What was the rest of the quote ?
And from WIKI some lovely examples of this tendency . . .
In advertising
One of the most familiar examples of contextomy is the ubiquitous “review blurb” in advertising. The lure of media exposure associated with being “blurbed” by a major studio may encourage some critics to write positive reviews of mediocre movies. However, even when a review is negative overall, studios have few reservations about excerpting it in a way that misrepresents the critic’s opinion.
For example, the ad copy for New Line Cinema’s 1995 thriller Se7en attributed to Owen Gleiberman, a critic for Entertainment Weekly, used the comment “a small masterpiece.” Gleiberman actually gave Se7en a B− overall and only praised the opening credits so grandiosely: “The credit sequence, with its jumpy frames and near-subliminal flashes of psychoparaphernalia, is a small masterpiece of dementia.” Similarly, United Artists contextomized critic Kenneth Turan’s review of their flop Hoodlum, including just one word from it — "irresistible" — in the film’s ad copy: “Even Laurence Fishburne’s incendiary performance can’t ignite Hoodlum, a would-be gangster epic that generates less heat than a nickel cigar. Fishburne’s ‘Bumpy’ is fierce, magnetic, irresistible even… But even this actor can only do so much." As a result of these abuses, some critics now deliberately avoid colorful language in their reviews.[6]
In 2010, the pop culture magazine Vanity Fair reported that "we were the victims of reckless blurbing" for the television show Lost:
Mike Ryan had written that the show was "the most confusing, asinine, ridiculous —yet somehow addictively awesome — television show of all time." Naturally, the blurb hunters at ABC chose to abridge the quote ever so slightly. What appeared on TV screens was: "The most addictively awesome television show of all time" — Vanity Fair
Carl Bialik compiled a list in 2008 of 10 "egregious misquotes" of the previous year for Gelf Magazine. The list includes
Film: Live Free or Die Hard. Blurb: Jack Mathews, New York Daily News: "Hysterically...entertaining." Actual written line: "The action in this fast-paced, hysterically overproduced and surprisingly entertaining film is as realistic as a Road Runner cartoon."
Film: Norbit. Blurb: Michael Wilmington, Chicago Tribune: "Eddie Murphy's comic skills are immense."Actual written line: "Murphy's comic skills are immense, and Dreamgirls shows he's a fine straight dramatic actor too. So why does he want to make these huge, belching spectaculars, movies as swollen, monstrous and full of hot air as Rasputia herself — here misdirected by Brian Robbins of Good Burger, Varsity Blues and that lousy Shaggy Dog remake?"
Film: Paris, je t'aime. Blurb: Nick Schager, Slant Magazine: "Romantic, mysterious, hilarious. Thrums with sexy, stylish energy." Actual written line: "Most fine are those that strive to capture the swooningly romantic, mysterious atmosphere that's endeared so many to France's capital... the Coen Brothers' hilarious Metro-as-hell Tuileries ... cinematographer par excellence Christopher Doyle's Porte de Choisy, which thrums with the type of sexy, stylish, silly energy that Parisian dreams are made of."[8]

You know, for balance, that sort of thing.
And the PRAISE listed on the back cover of their new book, 'Looking for Madeleine', is indeed extravagant, and comes from some VERY IMPORTANT people.
However, above these one-word adjectives praising their book is this heading: 'Praise for The Eleventh Day' - that's their previous book on the 9/11 Twin Towers attack.
I've taken these five one-word items of PRAISE, which are about Summers & Swan's previous book ('The Eleventh Day'), from the back cover of 'Looking for Madeleine'.
'COMPELLING' - Robert Harris, Sunday Times NOTE: He writes for the Sunday Times, a RUPERT MURDOCH title
'MAGNIFICENT' - Andrew Neil NOTE: Andrew Neil used to be the Editor of the Sunday Times, a RUPERT MURDOCH title, and now hosts a daily politics show on SKY News, which is owned by RUPERT MURDOCH
'ESSENTIAL' - Wall Street Journal NOTE: This leading U.S newspaper is owned by RUPERT MURDOCH.
I wonder if there could be a connection with Summers & Swan's book having been heavily trailed in advance and promoted by SKY News, owned by RUPERT MURDOCH, and then serialised in the Sun, owned by RUPERT MURDOCH?
+++++++++++++++
ETA: The other two 'great men' who praised 'The Eleventh Day' were Daily Mail journalist and TV pundit Peter Hitchens, who described Summers & Swan's book as 'superb', and fiction writer Paul Theroux, who described it as 'fascinating'.
Good bit of sleuthing there. Looks like the root of the corruption is coming to light.
And remember on Richard D. Hall`s DVD the picture of an octopus in the top right hand corner as if it has control over all the participants.

