Early December for the final interviews in Portugal. Nice timing: allows Redwood to complete the investigation prior to his retirement and interview the Tapas7 at that time of year when they'll want to be with their families.

there's this story too, i don't think it's been posted yet, (edit to add. i see there's a whole thread on it, doh!)

"
EXCLUSIVE: Madeleine McCann detectives set to quiz key witnesses again

MADELEINE McCANN detectives are planning to requestion key figures who arrived on the scene shortly after the three-year-old disappeared.

The Scotland Yard officers have analysed minutely events which happened just before, during and immediately after Madeleine vanished on May 3, 2007 and appear to be seeking new information and clarification from important witnesses.
Among those scheduled for requestioning is Silvia Batista, who ran the service and maintenance departments of the Ocean Club at Praia da Luz on the Algarve where the McCanns were staying.
Shortly after the alarm was raised, Mrs Batista was contacted at her home in nearby Lagos and immediately went back to work.
When she arrived at a reception area she saw Madeleine's father Gerry on his knees on the floor crying out for help and banging his hands on the floor.
A few minutues later she entered the bedroom at apartment 5a and said that the shutters were down, the windows closed and the curtains slightly open.
Kate McCann has said that when she arrived to find Madeleine gone, the shutters were partly open in the bedroom, leading her to believe that Madeleine had been taken through the window.
In her statement Mrs Batista said Gerry told her he had closed the windows as their other two children, Sean and Amelie, then 18 months, were still asleep in separate cots in the bedroom."
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

interesting to include Gerry's praying and the shutters being down...and also that the famous tennis ball picture was provided on a memory stick from Richard O brien and Jane Tanner!
The rest of the article about missing apartment keys and dodgy looking potential burglars is less promising.

Batista and Hill - Shutters. NOT broken, smashed, jemmied, or anything else.
Hill - "It’s still questionable as to whether it’s an abduction," he said.
da Silva - mended the blinds in the McCann's room (and by implication did not mend anything in the children's room), and demonstrated the washing machine
Donna Hill - No idea. Anyone ?

Do the others later

External Inquiry Report

Date 02-10-2007
Place: Ocean Club
Executing Officers: Paolo Ferreira and Ricardo Paiva

On this date, at 15.00 we went to the Ocean Club where we were received by the Maintenance and Service Manager, Silvia Baptista, and by the Mark Warner director, John Hill. We asked them to show us all the printers and photocopiers existing at the OC, which were operational at the time of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and that were used to print colour copies of Madeleine’s photo.

Silvia Baptista informed us that at the request of John Hill and his wife D****, hundreds of colour copies of a photo of Madeleine McCann were printed on 4th May 2007 with the aim of distributing them in Pda L and Lagos. For this purpose a colour photocopier, Toshiba, in the main OC reception was used as well as an HP laser printer, HP Color Laserjet 2840 located at a desk at the Ocean Country company, a colour laser printer Epsom Aculaser C1100 located on the desk of the administrative secretary and a colour laser printer HP Color Laserjet 1600 located on John Hill’s desk.

On his part, John Hill informed us that the printing of large quantities of Madeleine’s photo was carried out by himself with the help of his wife, at the request of Russell O’Brien, a member of the McCann’s group of friends, John Hill stated that the photograph the colour prints were made from a mobile data disk of the “memory stick” kind that Russell O’Brien gave him on the morning of 4th May.

They both stipulated that these were the only colour printers and photocopiers in existence at the Ocean Club and that there was no other place with the capacity for colour printing.

I think they`re one and the same WMD.  She`s also mentioned here :-

"External Activity Report

Date: 2007-05-04

Place: Praia da Luz, Lagos

Officer responsible: Inspector Manuel Pinho

Description and Result:

On this date, in the company of my colleague L.Madeira, we spoke with Mrs Silvia Maria Correia Ramos B., director of maintenance and services for the company "GREENTROUST", which manages the "OCEAN CLUB" company, contactable by mobile phone 964....

Through her, we contacted Donna Louise Rafferty Hill (contactable by mobile phone number 964...) responsible for the crèche employees belonging to the "MARK WARNER" company, who were responsible for Madeleine and the twins for several periods during the day after their arrival in Portugal.

