I think it would have been nice if they had taken the opportunity to tell the World that they have put any monies from the fund into the public purse to help the Police forces look for their daughter.  I might have been interested in hearing from them then.

A comfort to slow down time?  Why?  They have every hope she will be found. Why not speed up time - that would surely be more comforting.

And if slowing time is a good thing why only "just a little"?

And why "comfort"?

One feels as with many of their statements that this is full of some hidden meaning. What it might be is difficult to say but it doesn't sit with their other statements. Also, there is a sense here that they are just surfing events that they have no role to play. This seems to go against everything they used to say about publicising the case, and actively searching for MMcC.

This year seems to have passed particularly quickly - a sign undoubtedly of a very busy year. It would still be a comfort if we could slow time just a little. Thankfully however there have been some very positive aspects with regards to Madeleine. Iwould have opened with this sentence. The year passing quickly when you are waiting for positive news ? I've always found time to drag in such a case.The Metropolitan police review becoming an investigation and more recently, the reopening of the case in Portugal. Surely intensified or expanded would have been a better expression imo. Unless the search is an abstract concept that needs to be enhanced, thus making it more attractive.

Once again we would like to thank all our supporters for their commitment to Madeleine and their ongoing support of our efforts. Please spare a thought and prayer for all families similar to ours who will be unable to share this Christmas with a special loved one.

My grandparents always used to say that the years pass more quickly the older you get. It certainly feels that way. I still dream of being able to stop time. Our only alternative however is to continue doing as much as we can to the best of our ability to enhance the search for Madeleine. So that is what we’ll do.

ABOUT time, she has already written. One wonders: she wants to stop time in order to remain in the situation. Or she just do not want to be older?

No seriously, it's very nice of Kate to ask us to spare a thought and prayer for all families similar to theirs, although I can't imagine that there would be many families really that would fit their criteria.
I mean, who else abandoned their three kids to get their faces round the liqueur, who then made up a humungous story about abduction which the 're-opening of the investigation' they personally called for, has announced as null and void, and indicated therefore that they must have concealed the fate of their own 'dear daughter'.
Are there many families like that?
So what on the face of it looks like a really generous thought, is actually very limiting in its reach.
Wouldn't it have been nice if Katie, taking advantage of her celebrity appeal status, had wished for a Christmas prayer for all the other families who have lost children but not in a fashion similar to the McCanns.
Once again, the musical notes of their mantra ooze out as if from the open wounds of their message, so altogether now, sing along now with..... 'me, me, us.... me, me, us.... me, me, us, us.... me, me, us.

There are errors of grammar and style- wise it is messy. A rare personal message on an official site  imo should be crafted with care and proof-read.

"regards " are good wishes, it should read  " with regard to Madeleine"

As for the cryptic sentence about slowing down time, why would it STILL be a comfort? Has Kate made a remark like this before to her readers? And why comfort? There is no clarification of why she feels this way, so whoever is reading is meant to understand its meaning.  I would expect to read the opposite here, given that there is, according to the media, a hunt for Madeleine.
Perhaps a sentence such as  " No matter the speed at which things appear to be moving and the mental fatigue we experience due to this, we need to know what happened to our beloved daughter and so that time can't come soon enough. For that reason we need to stay strong and have to hope that the momentum is the same next year and we will receive the good news we long for, that our dear Madeleine is found and comes back where she belongs, at the heart of this family."

Is Kate commenting on the speed of developments this year, maybe she would prefer that the libel case and Grange developments had not been simultaneous ?
