Madeleine's birthday is so hard says mother Kate McCann
KATE McCann has sent a heartfelt message to missing daughter Madeleine on the eve of her 11th birthday tomorrow, writes Tracey Kandohla.
STILL LOOKING: Madeleine's parents are not giving up on finding their now 11-year-old daughter[GETTY]
It reads: “We love you and we’re waiting for you and we’re never going to give up.”
Kate wants the world to know she still clings on to hope that Madeleine is found alive, despite British police being poised to dig up areas of the Portuguese resort where she vanished seven years ago.
A close friend of Kate and Gerry has revealed they have asked Scotland Yard to delay any ground searches in Praia da Luz until after they have “celebrated” the youngster’s special day, with a cake and presents at home in Rothley, Leicestershire.
Madeleine’s father Gerry said: “It is really hard. She won’t be here. It’s by far the toughest day of our year, every year. But we still have a birthday cake for her.”
Former GP Kate, 46, and heart doctor Gerry, 45, and their nine-year-old twins Sean and Amelie will also lay presents in Madeleine’s pretty pink bedroom which has become a shrine since she vanished nine days before her fourth birthday in May 2007.
Kate said: “The room’s absolutely the same but she might want to change it a bit now she’s a bit older!”
Kate’s uncle Brian Kennedy, 75, a retired teacher, who also lives in Rothley, said: “None of us expected to be in the same position, not knowing, seven years later.
"But we are grateful for all the support we’ve had from the public and our village, who along with us, never gives up hope.”

Oh dear, so it seems the mccanns ONLY want what they say I the papers and nothing about the search.and this--
"But we are grateful for all the support we’ve had from the public and our village, who along with us, never gives up hope.”
notice "our village", the mccanns didn't seem to have much support from "our village" at Madeleines Memorial
load of tosh

So the story involves four people.
Gerry - who lives in Rothley
Kate - who lives in Rothley
Tracey Kondohla - who lives in Rothley
Uncle Brian - who lives in Rothley
(Oh, yes, almost forgot. And Madeleine - who doesn't !)

Ahh - so that's why Redwood and his team flew straight back to the UK after what 48 hours. On K and G's say so.
Celebrated...... Celebrated that nothing was found/seen and SY are back on English soil more like.

As I said over on the "Digging" thread...
Kate and Gerry asking their pal Andy to delay digging until after Madeleine's birthday...
Either the Met delaying digging had absolutely nothing to do with Kate and Gerry, and it's pure spin that they're saying they asked for the delay and the Met agreed...
or, if they genuinely did ask the Met to delay... would this be to give friends over in Portugal time to move whatever it is they're afraid might be dug up? Now that the aerial photos have been taken and the ground surveyed? (an old trick, by the way)
IMO only, of course.
Were the Met and the PJ both aware that saying they were going to dig up certain areas around PDL would cause some discomfort among suspects? So they went through an elaborate show to prove they were serious, even to the point of hiring a helicopter to show that they were taking photos of certain areas of interest.
Cue Kate and Gerry pleading with them to delay digging until after they celebrate Madeleine's birthday.
The Met dutifully go home, promising to return at some later, unspecified time. All visible activity ceases in PDL.
And then (and this is all pure speculation on my part), someone goes to suspect areas and makes sure suspect material won't be discovered.
Except they're being watched and monitored and followed, unknown to them.
All sorts of interesting possibilities here.

Ask SY to delay searches really is a piss take.
From the couple who couldn't even be bothered to search for there own daughter on the night she 'vanished'.
As soon as there are some positive signs that the SY are finally searching after 7 very expensive years they want it delayed....
They want to celebrate, not find out what happened to there daughter (well they know what happened).
Perhaps they want another piss up. The same piss up they had night after night back in PDL neglecting those kids.

A close friend hmm well they either did ask or they didn't if they did then it is one of their last opportunities to make the public think they still have some clout with the authorities and also to try and gain more sympathy from the public oh those poor mccanns how can the police possibly dig on Madeleines birthday etc etc
if they didn't and they are making out they did and that is why the digging has not been started yet then scotland yard ought to come straight out and say so . Well actually no the mccanns have not requested that we delay digging due to Madeleines birthday the statement in the press is untrue .
though with the close friend bit it is another get out isn't it they could totally deny asking or just say their 'friend' was mistaken

Yes they asked Scotland Yard - no mention in the article of what the reply was though. I really don't think this Operation is run on the basis of Kate and Gerry's whim, or a (sorry to say it) dead person's birthday. This article shows they aren't giving up yet IMO, and they're not going down without a fight. I don't look at the Madeleine website but I imagine Tannerman is still there too. I hope SY have more up their sleeve than just trying to make the macs confess, because that isn't going to work. I can't see them cracking anytime soon.

