Re: Ambersuz and Debbie gloat over the possibility that Tony Bennett will be in trouble from Carter-Ruck
Madeleine’s favourite ‘Cuddle Cat’ toy was ‘placed out of her reach’
According to a report in the Sunday Mirror, Kate McCann knew instantly that Madeleine had been abducted when she saw that the toy had been moved from her sleeping daughter’s arms and placed on a ledge way beyond the four-year-old’s reach.
Does it make sense for a kidnapper, who is in a hurry, to take the time to grab a toy and carefully place it on a ledge as Kate McCann suggests?

LadyBear wrote:Clarity Kate Mccann did say Cuddlecat was found on a high shelf, and Gerry did say it was left on the bed.
Absolutely categorically not.
The only source to the high shelf story was the 'un-named police source' who 'spoke' the the tabloids, there was no high shelf, neither of the Mccanns mentioned a high shelf, there was no such statement made by either of them. This is just another forum myth nonsense along with the thousands of other nonsense stories that people cling to for some reason.
Never happened.

Good lord, read the article, there was no quote from kate Mccann, the story about a high shelf came from an un-named police source, give me strength!

sym please engage brain before speaking, kate didn't give an interview, she wasn't sitting there with a reporter for gods sake.
this is a story cobbled together with leaks and rumours and printed in a tabloid, this is not factual
You are genuinely comparing a story quoting an un-named source with official statements, police statements and police photographs ... omg.

So why given she demanded an apology from Th N.O.W in 2008 has she not asked for them to retract? Are you being serious? Do you have any concept of the sheer quantity of false stories did the rounds in this case, do you think they have nothing better to do (and a massive pit of cash) than demand retractions from every single error, mistake or piece of guesswork, do me a favour, their child is missing, that is their priority, they can only tackle the stories that might be hugely damaging to Madeleine, not ones that anyone with half a brain or the ability to read the actual evidence files would discount as being irrelevant or just plain nonsense. they don't even fight all the damaging stories because it's not always cost effective to do that, if you factor in that only a certain percentage might believe what they read in a tabloid and compare that to the number of people who are just reminded of Madeleine's fate and measure what the cost in time and money it would be to fight it then most lawyers tell you to just cut and run and bite your tongue. besides at the end of the day despite the errors, rumours and just plain made up stuff the press were actually extrermely helpful in the early days in getting Madeleine's face out there so on balance maybe it cancels itself out ... somewhat depressingly.

The press were doing the exact opposite of watching their backs because of libel, that's exactly why they all got stung for .....committing libel, the Mccanns were too busy being grateful for any help they could get, the portuguese press was printing what it liked, the uk press couldn't get a story for love nor money due to judicial secrecy so lost the plot entirely and printed anything they fancied and whatever the portuguese press was going with, it was one of the darkest periods in uk press recent history and exposed just what they would do to feed the public appetite and to ensure they made a small fortune.
it is only since they got accused of libel and admitted it that the press have begun to act responsibly, in fact it might be argued that they are now nervous of anything Mccann related but that is not because the Mccanns are monsters or all powerful, it is directly because the press misbehaved and got caught out doing it.
You just have to read these articles carefully and check the wording, check who is quoted, double check where the quote marks are, the Mccanns very rarely spoke during that first year because they couldn't, most of what was printed and referring to them was later found to be untrue, the real question is, who was leaking these untrue stories and why?

Does it make sense for Kate to say that CuddleCat was on a shelf when there quite obviously is NO SHELF.

Witnesses saw no shelf, the police photographs record no shelf, both kate and gerry in multiple statements assert the toy was found on the bed but apparently an un-named 'police source' tells the daily mirror that the toy was left on a high shelf. Right, who do we all believe???
sadly it seems that a fair few people decided to believe an un-named, probably nonexistent source in the daily mirror rather than the evidence provided photographically and in official police statements.
This happened dozens of times and pointing out these sorts of errors got one banned from certain forums, I wonder why?
maybe they all worked for the daily mirror

We can work out that this came from Portugal, presumeably Gerry when speaking to his family was under the impression that the window shutter had been forced from the outside, an easy and straightforward assumption to make, however it turns out that when examined the window and shutters were opened from the inside and not damaged at all.

NOT ONCE.Sabot wrote:However, I think you have treated Debbie appallingly. You have quite deliberately, and on several occasions, said that she is not in her right mind.

Well Kates finger print was found on the outside ledge. if that is true ? Also why did the Mccanns need to hire PVT Detectives? Mr Brown offered them any services they required and we have plenty of people who would have readily helped

Information & Disinformation
Hello clarity.
First let me apologise to JATYK for my post being too long for them: in the case of evaluating the evidence in a missing child case, apparently, it should be all snappy one liners. Still.
I think you might agree that all these stories might have been easier to confirm or deny had the parents not used “cut-outs” to make everything deniable. I do not mean one spokesman answering questions openly on their behalf at press conferences. Mr Mitchell made a habit of answering a media question in his own name, following it up with another version to the same media outlet under the name “a source close to the family” and very often – and all this on the same day – a third version under the name “a pal.”
There is no doubt that the McCanns, using trusted interviewers, implied in the first few months that KM’s immediate certainty that it was an abduction derived from certain facts that she was not allowed to reveal because of the Portuguese secrecy rules and the risk that such information might help the abductor.
When they did speak on the record they said things like:
“I have no doubt in my mind that she was taken by somebody from the room,” says Kate. “We don’t know if it was one person, two, or if it was a group of people, but I know she was taken.”
When a person with a university education uses a phrase like that she does not mean “I think”; she is implying that she had knowledge, the same knowledge, for example, that enabled the interviewer to say, “This is the first time that the McCanns have confirmed that the apartment was broken into.” Adding, “this information does not compromise Madeleine’s safety, and rules out one of the numerous red herring theories that the police have explored, that Madeleine wandered away on her own. There is no logic in withholding it from the public.”
Implying, of course, that there was logic in withholding certain other information from the public. And we have Gerry McCann’s additional comment in a different interview but in the same context that “we wouldn’t tell you [certain things] if we did know."
We know now that KM did not have any evidence for her assertion that the apartment was “broken into.” Nor did her statements to the police as revealed in the case files contain any additional information that would have provided the certainty that she claimed.
And we know that a series of leaks – completely untraceable – in the tabloids suggested much later the cuddlecat stories and the imprint of the child on the bed as being the missing information that made her certain. Those stories were clearly planted to suggest that the police were saying these things - but the police had never been told those things, as the papers reveal.
In view of the game of cut-outs, leaks and deniabilty games that the parents quite clearly participated in, especially when their full legal team was assembled and began leaking what their defence strategy was going to be, I think one should be careful about accepting any of the stories and counter stories without, in every case, asking why they were leaked and who gained.
SYM's not stupid: she knows what the McCanns were playing at.

Kate McCanns print was found on the window, which of course is what you'd expect considering she stayed there for nearly a week but there were other prints, not all of which were identified, found on the window and shutter area. Who knows who else opened that window. Hopefully one day we will know.
Mr Brown? Do you mean the current Prime Minister, is he a detective now, how many cases of missing children has he been involved in?
