The television channel AMC Crime, produced by AMC Networks International Southern Europe, exclusively premieres next Tuesday, May 3, at 11:00 p.m., the documentary miniseries “Madeleine McCann: Prime Suspect”. Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the disappearance of the little girl, the production, made up of three episodes of one hour each, investigates Christian B, a German pedophile who became the main suspect for the police forces.
Three decades ago, Madeleine McCann disappeared from her bed in a vacation apartment in a tourist complex in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve (Portugal). The girl, who was 3 years old at the time, was never found. 15 years later, former detective Mark Williams-Thomas undertakes the first active British television investigation into Christian B and, in a world exclusive, reviews Christian B's statement.
The German authorities claim to have evidence that Maddie is dead and that Christian B is guilty of her murder, but they also admit that there are insufficient grounds to prosecute him. In the deepest dive into his involvement yet, Mark uncovers new and exclusive information: revelations about the mobile phone number linking Christian B to the scene of Madeleine's disappearance, and tracking down a known German pedophile with whom communicated.
In both Portugal and Germany, Mark follows all credible leads related to Christian B. He interviews top officers on both sides of the law and dives into the life and past crimes of the prime suspect, who communicates directly with Mark and he tells her what he was doing and where he was when Madeleine disappeared. Christian has an alibi who Mark tracks down and contacts exclusively.
Was this man responsible for Madeleine's kidnapping? The compelling revelations in this series bring viewers closer to the truth than ever before.
episodic synopses
"The Case Against Christian B". Tuesday, May 3, at 11:00 p.m.
Mark Williams-Thomas revisits the crime scene, where he was days after the disappearance, and examines evidence from German prosecutors who believe Christian B is responsible. A witness reveals that he fears he may have been in the prime suspect's motorhome when Madeleine was in it. Mark follows the trail of the videos that supposedly show the sexual abuse perpetrated by Christian B.
"Reviewing the Evidence". Tuesday, May 10, at 11:00 p.m.
Mark follows Christian B's movements in Germany after Madeleine's disappearance and visits the places where he committed child abuse, including the box factory where 8,000 child abuse files were found. In addition, he speaks exclusively with the father of Inga Gehricke, a 5-year-old girl who was kidnapped and also linked to Christian B. However, Mark then reveals a series of worrying weaknesses in both the phone evidence linking the suspect to the Madeleine's disappearance as in the credibility of a key German witness.
"Checking the alibi." Tuesday, May 17, at 11:00 p.m.
Christian B gives Mark a possible alibi, which he tests by tracking down this person. Also, he reveals that he had an affair over the holidays with an 18-year-old German girl the week of Madeleine's disappearance. Mark checks this alibi by locating the young woman and talking to her current partner. He continues to review the evidence from the German authorities and comes to his own conclusion at the end of the series.

If they have proof that Madeleine is dead, and that Bruckner killed her, how can they also claim there are not sufficient grounds to prosecute?

Both MW-T and Clarke are after the same thing.
MONEY and personal exposure.
MW-T was, very briefly, a junior detective though not to anything like to the extent he claims in his CV, much of which seems to be "mere Advertising Puff". (Carlill-v-Carbolic Smoke Ball Co)
Clarke wasn't. It is not clear whether Clarke ever had any formal training as a Journalist, which would have included being aware of the Codes of conduct

I learned about Mrs. Carlill and the Smoke Ball case w hen I was on a course, I can't remember what it was about. I couldn't take it seriously, there were some hilarious cartoons of this Victorian lady inhaling the Smoke Ball. I think this was around the time of Queen Victoria's son dying from 'flu.

