the witnesses are shrewd. they know they will be told to stop by the judge

but they have said what they have said and it is on record.

So sorry I can't c/p - but saw a tweet that said Scotland Yard are only investigating abduction. Did anyone capture it? Didn't like the sound of that at all.

Madeleine's parents are already back in Vila da Luz when we receive photos taken on an area of the motorway: you can make out the figure of a little girl, who looks like Madeleine, accompanied by a couple. These images come from a CCTV camera on the motorway linking Lagos to the Spanish border. The McCanns are asked to come to Portimão in order to proceed to an identification. It's the end of the day. Kate Healy seems annoyed at coming back and made uncomfortable by the speed of the police car taking her. We are somewhat astonished by her reaction, as if she was not expecting to get her daughter back. The identification turns out negative.

Newspapers' press regulation plans rejected

Newspaper industry proposals for a royal charter on press regulation have been rejected, Culture Secretary Maria Miller has told the House of Commons.

She said the plans did not comply with some of the "fundamental principles" of the Leveson report on press regulation, such as independence and access to arbitration.

The alternative plans proposed by the government after cross-party talks would now be "improved", she added.

It could be unfortunate for the Mcs particularly if the Judge elucidates the meaning of shelving of the case and arguido status according to Portuguese law which is slightly different to what the Mcs have been spinning to the press.
