"I go back a couple of times a year. I still walk those streets, I guess to try to look for answers.”

Kate believes she could still be alive, but fears “no one will recognise my Madeleine any more” and is considering having new age-progression images created of her.

My bad.

Apparently she goes back twice a year (if you believe it). Amazing nobody recognises her famous face.

Timing is very suspects coming after lost libel.

If it's her secret for that many years, why now she chose to divulge it?

It's a regurgitated story from May 2014.

Looks like we are to be bombarded with McCann trivia for the coming week(s).

Oh Lordy Lord, the tabloids originality (not)!

Same McNews again.......for the X times.

They never got tired of rehashing rehashing and rehashing all the good bad and ugly Mcnews.

Trade secret or what, thinking people have short memory.

Well, if she goes back twice a year as claimed...maybe the recycled news isn't totally useless.

Serves to remind people of Kate's secret visits! What a load of bollox.

Is this the book?
I hope not. Both Pat Brown and Goncalo Amaral - so far - are committed to believing that all those concerned who gave evidence about the 'high tea' with Madeleine at 4.45pm to 6.00pm on Thursday 3 May are telling the truth about that.

Pat has constantly dismissed the analyses of e.g. HideHo and Richard D Hall who have a very different scenario about the events of that week.

Pat I think believes the Smith sighting is genuine. If Amaral is writing another book, I hope he at least does a thorough re-examination of the Smithman sighting before committing himself to print.

And he needs to bone up on Nuno Lourenco's tissue of lies about his daughter allegedly being nearly kidnapped in Sagres by Wojchiech Krokowski - which sent Amaral off on an international wild goose chase, 'phoning INTERPOL and the German and Polish police, and getting all the people on the plane from Faro to Berlin searched.

It wouldn't be a bad idea if someone explained to him the content of the two 'Last Photo' threads here, either
We  do know Rocky is sceptical of OG.
My money's on, he'll drop the book on the market when OG winds up with a feeble excuse. IMO he has two goals to achieve, 1 to crack the case and show he and his team was correct. And 2 he won't let the Portuguese get mugged off by SY, because he knows they'll try and dump the blame on them.

‘We must reconstruct Maddie’s fateful night’ says former Portuguese police chief

RETIRED Portuguese police chief Goncalo Amaral wants Madeleine McCann’s parents to fly to Portugal and relive the night of her disappearance.

By James Murray in Lisbon, Exclusive
PUBLISHED: 00:01, Sun, May 1, 2016

Mr Amaral believes that every person who may have been present when the three-year-old disappeared should return to the resort to reconstruct events of the fateful night.

This would include Madeleine’s parents as well as those they shared a meal with when she disappeared.

Mr Amaral claimed a full reconstruction could produce a vital breakthrough in the £12million investigation.

He said: “Reconstructions are very helpful and I believe a full one in this case could be very productive.”

Scotland Yard officers working on Operation Grange are concentrating on one remaining line of enquiry, which is believed to focus on the theory that Madeleine was taken in a burglary which went wrong.

As the ninth anniversary of her disappearance looms on Tuesday, Mr Amaral argues that a reconstruction is needed to clarify the timeline of crucial events on the night of May 3, 2007.

Madeleine was put to bed in the early evening with twins Sean and Amelie, then 18 months old, sleeping in separate cots nearby in a back bedroom of apartment 5a of the Ocean Club at Praia da Luz on the Algarve.

It is known that Madeleine’s parents Kate and Gerry McCann, doctors from Rothley, Leicestershire, joined seven other British friends at a tapas bar about 60 yards from the apartment for an evening meal.

At around 9pm Mr McCann went to check on Madeleine and describes her as sleeping normally on the top of the bed. Kate reported her missing from the apartment at 10pm.

As part of the Yard investigation the mobile phone records of four arguidos, or suspects, have been forensically analysed. They are all locals and have protested their innocence.

All were interviewed by Portuguese officers, with Yard officers present, about their movements on the evening Madeleine disappeared.

Mr Amaral said it was unlikely the suspects would agree to a reconstruction but their parts could be played by police officers.

However, he said it was important the McCanns and their friends, Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Rachael Oldfield and her husband Matthew, David and Fiona Payne and Mrs Payne’s mother Dianne Webster take part.

Other witnesses for the reconstruction would be British holidaymaker Jeremy Wilkins and Irishman Martin Smith and his family.

Mr Wilkins stood outside apartment 5a chatting to Mr McCann when Ms Tanner walked past.

Ms Tanner said she saw a man carrying a child in his arms cross a road by apartment 5a.

Scotland Yard officers have identified an innocent holidaymaker carrying a child there at the time as being the person Ms Tanner saw.

Mr Amaral said: “This is a crucial area for the reconstruction. We now know Scotland Yard have eliminated the man Jane Tanner saw carrying a child.

“It would be important for the person Scotland Yard has identified to take part in the reconstruction as this period of time is absolutely crucial.”

At about 10pm, Mr Smith and his family returned to their apartment after a meal out, and saw a man carrying a child on a road heading towards the seafront, about 1,000 yards from apartment 5a.

Mr Amaral said: “I think Mr Smith and members of the family would be happy to assist with a reconstruction as it may bring back useful memories.

