Hi ShuBob, one has to be optimistic, otherwise, we've all wasted over 6 years of our lives searching for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, whatever that may be. Yes, there's been ups and downs, and based on what we know, there does appear to have been a cover-up, for whatever reason. But, IMO, the fund was there for a reason and one reason only, To pay for big backers, and to sue anyone who wanted truth and justice.ShuBob wrote:We may be a rare breed sallypelt but like you I'm optimistic.sallypelt wrote:Tony, I am feeling cautiously optimistic. Although, during the interview, the McCann's names were never mentioned, the person giving the interview spoke as if he was speaking about certain people. I found that statement rather telling.Tony Bennett wrote:How very helpful of themsallypelt wrote:BBC explaining "Cell Dump" now, on TV

Jerry Lawton has tweeted a fair bit today. Is someone able to copy and paste it here please. I've got my hands full and can't do all the necessary editing.

I have always had faith in SY and that they would bring whoever was responsible for Madeleine's disappearance to justice. However there is one niggle, call me cynical, but releasing this info, slap bang in the middle of a libel trial, and just when Mr Amaral's witnesses are about to give evidence??

Reading Jerry Lawton's tweets, I get the distinct feeling that things are not going the McCanns' way. Pay particular attention to how he reports the couple's impending Crimewatch appearance.

Yes CandyFloss - Its so obvious isn`t it. Goodness knows how the Judge can focus her mind on the relevancies of the trial with all this going on - she must have been made aware.
Regarding the Crimewatch reconstruction - It would have to be done with the light levels the same as they were on the 3rd May. I don`t know when lighting up time was on 3rd May, but there must be a corresponding day in the Autumn. There`s no point doing a reconstruction at all if they don`t have the correct light levels.

The BBC is being so helpful in these 'troubled Brits abroad' cases, isn't it? Only a couple of weeks ago the Beeb broadcast a helpful documentary rubbishing the South African police case against Shrien Dewani not long after the millionaire murder suspect was found to have recovered sufficiently from his mental health problems to face trial abroad.

Does anyone know if the reconstruction has already taken place? I can't help thinking back to May 2013 and the devastation on the faces of the McCann's. Did all the Tapas 9 go back? If so, this would have taken time to arrange, if they all had to be there. Also, could the reconstruction be the reason that Kate was in Portugal in July? So many questions, so few answers:dontgetit:aquila wrote:A libel trial in Portugal, an announcement re mobile phone checks from Scotland Yard, a BBC Crimewatch programme dedicated to the McCanns with a live studio appearance, the promise of some sort of reconstruction and a phone hacking trial about to begin in UK.

Where was GM off to, after the missed court hearing, with that beauty case he was tagging along?
And what was he transporting in it?
Any sightings of him jetting to Faro/Pdl by any chance?
Now, THAT would be good news!

Kate & Gerry have already agreed to stand shoulder to shoulder with detectives on the Crimewatch programme (whether live or pre-recorded I am not sure, presumably the latter).
The reconstruction has probably been done, is in the can, and was probaaly approved by the McCann Team weeks ago.
The only thing left to be decided was which Monday the Crimewatch programme was to be shown.
They have chosen 14 October. Why is anyone's guess.
All I want to say, and I acknowledge the optimism of sallypelt, ShuBob and many others, is that there must be a very very good professional reason for the police and the BBC to give us a Crimewatch special on Madeleine McCann 6 years and 5 months after her disappearance.
Just as there must also be a very very good professional reason for Scotland Yard to want to:
* interview 41 persons of interest
* examine 37,148 documents
* pursue nearly 4,000 'actions'
* pursue, in 31 countries, the ownership of thousands of cell phones (many of them pay-as-you-go) and the data on them
* establish a team based in the Algarve to conduct their ongoing investigations.
What is the purpose and premise of Crimewatch?
That someone watching will come up with the vital clue which will solve the crime.
So it remains to be seen exactly what they want the millions of people watching the programme to do

There weren't 10.000 people in PdL in the off-season. The village itself is small, the OC had around 4-500 spaces for guests? But not that many that week.
They'd have to include Lagos and the surrounding lawless villages to get to 10.000 in April 2003.
Those 14 texts sent to Gerry on the 2nd of May seems to be a bugbear. Shame that SY is specifically excluding sms messages. But it's all right, Gerry has stated time and time again that he didn't get those messages, at all, not at all. We're confusing them with all the messages he got on the 4th. Well, naturally - he had hundreds of messages then.
Errm, except he didn't, a lot but not hundreds. The antenna did however register those 14 messages on the second of May. The ones he never got, because they weren't sent. So there - and SY isn't going to look for them anyway, so that's all right then.
These releases are hitting a new low, every time I think they can't sink further in my estimation and by now I've set the bar so low that they have to dig a hole to clear it. Outdoing any limbo dancer.

The question to ask is when and precisely what date did the BBC agree to this Crimewatch broadcast. That would perhaps uncover a possible wretched strategy.Popcorn wrote:The BBC is being so helpful in these 'troubled Brits abroad' cases, isn't it? 9th August.
3rd May was 49 days before the day when the sun is at its highest in the northern hemisphere: 21 June.
49 days after that is 9th August.

ITV have said the parents will do an appeal this evening. That should be interesting.
Asfaras the reconstruction is concerned, the PJ reached that stage of the investigation 5 years ago, but were stymied by the refusal of the McCanns and the Tapas friends to co-operate. Are we to assume that Scotland Yard are laying on the private jet and 5* hotel they demanded, courtesy of UK taxpayers? Sarcasm aside, the whole lot of them will now face that which they have been avoiding since May 2008, and I would imagine telephone lines to lawyers will be pinging frantically in the coming days.
Scotland Yard can come up with all sorts of new theories, but the facts are as they are. Even if they 'clear' the mccanns and the tapas of all involvement, there is no guarantee that everyone involved will keep their traps shut for evermore. The mccanns are not popular now, not even among their friends, as we have seen by the feeble witness evidence in Lisbon this week, and the release of the private Amsterdam photos. There is at least one whistleblower in the camp, possibly more, as the investigation moves into an 'every man for himself' phase.
