I sincerely hope that all those of you on this forum who still truly believe that this £7 million-plus Scotland Yard review-cum-investigation has not been a blatant, deliberate and sinister cover-up and sham from the word 'Go' on 12 May 2011 - nearly 3 years ago - are encouraged by tonight's appeal for information on claimed abduction attempts that took place up to 10 years ago.tasprin wrote:tiny wrote:Oh dear.
martinbrunt @skymartinbrunt 43m#Madeleine Scot Yard detectives appeal for info on previous abduction attempts in Algarve before Madeleine McCann vanished in 2007
Scotland Yard have had three years to appeal for info on previous abduction attempts. Why are they suddenly shoving this on tonight's Crimewatch at the last minute? Amaral or the libel trial? It has to be one or the other.
Or whatever new dramatic 'lines of enquiry' or 'revelation moments' they come up with.
Please don't blame me if your hopes are dashed once again.

#Madeleine Det Chief Andy Redwood said intruder broke into holiday homes in Vale de Parra and Praia da Gale wearing the distinctive top.
We are lead to believe by Mr Redwood that the Portugese police covered this up? I cannot read these tweets any other way.
12 attacks on British children and nobody said a word...until now.

BREAKING MADELEINE MCCANN NEWS:
Evening Standard, a few minutes ago:
Hunt for sex fiend who assaulted five young British girls on holiday in the Algarve
Detectives probing the disappearance of Madeleine McCann revealed today they are hunting a sex fiend who assaulted five other young British girls on holiday on the Algarve.
In a sensational development, Scotland Yard announced officers are investigating 12 potentially linked crimes in holiday resorts near to where Madeleine vanished in 2007.
In every case a man broke into mainly holiday villas occupied by British families -—and in four of them he assaulted five young white girls aged seven to 10 as they lay in bed. On one occasion he assaulted two girls in the same villa.
Many of the attacks were between 2004 and 2006, which was the year before Madeleine went missing from her bed in a holiday apartment in Praia de Luz. The most recent break-in was reported in 2010.
Police say that while the crimes are not identical, most are similar. There were no signs of forced entry, nothing was taken and the intruder appeared between 2am and 5am.
Most of the offences took place in the low season and on two occasions people reported hearing the noise of a bin collection lorry nearby.
Detectives believe that the suspect may have been in a villa looking around “for some time” before committing the offences.
In some cases the parent or the child woke up and disturbed the intruder but police say the man stayed calm even when confronted.
Of the 12 cases, two occurred in Praia de Luz — where Madeleine was staying when she disappeared — four in the holiday resort of Carvoeiro and six in the Vale da Parra and Praia da Gale districts west of Albufeira.
Detectives believe there could be more cases of similar crimes where victims’ families did not bother to report them to police. They urged those people to come forward and released an image of a distinctive red T-shirt linked to the hunt.
Madeleine was three when she vanished from her holiday apartment as her parents Kate and Gerry dined at a nearby tapas restaurant with friends in May 2007.

I suppose - rather than having to deal with 'foreigners' - it makes it so much easier for Scotland Yard to control the information coming out in the media if all the alleged victims are British nationality.

So the BBC have only just added this to their website - it really is a last minute thing. Amazing! And the dates of the attacks have already been changed from 2003-2010 to 2004-2006.
The BBC must have been on standby, awaiting an opportune moment and the thumbs-up to release this info.

This man according to the reports 'walked away calmly' when discovered. So the 3 burglars that panicked theory is completely invalidated.
It also doesn't seem clear that this man was a single person, the cases are 'thought' to be similar.
I'm hoping this is the media spinning something SY have said and not SY doing the spinning.

I think GA's interview has highlighted that there was a lot political influence that forced him of the case, leading to the situation we're in now. I think he's 110% correct.
The man Operation Grange is looking for now never abducted a child. It's clear that he checked on children's passports to see if they were British and if one wasn't available he conducted an on the spot English test.

Re: CRIMEWATCH Update on MadeleineMcCann case tonight 19th March
Many of us like to think that SY are playing the long game ... but to what actual end? Surely after the information they've been sent and access to the files, if they were gonna go for the McCanns they'd have done so by now? Especially given the massive expense and longevity of the review/investigation.
Put it another way - say the enquiry goes on for another year at which point there's a breakthrough and they charge the parents. How's that going to look good for SY in any way shape of form? The public reaction would be split between hatred and revulsion at the parents and disbelief at police incompetence that it took years to work it out.

Police suggest DNA evidence in McCann suspect hunt
The new suspect in the search for Madeleine McCann broke into homes when parents were asleep between 2am and 5am in 12 known incidents between 2004 and 2010.
Ten of the cases were reported to Portuguese police, however detectives in the UK were not aware of them until three British families came forward following an appeal in October last year.
Describing the events as “grim” Det Supt Redwood said that police would be able to rule out anyone named in terms of the most serious incident - suggesting DNA is available for at least one case.
In the most serious case we have the ability to eliminate the person named.
We need the public to carefully consider what we’re saying and if they have anyinformation that may be similar we need to know about it.
We need to know if there are any similar cases. Last time three families came forward so we need to know if there are any others.

I would like to say you could not make this up.......but they have.
Time for Redwood to come clean and admit they have no interest or inclination in getting justice for Madeleine. Try to be honest about something at least.
How any of them sleep at night I do not know. A disgrace to their uniform.

Call for new Madeleine inquiry team
UK police probing the disappearance of Madeleine McCann are seeking an intruder who sexually abused five girls in Portugal between 2004 and 2006.
Detectives say the attacks happened in holiday villas occupied by UK families in the Algarve.
The man, described as tanned with dark hair, is suspected of breaking into 12 properties from 2004 to 2010.
Madeleine was three when she disappeared in May 2007 from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Algarve.
The five girls - aged between seven and 10 - were sexually assaulted in their beds.
On one of these occasions, the man assaulted two girls in one villa.
'Serious offences'
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Redwood said the man had an "unhealthy interest in young white female children" - and tracing him was a priority.
"We need to establish the identity of this man," DCI Redwood said.
"These offences are very serious and no one has been charged in connection with them. We also need to eliminate this man from our enquiries and ascertain whether these offences are linked to Madeleine's disappearance."
While not identical, many aspects of the circumstances surrounding the sexual assaults were similar, police said.
There were no signs of forced entry to the properties, nothing was taken and the intruder appeared in the early hours of the morning.
The suspect may have been in the villa or looking around for some time before committing the offences or being disturbed, either by a parent coming in or the child waking up, officers said.
He remained calm even when disturbed.
Four of the 12 offences happened in Carvoeiro, six in the Praia de Gale district, and two in Praia da Luz.
There are currently 38 people classed as "persons of interest" linked with the inquiry into Madeleine's disappearance.
Detectives are also sifting through details of 530 known sex offenders whose whereabouts are unknown.
Of those, 59 are classed as high priority and some of those are British.
