that they have no role to play. This seems to go against everything they used to say about publicising the case, and actively searching for MMcC.

Not "a little girl" ... So I see progress.
Progress indeed, Chatelaine - and not just their daughter, but their 'dear' daughter.
Having made reference on the very morning of the McCanns' update to their 'relief' https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t8769-well-here-it-is-merry-christmas-or-is-it could it be that I have the gift of prescience, or is that the first thread I have created on this forum had the effect of a stone thrown into a still pond and caused a far-reaching ripple to serve as a timely reminder that an outstanding item on their 'to do' list required immediate attention?
On balance, I'll chalk this one up to the Christmas mail dates rather than ascribe it to the hawk eyes of TM's internet monitors as it seems probable that, having become accustomed to life in the first class lane, the sight of a second class stamp on mail delivered to Rothley Towers would offend the delicate sensibilities of K&G.

Perhaps the reference to slowing down time is a hint to the other involved parties about how to respond to questions from the police, should the police decide to pay a visit and conduct interviews? "Slow time just a little".... ie...when whatever you were doing was noted or reported... make it a little earlier...?

Christmas 2013
This year seems to have passed particularly quickly - a sign undoubtedly of a very busy year. It would still be a comfort if we could slow time just a little. Thankfully however there have been some very positive aspects with regards to Madeleine. Iwould have opened with this sentence. The year passing quickly when you are waiting for positive news ? I've always found time to drag in such a case. The Metropolitan police review becoming an investigation and more recently, the reopening of the case in Portugal. We are incredibly relieved and buoyed by these developments and continue to hope for further collaboration neat sentence leaving just enough of a hint that TM are still in the looplin the near future with the possibility of a JIT (joint investigation team) between Portugal and the UK to enhance the search for our dear daughter. so the search does appear to have gone on, 'enhanced' is a strange word to use, as if it's being decorated. Surely intensified or expanded would have been a better expression imo. Unless the search is an abstract concept that needs to be enhanced, thus making it more attractive.
Once again we would like to thank all our supporters for their commitment to Madeleine and their ongoing support of our efforts. Please spare a thought and prayer for all families similar to ours who will be unable to share this Christmas with a special loved one.
We wish you a wonderful Christmas and a happy and peaceful 2014.

No Gerry?
To slow down... perhaps they are scared, aren't they?
And they are the ones who insisted in a review/investigation.

Mmmm, maybe they are doing things on a separate basis lthis year!
Slow down - to decrease in the speed at which something is moving or happening
Too late for that Kate.

Re: Christmas Message from Kate
I think they are terrified. And I don't think they insisted on the review / investigation. I think they got word that the case was going to be investigated by SY and belatedly issued a notice asking for the investigation to happen. I think they'd already found out it was going ahead and needed to give the impression it was their idea. I don't actually believe it was their idea at all.
Yes, it's interesting that the Christmas message is only from Kate, and not from Kate and Gerry. I wonder if that's at all meaningful.
ETA - this isn't my idea exclusively - I remember someone else on this forum making the same point, based on reading documents based on FOI requests. Was it Tony Bennett...? Apologies for not attributing this.

Has anyone actually seen or heard from Gerry since Crimewatch aired? I know Kate did her gala for Missing People, but don't recall any appearance or statement from Gerry since. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.

"Please spare a thought and prayer for all families similar to ours who will be unable to share this Christmas with a special loved one." Kate McCann, Christmas Message, 2013.
Come on forum guys, picking Katie's message to pieces, where's your Christmas spirit ? (Little squeaky voice...... It's in the cupboard under the stairs so the vicar doesn't find it )
No seriously, it's very nice of Kate to ask us to spare a thought and prayer for all families similar to theirs, although I can't imagine that there would be many families really that would fit their criteria.
I mean, who else abandoned their three kids to get their faces round the liqueur, who then made up a humungous story about abduction which the 're-opening of the investigation' they personally called for, has announced as null and void, and indicated therefore that they must have concealed the fate of their own 'dear daughter'.
Are there many families like that?
So what on the face of it looks like a really generous thought, is actually very limiting in its reach.
Wouldn't it have been nice if Katie, taking advantage of her celebrity appeal status, had wished for a Christmas prayer for all the other families who have lost children but not in a fashion similar to the McCanns.
Once again, the musical notes of their mantra ooze out as if from the open wounds of their message, so altogether now, sing along now with..... 'me, me, us.... me, me, us.... me, me, us, us.... me, me, us.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE

My grandparents always used to say that the years pass more quickly the older you get. It certainly feels that way. I still dream of being able to stop time. Our only alternative however is to continue doing as much as we can to the best of our ability to enhance the search for Madeleine. So that is what we’ll do.