This is all very fishy.
Back in February 2021, a new three part documentary was aired by Discovery+ channel .... 'Prime Suspect: The Madeleine McCann Case'
This has all been documented here on CMOMM in the past. The scheduled German show was the cause of much confusion, a new documentary was also announced to be aired in Germany much later in 2021, I recall delving into this and if I remember rightly the threatened new German documentary appeared to be nothing but the Discovery+ documentary scheduled to be aired in Germany sometime in 2021.
And now another documentary has been announced, again scheduled to be aired in Germany, this time to coincide with the anniversary of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
Mark Williams-Thomas' documentary has been talked about for months, no less by the man himself. Originally said to be a three part (?) documentary to be premiered on Channel 5, the threat never materialised resulting in more social media con-flab about when the show will be aired and by whom. Further hyped by Mark Williams-Thomas on social media.
So here we have a man who surrounds himself with drama, theatrics reliving the life and times of serial killers and other notorious crimes. Always with a penchant for destroying original police investigations and unfortunately, an unauthorised over dramatised version of a criminal investigation.
Apart from anything else (again I'm not au-fait with German law so forgive me if I'm wrong), according to the press and various spokespersons Brueckner is being held in a top security prison, in isolation to protect him from violent inmate. Allegedly, he has refused to talk to anyone about the case of Madeleine McCann but sends letters to all and sundry claiming innocence. Would an investigative journalist be allowed access to a German prison to interview a convicted criminal? Would said convicted criminal bare all to a passing journalist with tales of documentary production?
All the names and places being now identified have all been covered in past documentaries and press reports. Somethings not right ....

Press Release - February 15, 2021
discovery+ Original investigates the new prime suspect in the Madeleine McCann case
A Danish discovery+ Original produced by Heartland TV sheds a new light on one of the world’s most well-known criminal cases. The documentary series Prime Suspect: The Madeleine McCann Case premieres internationally on discovery+ on the 15th of February.
AMSTERDAM 11 February 2021 The German police have declared that a German national Christian B. is the new prime suspect in the case of abduction and murder of British girl Madeleine McCann, who disappeared from her parents’ holiday apartment in Portugal in 2007. The federal police are convinced that Madeleine’s abductor is sitting in a German jail, where he is serving a sentence for raping a 72-year-old woman in Praia da Luz – the same holiday paradise where Madeleine was abducted.
Prime Suspect: The Madeleine McCann Case is a three-part discovery+ Original documentary series that has been produced by Danish Heartland TV and directed by Jesper H. Grand. The documentary series examines the new German suspect Christian B for the first time, and his link to one of the world’s most well-known unsolved cases: Madeleine McCann’s disappearance. Friends of the suspect, an ex-girlfriend and other key persons in the case, including the suspect’s defense counsel, the German prosecutor and the former Portuguese investigator, have all chosen to participate in filming this documentary.
Myriam Lopez-Otazu, GVP Content, Sourcing & Acquisitions Discovery EMEA & APAC, said: “One of our core real-life genres on discovery+ is true crime and we want to unfold present tense investigations and bring answers to our subscribers locally and internationally. We are delighted to partner with our Danish creative team and Heartland TV on this important story. The producers have travelled across Europe and interviewed the key people who shared for the first time ever why and how Christian B. has become the prime suspect in one of the most well-known criminal cases in the world.”
Jesper H. Grand, Producer, Heartland TV, said: “On behalf of the team, I am incredibly proud that we have had the opportunity to undertake such an ambitious international project. I think it has been an advantage for the series that we come from a small country that is not involved in the case and have been able to look at it from a fresh perspective.”
Pil Gundelach Brandstrup, VP Content and programming Discovery Denmark, said: “It was our Executive Producer Tine Røgind Quist who originally got the idea for the documentary series, which is without a doubt one of our most ambitious Danish produced true crime projects to date. Everyone knows about the Madeleine McCann case, and I hope that our discovery+ viewers in Denmark and in the rest of the world will find the documentary series very interesting.”
The first episode will be available on discovery+ on the 15th of February in the UK, Italy, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. It will also premiere in India, the US, Germany, Portugal and South America later in 2021.

Madeleine McCann: Documentary To Unearth New Information In Case Against Prime Suspect
by : Hannah Smith on : 09 Jan 2022 09:46
Investigators working on a documentary about Madeleine McCann’s disappearance have reportedly found evidence that could cast doubt on the prime suspect’s involvement.
German police have said they believe that Christian B, a 44-year old convicted sex offender, was ‘100%’ responsible for the kidnap and murder of McCann, who vanished from a holiday resort in Portugal aged three in 2007.
They cited evidence that B was in Praia da Luz near to where the McCann family was staying, including records that reportedly show he made a phone call from the area.
However, a new television documentary series is reportedly set to challenge these claims, after former police investigators working on the show say they’ve found B has an alibi.
Madeleine McCann: Investigating the Prime Suspect is a three-part show produced for Channel 5 which saw a team of British investigators spend months in Portugal and Germany as they attempted to create a timeline of B’s movements at the time of McCann’s disappearance.
Rather than finding evidence linking B to the case, the investigators claim their work could see the case against the suspect collapse, claiming they can prove he was ’30 minutes away’ from Praia da Luz at the time of McCann’s disappearance.
‘They have concluded B could not have snatched Madeleine. He was 30 minutes away and was not on the phone in Praia da Luz the night she vanished,’ The Sun reports.
The team filming the documentary, who were led by former Surrey police detective Mark Williams-Thomas, reportedly came to their conclusion after speaking with a number of witnesses in Portugal and Germany.
Neither the British or German authorities investigating McCann’s disappearance on B’s alleged involvement have commented on the claims.
German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters told The Mirror last year that investigators had enough evidence to charge B, who is currently in prison for a separate crime, but were attempting to build ‘the best body of evidence possible,’ before officially beginning proceedings.