loads on the internet re Kidman/Murdoch, at the moment anyway.
So Nicole and husband are godparents to Wendi Deng's and Rupert's two daughters, as baptised in Jordan.
Rupert's Sun seems to be the leading paper in all the McCann reporting and serialisation.
Rupert receives a favour from N. Kidman's now dead father, according the the comment above.
Tony Blair is a godparent to a Murdoch child.
Tony Blair was PM when the McCs went up.
Murdoch's editor, Rebekkah Brooks, best friends/LOL with David Cameron, persuades David to open a review, which then becomes an investigation, which has spent lots of UK taxpayers' dosh and looks everything like resembling a whitewash at the same time as clamping newspapers into a one-sided reporting headlock, threatening to place laws on journalists to control what they do and don't report, with recent Snowden/Guardian exposure of GCHQ's accessing, secretly, the emails/phone equipment of journalists to discover who their whistleblowers/ sources of info, are.
With Kidman the father just missing out on being investigated for paedophilia by the Australian services, by unfortunately dying, one wonders just how involved the Australian Rupert Murdoch is in any of the McC coverage in his papers.

NOTW editor 'spiked paedophilia scoop on Arthur C Clarke for fear of Murdoch'
MARTIN HICKMAN
Saturday 07 July 2012
The News of the World spiked an exclusive story exposing the science fiction writer Arthur C Clarke as a paedophile, according to a new book about life inside the newspaper whose closure was announced a year ago today.
In Hack, an account of his nerve-shredding days as a reporter on the News of the World and then the Sunday Mirror, Graham Johnson claims that although the NOTW prided itself on outing pederasts, editors made an exception for Mr Clarke because he was a friend of Rupert Murdoch.
Through BSkyB, the tycoon commercially exploited the futurologist's theory that satellites would be ideal for communications and praised him in public.
As a result, according to Mr Johnson, who by that time had been sacked by the NOTW and had joined the Sunday Mirror, a story by reporter Roger Insall about Mr Clarke's alleged abuse of adolescent boys was never published for fear of upsetting the proprietor.
Tipped off about the story, the Sunday Mirror sent Mr Johnson to Colombo, where he extracted an confession from the author that he paid boys for sex. "I have never had the slightest interest in children – boys or girls. They should be treated in the same way. But once they have reached the age of puberty, then it is OK," Mr Clarke was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror. "If the kids enjoy it and don't mind it doesn't do any harm … there is a hysteria about the whole thing in the West."
Mr Clarke subsequently denied he was a paedophile, saying: "The allegations are wholly denied." But he never sued the Sunday Mirror and died aged 90 at his Sri Lanka home in 2008.
Speaking to The Independent yesterday, Mr Johnson said: "Roger [Insall] said that because Arthur C Clarke was a mate of Rupert Murdoch, the editor wasn't having any of it and despite Roger getting a lot of evidence that Clarke was a paedophile they wouldn't publish it."
Yesterday, Phil Hall, the then editor, said: "I can vaguely remember that story. I do remember that Roger Insall worked on it and I remember it was not published. My only recollection is that the only reason we wouldn't publish it was because of legal reasons."
He said Mr Murdoch never asked him to spike stories. News International, publisher of the NOTW, made no comment.