Re: Christmas Message from Kate
There are 7 refs to a plural we/our. There should logically be two names at the end.
There are errors of grammar and style- wise it is messy. A rare personal message on an official site imo should be crafted with care and proof-read.
"regards " are good wishes, it should read " with regard to Madeleine"
As for the cryptic sentence about slowing down time, why would it STILL be a comfort? Has Kate made a remark like this before to her readers? And why comfort? There is no clarification of why she feels this way, so whoever is reading is meant to understand its meaning. I would expect to read the opposite here, given that there is, according to the media, a hunt for Madeleine.
Perhaps a sentence such as " No matter the speed at which things appear to be moving and the mental fatigue we experience due to this, we need to know what happened to our beloved daughter and so that time can't come soon enough. For that reason we need to stay strong and have to hope that the momentum is the same next year and we will receive the good news we long for, that our dear Madeleine is found and comes back where she belongs, at the heart of this family."
Is Kate commenting on the speed of developments this year, maybe she would prefer that the libel case and Grange developments had not been simultaneous ?
Bobbin , re your quote "Please spare a thought and prayer for all families similar to ours who will be unable to share this Christmas with a special loved one." Kate McCann, Christmas Message, 2013.
I did not want to post what I would have advised a student, had I proof-read this item, because it would be churlish and nit-picking, however I will comment on the above. It would be better and more appropriate to say something more like " Please keep all families with missing loved ones in your thoughts and prayers at this special time of year "

Another one who wanted time to stand still was Faustus.
Ah Faustus,
Now hast thou but one bare hour to live,
And then thou must be damned perpetually.
. . .
The stars move still, time runs, the clock will strike,
The devil will come, and Faustus must be damned.
O I’ll leap up to my God! Who pulls me down?
See, see where Christ’s blood streams in the firmament!
One drop would save my soul, half a drop: ah my Christ—
Ah, rend not my heart for naming of my Christ;
Yet will I call on him—O spare me, Lucifer!
. . .
Earth, gape! O no, it will not harbor me.
You stars that reigned at my nativity,
Whose influence hath allotted death and hell,
Now draw up Faustus like a foggy mist
Into the entrails of yon laboring cloud,
That when you vomit forth into the air
My limbs may issue from your smoky mouths,
So that my soul may but ascend to heaven.
. . .
O God, if thou wilt not have mercy on my soul,
. . .
Let Faustus live in hell a thousand years,
A hundred thousand, and at last be saved.
. . .
Cursed be the parents that engendered me:
No, Faustus, curse thy self, curse Lucifer,
That hath deprived thee of the joys of heaven.
. . .
My God, my God, look not so fierce on me!
. . .
Ugly hell gape not! Come not, Lucifer!
I’ll burn my books—ah, Mepistophilis!
Re: Christmas Message from Kate
I found the following section of the message particularly heartwarming:
No? Oh that's right, the little girl that's missing, but may be unharmed, and who is now old enough to surf the internet doesn't warrant a direct message at Christmas.
My Dearest Daughter Madeleine, I'm so so sorry that I wasn't there to protect you. There's not a single day that goes by where I don't miss you with every fibre of my being. I love you so much and I swear to you that I, personally, will search for you every day until I find you. Stay strong. Your loving Mummy

Kate McCann left babies alone in an apartment night after night whilst she went on the piss. There is no goodwill in the world for a child abuser like her. It cost one of the children their life. Shame on you, you'll get 25 years in Holloway for that plus a whole lot of new pals who will know how to meter out your punishment. Christ it doesn't look good for you and your swinging husband. There is no goodwill for you and your supporters don't exist.

Kate knows that a Christmas message is needed to keep face. All her loyal supporters expect one.
But she can't put any heart into it. The rug has been pulled out from underneath her feet and even she is having to acknowledge that now.
Their faces in that photo with AR show they know they are out of the loop. They have lost control, it's now in the hands of those whose business it is to find the truth, and the truth is, the McCs know that that's the one thing they don't want the police to find out.
They can't have known at the time (May 2007) or at least didn't factor it into their calculations and story telling, that the files would be made public and that the internet would intercommunicate as it has done, picking over their washing, out on the line, for all to see.
What might have been loose and incoherent spewings from their so called intelligent doctor friends (arrogant in their belief that 'foreigners and their third-world thick and dozy cops ' would be too stupid to get the act together) have been analysed, cross correlated to such a degree that any inconsistency has been shown up for what it is.
And it's all on the record.
Nowhere much to go from here on, K and G.
Cows coming home to roost, chickens counting next week's eggs, the cat's lost the bag it wants to get back into, everything has gone awry. It's downhill now, and they know it.

Literally, in the case of Kate's pants.
I think you're all reading too much into it. She's not exactly blessed on the literary front (ye gods, we have all seen her form in this area) so expecting her to string a few coherent sentences together, devoid of "McCannisms", was always going to be a big ask.
I would take it at face value - deleted

Madeleine, if you read this, you can contact us via your Fund by clicking on the donate button and leaving a small amount of money and then in the messages box, tell us where you are . . .
Then when the money has been processed through the system and is cleared in the fund we can tell some private detectives to have a look at the evidence and try to find you.