“We seem to be getting towards the end of the Operation Grange investigation, the last roll of the dice, so what is there to lose?”

Scotland Yard officers sent legal letters to Portuguese police stating the lines of inquiry they wished to pursue.

A Portuguese prosecutor will decide if its officers can carry them out.

In Algarve’s capital, Faro, inquiries by the Sunday Express last week indicated there was cooperation between the police forces.

A source said: “If detectives are asked to help with a reconstruction I’m sure they will.”

The McCanns declined to respond to Mr Amaral’s comments.

However, it is understood they were advised a reconstruction after so many years would be “pointless”.

A source close to the family said: “Kate and Gerry do not wish to engage with anything Amaral says.”

So, a couple with a missing child. A girl who, they say, could still be alive and findable. A girl who might still be in danger.

What is their response regarding a reconstruction which just might shed some light on the sequence of events the night they lost her?

They don't want to engage with anything Amaral says.

And, they were advised a reconstruction after so many years would be ''pointless''

Says quite a lot doesn't it?

Brilliant @xklamation fast off the mark winkwink thank you.
Amaral certainly is one courageous man.
All in the name of justice for Madeleine, a little girl he never had the pleasure to meet.

Her parents do not wish to engage?
What would they like to 'engage' in to reveal the truth FOR Madeleine?

McCanns hit with new grief: Portuguese detective Amaral wins libel appeal

By Jim Murray in Lisbon / Published 1st May 2016

THE detective who led the failed attempts to find Madeleine McCann has written a controversial new book about the case, bringing fresh anguish for her parents.

Goncalo Amaral revealed he has completed the work, which forensically re-examines the timeline of her disappearance, and is now seeking to publish it.

Mr Amaral co-ordinated the original investigation in Portugal but went on to publish a book making unfounded allegations against Maddie’s parents Kate and Gerry.

The couple fiercely rebuked his claims and the book was withdrawn – but last month Mr Amaral won an Appeal Court case, allowing the book to be published.

Now he says he has penned a second book about the disappearance which he is planning to publish.

The move will anger Kate and Gerry, who have spent the last nine years searching for their daughter who vanished on May 3, 2007, then aged three.

The McCanns are taking the case to the Supreme Court in Lisbon in a bid to to overturn the appeal ruling on the first book.

From the ‘whooshed’  Express article captured by Joana above:

‘As part of the Yard investigation the mobile phone records of four arguidos, or suspects, have been forensically analysed. They are all locals and have protested their innocence.

All were interviewed by Portuguese officers, with Yard officers present, about their movements on the evening Madeleine disappeared.

However, he said it was important the McCanns and their friends, Russell O’Brien and his partner Jane Tanner, Rachael Oldfield and her husband Matthew, David and Fiona Payne and Mrs Payne’s mother Dianne Webster take part.

Other witnesses for the reconstruction would be British holidaymaker Jeremy Wilkins and Irishman Martin Smith and his family.’

No doubt Amaral said no such thing, but of all the required participants, the three bunglars would probably be the most willing to join in any reconstruction.

O/T as such, but ‘James Murray’ in the Express and ‘Jim’ in the Star!

Rocky A. has forensically studied the timelines and this will be in the new book.

Oh My Goodness me - will have to think of a few new words to convey their anguish, seethingness etc.   Getting a bit fed up now reading those same few words.  Haven't they thought to buy a thesaurus?

As Mrs.  reportedly visits Pt. twice a year I can't see why there would be a problem in attending a reconstruction.  Who has advised them that a reconstruction would be pointless?

I know I would not need to be asked twice, in fact I would be banging on police doors demanding one took place.

A curious case of ink wastage and unnecessary quotations about not engaging with Amaral seen as it the whole thing was pulled anyway!

Engage by telling the Express you won't engage and then threaten to sue? curiouser and curiouser.

Fresh agony for The Express as news article is abducted.

The disappearance of a news article barely hours old has sparked an internet hunt. Its author James Murray, is said by a close source to be bloody seething.

Whoa! Those pics of KM aren't too flattering are they? Even if the article was pulled, it shows that they at least want to start printing facts about the case, as opposed to the usual pink drivel.

Now, how will they get Tannerman back for a reconstruction if the PJ so wished?

ETA - are the PJ likely to release a second lot of files and if so, will this have any info on the SY Bannerman revelations?

This a very sad case Indeed but at least Stephen Robb who reviews the papers at the BBC news site has had a sighting,   so we must hope the article has come to no harm.      (Sorry, can't seem to post link)

Yes it does suzy!

After nine long years and hundreds of thousands of pounds spent by TM attempting to wipe away the damning truth, we arrive neatly back at the (desperately ignored) ground zero, with Dr Amaral calling again for the very important reconstruction!  Dr Amaral has also politely requested Operation Grange invite DCI Redwood's revelationary Crecheman along too for thoroughness and good measure, and suggests that police officers can stand in for the alleged burglars to complete the picture of everyone's movements on that ill-fated night of May 3 2007.

Plus a new book in the pipeline scrutinising the timelines!

Oh dear, all a bit too thorough and logical for our expensive team at the Met methinks.

Go, go Rocky Amaral clapping