“We love you and we’re waiting for you and we’re never going to give up.”
Not a spontaneous message, these were the words spoken by Kate when interviewed by Fiona Bruce of the BBC for the 7th anniversary, a 30 minute programme which was shown at least 3 following evenings at 8.30 p.m.
Are these reporters telling us that they have read a birthday card? I very much doubt that the Mcs would give any reporters access to something so intimate under the circumstances.
The reporters are imo simply quoting Kate's message as told to FB.

Canada12, I like your thinking. What better way to see who might crawl out of the woodwork. I hope the PJ are keeping their eyes wide open.

Thanks Hicks :-) We know the police do resort to outside-the-box tactics. They do over here in Canada, anyway. Fake contests with fake prizes awarded. "Mr Big" stings. Detectives planted in prison cells. There have been some very creative methods at work. Who's to say how creative SY and PJ have been?

This latest sickening 'heartfelt plea' seems to indicate desperation from the Mc Canns. Their behaviour is now absurd. Very encouraging though

Re: Madeleine's birthday is so hard says mother Kate McCann
There's always the possibility that the PJ have already found Madeleine's remains, and possibly the proof that (IMO) connects her death to Kate and Gerry.
And that they're just going through this process of high-profile advance notice of digging, etc., to see what Kate and Gerry will do and / or say.
If the PJ already have Madeleine's remains and they possibly have proof that Kate and Gerry knew about her death, then K and G just dug a huge hole for themselves by asking the Met to delay digging until after Madeleine's birthday, delivering presents and expressing their mantra that she's still alive.
IMO.

Are they taking the piss on SY or the Sun taking the piss on them ?
Thought they were desperate to find her as quickly as possible dead or alive ?
This 'delay the ground search' statement is taking the biscuit and I bet its the newspapers that is taking a poke at them because its not in quotation marks.
They mentioned nothing about the imminent dig..strange eh ! They are not raving about the progress at how delighted they're for a change.

Re: Madeleine's birthday is so hard says mother Kate McCann
If my daughter had been abducted, wild horses couldn't stop me from demanding she was searched for; ground dug, whatever it took.
Why would you want to spend another agonising birthday with no knowledge at all of what happened to your child? These birthdays are hardly precious moments-their daughter is missing! These moments should be incredibly painful! If it was me I would want to KNOW! Not celebrate a birthday, another birthday, not knowing. I'd be wanting to claw the earth with my bare hands to find what happened to my baby.
Kate has only recently said that it's the not knowing that's the worst thing (paraphrasing).
What a load of rubbish and another clear signal to me that they won't, in fact, be leaving stones unturned. This smacks of desperation, just not the kind the McCanns wish to portray.

Re: Madeleine's birthday is so hard says mother Kate McCann
I don't post very often but this has got me really riled! If that was my little girl who was missing I would want them looking for her, birthday or not. Obviously I would still be hoping she'd be found alive but I would want them to keep looking, maybe especially on her birthday. I don't think I'd still be 'celebrating' her birthday after 7 years though, it would be too painful for me, personally. However, if I knew she was dead, it would be good to have a remembrance of some sort on that day.
Someone has said on here before, it's as if K&G are playing the part of grieving parents, and not doing it very well. That is very clear to me with this latest statement (unless it is me who is odd!).

Delay the dig while people eat brithday cake and put presents at the Madeleine bedroom shrine? Madeleine may want to change the colour of her room? So much wrong here. My heart goes out to those poor twins.

Yup. And this from a couple of doctors. Who should normally be more concerned about things like sharing germs. Especially with at least one other child from the holiday group down sick with some sort of vomiting and diarrhea-like symptoms.
I agree the PJ could have incriminating items. And if they do - IMO it would have to point back to the parents / friends - because I don't believe any self-respecting abductor would bother packing a bag with the child's clothing or possessions if he was going to make off with that child.

Birthday cake and presents - 'she might want to change it [her bedroom] NOW she's a bit older!' - Now she is a bit older? This is a woman who has lost all sense of reality.
Gerry: Madeleine's birthday is the toughest day of OUR year.
The McCanns are sticking with their original story - Madeleine is a live, findable child, and will continue to do so until the bitter end. They have got no intention of giving up their Search (Fund) and will continue to 'create' information to steer suspicion away from themselves.

One theory I have held for some time regarding the matter of the toothbrush, relates to the deep clean that appears to have been undertaken at Apartment 5A. It is my opinion that a toothbrush was used to scrub the grout between the floor tiles behind the sofa to try and remove the blood.

Mine too. And, of course, it would have been poor Madeleine's brush they grabbed as the nearest one to hand, not their own. A bit like how no sensibility was displayed when ripping up her sticker book for the timelines. Complete supposition on my part, of course.
