Blimey, never seen that before, the actual video the still pictures came from. Thanks Jill. What on earth could have been so funny on such a sad and solemn day? GM is positively laughing his head off. How could he........ how can someone who has just lost their child behave like that. Words fail me, they really do.
I believe a balloon had escaped under the feet of Alex woolfall and that was what the laughter was about. You can see the crowd smiling and hear them laughing as well. Look carefully at Kates face at the beginning. See that smile she has on her face? now watch very carefully as it disappears. Her face returns to sadness. They are allowed to smile occasionally, it would normally just be a moment. To not do so would be extremely suspicious IMO

OK watched it now thanks Jill.I agree with figaro-something had happened with the balloons but it looks as if the smiles soon faded. As I said before it is just one moment in time and I for one would not judge them on it but thats just me.

I believe that our legal policies and procedures are already being brought into line with Europe.
Michael Turner and Jason McGoldrick have now been in a Hungarian jail for 100 days without a trial date, and in deplorable conditions. They were deported by the UK without an extradition hearing, under the infamous Euro Arrest Warrant, and could be held for 2 years. The EAW, proudly piloted through the European Parliament by LibDem MEP Graham Watson and nodded into law by Westminster, effectively ends the famous protection in English law known as Habeas Corpus. This 800 year old legal principle ensures that Britons cannot be imprisoned without a judicial hearing – but is not part of European legal tradition.
Times are a changing - unfortunately.

Any explanation for the other myriad of smiles in the days after maddie was 'taken'? Can you imagine, jogging, eating lunch at the tapas, entertaining friends in the swimming pool and worrying about your tesco order after your child has been 'abducted' and presumably with a paedophile? What is the explanation for the photo of them in the photo where they are beaming with the twins?

Indeed marigold. Add to that the vid of GM laughing his head off on the balcony on May 7th - Four days after his toddler was snatched by a paedo (but came to no harm).

How did this not raise alarm bells? Your toddler goes missing, presumed abducted by a paedophile and within days you go jogging and within a week you admit to sleeping normally. You tell the world that she could be in the hands of a paedophile but there's no evidence that she has come to any harm.

I fail to see how any excuse as you put it is relevant, neither how their smiles, frowns or behaviour being picked apart plays any part in helping find her.

Doesn't that excuse just smack of desperation? They aren't just giving a watery smile but positively beaming. What are the excuses for all the other smiles and happy activities they indulged in and why are there people who support them and make these excuses. There are NO excuses. Their behaviour and speech is glaringly peculiar and suspicious in the extreme, I can't believe that some can actually think it's normal.

Was it one of Amaral's witnesses that said this, or was it the judge? And was it his conclusion, or was it his decision to treat the parents a suspects very late in the day that they are said to agree with?

Why do they need an excuse for smiling?
1) Are you saying that smiling is a sign that they found their daughter dead and disposed of her?
2) At what point (in days) would you deem it appropriate to smile if your child has been abducted.
3) Do you accept it's possible that any parent with a missing child may have smiled within a time-frame you find unacceptable but that you may not have seen this smile captured on camera.
4) At what stage do parents who have disposed of their children start to smile?
5) is a smile a voluntary/involuntary reaction.
thank you

Scotland Yard, and UK police in general would have treated the McCanns as suspects (in a non confrontational manner) as soon as they arrived at the scene.
The above doesn't specify whether they believed her to have been murdered by her parents or a third party.
The scene, in the UK, would have been treated in the same way, and with the same level of care as a murder scene from the moment of arrival.
My query is more on the witnesses interpretation of the UK polices policy for dealing with these sorts of crime. It obviously differs from that of the police who were first to arrive on the scene.

As I said vaguely, you need to read from page 1 on those tweets.
Paiva, the chief of police, certainly doesn't bring any third party into the equation.
