Thank you for your interest in this ancient thread.
It has long since been established that there was no family trip by the McCanns to Sagres on Monday 30 April nor at any time.
The idea that they ever were there was promoted in a series of stories fed to the British press around 10, 11 and 12 May by the McCanns' PR representative.
They developed the following story:
"A man was seen taking photographs of children on a beach in Sagres. The bloke nearly tried to kidnap someone's child. The McCanns were there with Madeleine that day. He may have seen Madeleine on the beach that day, become attracted to her, and plotted to abduct her".
The whole story was fiction from start to finish. The man who reported that his child had nearly been kidnapped was Portuguese expat Nuno Lourenco. His statement is in the PJ files. It is a complete fabrication from start to finish.

Krokowski, incidentally, was the bloke supposedly snapping pictures of children. Except that that was yet one more fabrication.

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

All the media spin on this case over last decade leads one down a rabbit hole from where it becomes difficult to separate the wood from the trees.