She told us that all these employees are English nationals and that they work in Portugal from
March/April until November; that there are 13 people who work in the crèche, their names and telephone numbers being as follows: [NOTE: Phone numbers withheld]
- Pauline Francis M.
- Emma Louise W.
- Sarah Elizabeth W.
- Susan Bernadette O.
- Leanne Danielle W.
- Shinead Maria V.
- Jacqueline Mary W.
- Kirsty Louise M.
- Lynne R.F.
- Catriona Treasa Sisile B.
- Stacey P.
- Lyndsay Jayne J.
- Amy Ellen T.

--- It was also determined that all these girls live outside the resort, although quite close to it, and that Catriona B. was responsible for Madeleine during the day yesterday.
--- Stacey P. was the staff member responsible for the McCann twins.
--- Usually, it is always the same nanny who cares for each child.
--- The latest to arrive in Portugal were Sarah W. and Charlotte Pennington who arrived last Saturday, April 28th 2007.
--- The witness is the one responsible for coordination, and who distributed the children between the various girls, allocating each child to one of them.
--- Nothing abnormal happened today and no one was absent from work except those who were on their day off.
--- All the carers have made themselves available to speak with the police. "

One can but hope. Photographs are certainly a sensitive area in the McCann case, imo, whether photo-shopped or not  winkwink of course! (Now, now - just a little tease for some of you!)

But, given that practically every utterance from the lips of Team McCann would appear, to me at any rate, to be something of a fabrication, it seems unlikely that the photos would be showing the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

And of-course, a picture can tell a thousand words, so they say!

Perhaps they WERE the people seen around the holiday arpartment.  In which case

Thank you, you are free to leave "

Why would you want to speak to someone who resembled someone else ?
Wouldn't you want to speak directly to the someone else ?

It does seem strange to me that none of the Tapas crew, for all their toing and froing, saw these two men but separate witnesses did.

Clearly the Express have info that the girl was abducted,so why are OG off to Portugal, mind the same rag is reporting that Thopre was accused of murdering Scott.

Slightly off topic but relevent in showing just how lousy the reporting is.

"Thorpe, a twice-married father of one, led the Liberal Party between 1967 and 1976. He was accused of murdering Norman Scott for threatening to uncover their alleged relationship".

No such murder took place.

Well, that's the question PM how shortly is shortly?

Possibly not between the time they all met for dinner and the time when Mrs. found Maddie had disappeared?

If that is the case then all any solictor could say is that it is not a crime to be seen near the apartment/s and without DNA or other evidence please let my client go home?

Does it work like that?

Then they could move on to others who resemble Tannerman, Smithman, spottyman . . .

What about when the media were trawling the country in a quest to find people bitten by dogs, any breed of dog in order to get a certain breed euthanised and banned. What about the way  the media portrayed gun enthusiasts after Dunblane in 1996 in order to get private firearm ownership banned. What about how the media  presented the Proceeds of Crime Act as only affecting 'Chinese triads' and the 'Russian Mafia.' What about how the media castigated disabled people in order to aid the passing of the Welfare Reform Act. What about the injustice to Liverpool football fans over the Hillsborough disaster. What about the lies they propagated over Iraq which led to literally millions of innocent people being killed. Had the iraqis really had any serious weapons, they'd have been invited for tea and scones on the White House lawn. etc. etc. etc.

What the media print about the McCanns, although totally misleading rubbish, is positively innocuous compared to the harm they have done to the British people in their role of promoting gov. draconian legislation. The media are the peoples' worst enemy, even more so than politicos.

Police to quiz two male suspects about missing Madeleine McCann
TWO men who bear striking resemblances to people seen around the holiday apartment from where Madeleine McCann vanished will be the focus of Scotland Yard investigations in Portugal this week.

When these two have been interviewed will Operation Grange be seeking permission to interview two people who look like Kate and Gerry, and to ask if anyone knows someone who resembles Robert Murat.
Then they could move on to others who resemble Tannerman, Smithman, spottyman . . .

Depends what legacy Wood left for Wall to inherit.
If this new girl does her job properly next week, CM and the MCs will probably choke on their Christmas turkeys. It may even be their last Christmas turkeys at home for a very long time.

I think that DCI Wall has been in place in the investigation for somewhat longer than we're being told. I suspect two investigations have been going on (as I've maintained all along). The one for the benefit of the media and the McCanns, headed by AR, which seems to have been spinning its wheels and ignoring the obvious and doing bits of landscaping in Portugal for the benefit of the assembled press... and a second investigation, which has been getting to the heart of the matter and undertaking the real digging and collecting of evidence. A classic case of "look over here, not over there."

Ah, where have we seen that trick employed before...?
