Very nervous first poster, daily lurker..

Just had to register. I gave money to the fund in the beginning at a time when I was under threat of redundancy. I lost my job but never lost interest with this case. The money I gave was for Madeleine, NOT for a courtroom.

Welcome journolisp - I`m sure I`d be even more disgruntled about this case if I`d actually donated money to them. It must be a bitter pill to swallow, thinking you were helping the McCanns, then to become aware of how your generosity has been abused.

You're right Woofer. Money was tight at the time but I didn't think twice. Our daughter was only about a year younger than Madeleine. I couldn't stay away from checking the news to see if she'd been found. My husband thinks I'm obsessed so I don't really mention it much. Guess that's why I'm here x

I have also followed this case from the very beginning. Like so many of you I am obsessed with it and read about it everyday and sometimes more than once. I am "mammie" (grandmother) to four wonderful little boys. One of them just turned 4 and it is thru his eyes that I am reminded of just how horrible that 'holiday' was for poor little Maddie. He gets scared and cries out at night when/if he wakes up and thinks he is alone. Hearing the fear in his voice makes my heart just break for Maddie and what she must have felt/thought those long long minutes (75mins) that Mrs. Fenn heard. How they can live with that betrayal is beyond my understanding. Every time I hear them say, "we would never have taken the risk had we known she woud be stolen', I want to scream. Why doesn't someone/anyone ask them about all the other much more likely things that could (and might) have happened such as falling, getting into medicines etc?? I know all these things have been discuseed many times over and oh dear I am starting to ramble. Besides that is not why I logged on today.:)

I logged on to give my very best wishes to you, Tony. I have so much respect for your courage in the face of such evil. Your judge sounds (so far) like he might be a voice of reason and common sense. As others have said please remember you have TRUTH on your side. I live in the states but will be logged on for continued updates on Tues and Wed. Please stay strong for you have many many people beside you.

Every time I read this thread it still brings tears (of happiness) to my eyes to see all these supporters. We all knew there was a large group of `questioners of the McCann`s story`, but to see so many showing their support for Tony is just goose-pimple making.

Nina, I totally agree. I had a dinner party last night, and brought Tonys' case up. I was surprised, but delighted, that out of the ten of us, six already knew about it! Two of the couples are quite young, late 20's and early 30'. The younger couple thought the McCanns were 'lovely', having read only mainstream and admittedly not entirely interested either. After much discussion, (I so 'enjoyed' it as I have an arrogant fool in-law who's of the opinion they should be left alone 'regardless', that I should stop talking about it - of course he's a prat, I've reminded him of that often - and it took up a lot of the evening's chat) their curiousity is aroused and I've pointed them in this, the MandPJFiles and a few other places' direction. The other young couple were incredibly clued up about it, although no surprise for me there as my nephew is a fairly young Barrister, and he and I have discussed the case often. More so recently. There is support for Tony in Scottish legal land too.

Oh! I realise I've just given away who I am on here to those who were at mine last night. Hi there, yes even you. :)

I was around in the early days (3 Arguidos) I've had a lot going on in my life in recent years but returned to the case some months ago . Every year I hope that this case will solved and despair at the number of people that are taken in by the Drs Mccann . I pray that Madeleine gets justice and wish Tony Bennett luck

Good luck Tony! I simply cannot believe how far these two will stoop to suppress the truth about what happened to their poor little girl. I don't post much, but I do read lots of the posts on here and I've been absolutely outraged and yet heartened in equal measures. The way that they are treating you is an affront to everything decent IMO. I'm very proud of the way you have represented yourself, you have nothing to be ashamed of. The McCann's will be exposed soon enough, more and more people are now waking up to the fact that they are not as they appear. That poor little girl must have been so scared while they were out socialising, she deserved so much more from them. When I tell people to scratch a little deeper in this case they are always left opened mouthed, and they then in turn start to tell others too. The truth will out, don't worry. There re so many people out there now who are going to get lots more vocal in their fight for justice for Madeleine Beth McCann!

You have my sincere admiration for your courage and tenacity and I'm sure you will give C-R a run for their money, it's scandalous how the legal system allows them to trample over people's right of free speech.

It's through this forum and others that I have been able to research the background to the disappearance of Madeleine rather than relying upon the pathetic press/media in this country. Having read so many of the files and Goncarlo Amaral's book, it beggars belief that the pair have got off scot free and worse, are treated as parenting role models, for goodness sake.

For them to set their ludicrously overpaid yard dogs on Tony & Goncarlo is a travesty and to be honest, I was resigned to the fact that they & their friends would never have to answer the multitude of outstanding questions on their conduct that fateful night - especially when it became clear that the Met inquiry is an expensive whitewash. But perhaps they have finally over-reached themselves and if it's true that they are backsliding on the litigation case in Portugal then could it be possible that Tony may also find that justice prevails and he & Goncarlo are free to continue the campaign to find the truth of Madeleine's disappearance at last.