Err. No.
How do we know that?
Because there is no evidence that there ever WAS a kidnapping.
No evidence of entry, no indication of presence, no evidence of exit, no window of opportunity, no motive, no means, no method, no . . . .
Unless of course someone somewhere has this evidence but has not told anyone about it for the past 15 years.
Certain the PJ, BritPol, Grange, Die BKA, nor Jon Clarke do not seem to have found it. Perhaps MW-T has this vital clue.
What we DO have is evidence which points to something entirely different.
Something the PJ and BritPol started working on a long time ago, and something Grange had to be specifically ORDERED not to look at.

You can be sure if Mark Williams-Thomas had found any evidence that Christian Brueckner was involved, he would surely have told the Germans about it and they would have made a statement.
So I'm guessing no evidence of any kind has been found to incriminate him.
I really wish it was on UK tv, I would love to see the documentary.

There lies yet another mystery!
It should have been premiered in the UK by Channel 5, who claim ownership of broadcast rights - so to speak.
It's very unlikely to be shown in the UK before 3rd May 2022 - surely?
On social media Mark Williams-Thomas said on more than one occasion that he is totally unaware of the documentary being premiered in any other domain, the broadcast being the property of Channel 5 alone.
Just had a look at his twitter page back to the beginning of April, not a squeak - plenty tweets about Savile, Netflix and Gim Jamble but nothing about a Madeleine McCann documentary.
A man with an ego the size of Asia, you would expect him to be yelling me me me from theredrooftops.
Methinks something lost in translation or mischief a forethought.

Just came across this I posted a couple of months ago on the Brueckner thread..

Post by Verdi 24.02.22 12:37
I've not yet seen the latest Madeleine McCann production, said to be the work of former police officer Mark Williams-Thomas, ready and awaiting a release date in the UK. From what I've read, the filming centres around the life and times of Christian Brueckner culminating in his probable involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.
This I find rather worrying. I know he's not a lone wolf, others have followed the same trail - Jon Clarke for example, Discovery+ and more.
I can't understand where Mark Williams-Thomas is coming from.
I was half watching a programme on ITV last evening, 'Yorkshire Ripper the Secret Murders'. As far as I could see, the show was comprehensive - adhering to police records. I was reminded that Mark Williams-Thomas produced a grande exposé on the subject of Peter Sutcliffe, as he also claimed to be the one person who eventually exposed Jimmy Savile for past crimes. Later proven to be a falshood.
Is this postive commitment in pursuance of truth and justice or is it purely a money making venture and/or career advancement? If the former well done - if the latter .... shame on you!!!

Re: Jon Clarke is not going to like this: 'Madeleine McCann: Prime Suspect' Exclusive Premier, May 3rd 11pm
As I said up-page, there was much confusion in 2021 about the discovery+ documentary being premiered in Germany.
Further confounded by claims of a German documentary to be premiered late 2021/early 2022.
The two turned out to be the same .... the discovery+ documentary scheduled to be shown in Germany.
Could this latest revelation, that Mark Williams-Thomas appears to know nothing about, be yet another act of confusion - deliberate or otherwise?
I'm avoiding using the 'I heard' grapevine lingo, adhering instead to the published words from the horses mouth.

Why are they bringing Inga Ghericke back into this? Wasn't CB cleared of of this?
If there is any point in what the likes of JC and MWT are doing, why wasn't this doing by Op Grange and the £13M+ review?
This is load of nonsense ahead of yet another crazy documentary.

Brückner has been cleared of any involvement in the Inga Gehricke case. Despite a €25.000 reward, no hot leads have ever been received.