Yes it does. For investigative journalists who have written the "definitive account' not to be able to respond to simple questions about shutters, windows, curtains, changes of story, points of entry, point of exit, window of opportunity, dogs, missing bags, smiling, laughing, let alone the reasons behind the changes of story and the downright LIES. . .
is very strange,
Or as we know - NOT very strange.
It must rank alongside the inability of the McCanns to write TB off as a nutter, and to refuse to dignify his pamphlet with a comment.
It must rank alongsire the inability of the Mccanns to write Dr Amaral off as merely incompetent and wrong.
But they didn't and can't
Because, as with Summers-and-rex-Swann, people are saying things which hit home, and are too uncomfortable for them all.
Now watch and wait. Something else is being prepared by someone else, and I have been allowed a sneak pre-view.

Yes indeed - the " Definitive account "
Definitive to whom?
I was going to buy this book but from where I'm reading I may as well read definitive accounts ranging from Kier Simmond to Lorraine Kelly.
The definitive account ( legally speaking ) is in the archived PJ files sitting alongside the AG's definitive account of the reasons for shelving the case.
It sounds as though their definition was arrived at by gossip and conjecture on blogs and websites.
I've done that, so await my next book on the matter. Once I've done the necessary plagiaring and trawling.
It will ceratinly get a nomination for the Pulltheotherone ( sorry the Pulitzer ) prize.
Like everything else in this wretched mess it appears to be no more than opinion. Just that.
Mine and everyone else's opinion is just as valid.
Difference is is that we can't get News Corporation to cough up the upfront cash.
p..s for our definitive analysers of 9/11 try this:
On your driving test in a mini you took a sharp left turn to drive the car between a ten foot gap.
The following day you are asked to put a very big articulated lorry through a fifteen foot gap.
You can drive alright but can you put the big lorry through the gap without smashing the wall
down or killing yourself in the process?
That's what the pilots on 9/11 managed to do.
All opinion though.

That's all well and good, but they have to have some motivation to give their previously good names to such patent, palpable garbage. I've heard it said that there are only two basic motivators in life - fear, and greed. So which is it with them?

Re: BOOK ALREADY HALF PRICE ON AMAZON ! !
Doing a google search for the book is quite interesting. There is the amazon listing for it, one article each from the express, Telegraph and one other paper I can't recall, and the rest of the results are criticism of the book. I don't think the book has had quite the impact the authors hoped, it doesn't seem that there's a lot of interest. I'm sure I also read that the book was going to be serialised in the Sun, now I don't buy that paper but I did see one in my local takeaway the other day and it wasn't in there. Does anyone know if it is a weekly thing or was I mistaken?

That's all well and good, but they have to have some motivation to give their previously good names to such patent, palpable garbage. I've heard it said that there are only two basic motivators in life - fear, and greed. So which is it with them?
I honestly think that they probably were paid heartily for it - and did not realise the extent to which there are people out there who would be critical. In other words, they didnt realise what they were getting themselves into. So probably greed.

jmo;
This 'book' WAS 'supposed' to 'coincide' with the 'final' libel case court 'summing up' in Portugal.
BUT the ENTIRE damned 'pesky' Portuguese Legal system 'conspired' to 'hamper/thwart' that!
Given todays 'news' that 500 HUNDRED UK police 'officers' were 'connected' to paedophilia IN the UK, i'd suggest DCI Mahogany's 'time' would be better 'spent' rooting out the CORRUPT, disgusting, fellow UK police 'officers' who were/are 'involved' in the disgusting 'acts' of child abuse, rape and paedophilia IN the UK!
"Dozens of the POLICE officers were jailed for depraved offences including child abuse and rape."
HOW MANY OF THESE DISGUSTING POLICE OFFICERS WERE 'EMPLOYED' BY THE METROPOLITAN POLICE, OF WHICH, DCI MAHOGANY, IS, I PRESUME, SO PROUD TO 'SERVE' IN?
Instead of TELLING the Portuguese Nation how to stop paedophilia in THEIR country!
"Remove the plank from your own eye", Mr DCI Mahogany, "before attempting to remove the speck of sawdust, from another's eye!"
