If you take a look at Missing People you will find Jo Youle's partner is involved with the Rock Choir.Amy Dean wrote:I've actually heard of G4!

No can do! Came across the G4 thing indirectly. Wouldn't dream of saying anything bad about Trevor McDonald - he's safe with me. Providing he's cautious about the company he keeps.aquila wrote:@Verdi
Cease and desist from humour. I beg of thee to please favour the forum with a link to MSM reporting what was auctioned at the Missing People celebrity bash.
....and don't even think of saying anything bad about Trevor McDonald (I love the bloke's work).

I thank you - don't know anything about X-Factor so just googled youtube for a listen, I'm quite impressed. Not overkeen on contemporary opera but have to admit their rendition of Puccini's Nessun Dorma's pretty good as is their version of Bohemian Rapsody. The front man even sounds a bit like Freddie Mercury.Amy Dean wrote:I've actually heard of G4!

Certainly makes a change from the usual mainstream boy band pop claptrap. That's naturally just my opinion.

Tweets ahead: the top charity chief executives on social media
These leaders are championing their causes and offering support to beneficiaries, others should follow them

And guess who makes it into the top 30? (List is alphabetical so not actually ranked)

It would be a good exercise to rank their salaries alongside them as well.

Re: Bonfire Night Missing People Celebrity Bash and Auction - Kate McCann the Star, flanked by two more blondes
Here is the tweet from Jo Youle quoted in the Guardian article
Jo Youle @JoeyYoule
Spent valuable time with @missingpeople frontline team on 116000 & uplifting to hear about missing people being found/sending messages home
8:57 AM - 10 Oct 2015
Is this the most pointless and patronising tweet ever?
'Spent valuable time with the frontline team' - it's her bloody job (for which she is paid handsomely) to know what's going on in her organisation. Tweeting drivel that she has spent time anywhere within her organisation is beyond comprehension. As for this time being 'valuable' is really taking the michael and smacks of examining the ranks.
'uplifting to hear about missing people being found/sending messages home' !
See previous comment.
Publishing some real facts and figures on this charity's achievements seems beyond their capability. The amount of missing people fluctuates dependent upon where they stand at any given moment. The latest is 140,000 people under the age of 18 go missing in UK each year. There is nothing, I repeat, nothing on their website that gives any breakdown/verifies these figures.
This charity has recently rolled out a pilot project for some form of aftercare (in North Wales) and continues to have its feet snugly under the table with the UK Police.
It's my opinion that this charity is nothing but a quango in disguise.

Re: Bonfire Night Missing People Celebrity Bash and Auction - Kate McCann the Star, flanked by two more blondes
Innovative service for missing people and families launches in Wales
on Thursday, 22 October 2015.
National charity Missing People begins a series of events at police forces across Wales today to launch a pilot service that supports returned missing persons and their families.
Missing People has over 20 years’ experience providing emotional and practical support through its helpline, 116 000, to many of the 14,630 people who go missing each year in Wales and their families. The charity is now launching its innovative new “Aftercare” service at the events, beginning with Dyfed Powys Police Headquarters in Carmarthen today. Aftercare is a free service delivered by telephone, SMS and email to support missing people and their families in the months following the missing person’s return.
Funded by a grant from Big Lottery Wales, Aftercare offers non-judgemental, confidential support after a missing episode and the opportunity to discuss the reasons behind a disappearance, aiming to reduce the frequency and duration of future missing episodes. A missing episode is often the first indication of a problem and the Aftercare service will identify the help needed by the formerly missing person whilst supporting families who may be struggling to reconnect.
The service is to be rolled out across Wales with a view to it being established in the rest of the UK, and can be delivered in Welsh through a language line service.
Karen Robinson, Head of Partnerships and Development at Missing People, says “For years, people who go missing and their families have told us that when someone is found a new challenge begins. The charity Missing People has responded to this by developing an Aftercare service, designed to continue our support in to the next difficult weeks and months in the family’s life. We are delighted to have received funding from Big Lottery Wales to fill this gap in service for some of the most vulnerable people in society”
Detective Chief Inspector Steve Cockwell at Dyfed Powys Police says “The Aftercare Service provided by Missing People will provide much needed support to missing persons and their family when they return from home. There are many issues that the family may need to resolve and the ability for police forces to refer a case to this service will provide the family with an opportunity to obtain support and advice from a non-statutory agency, in a safe environment. Tackling the root causes for the missing episode will reduce the risk to the individuals concerned and assist in preventing further missing episodes.”
Missing People will continue its Aftercare launches at Combined Services Centre, Llandrindod on 26 October, Clarence House, Cardiff on 2 November and Glyndwr University, Wrexham on 10 November. Further information about Aftercare and launch event information are available at aftercare@missingpeople.org.uk . Missing People runs a free, confidential and 24hour helpline, 116 000, for anyone affected by missing.

There you go, rolled out an initiative that has completely missed out Cardiff, Newport and Swansea but has won Welsh funding and is doing the bi-lingual thing.Ladyinred wrote:Innovative service for missing people and families launches in Wales

Llandrundod Wells must be a real hotbed of people going missing then, alongside Carmarthen....oh these are bi-lingual locations and you're going to have to work bloody hard to get a grant from anything Welsh unless you throw in the language...Ladyinred wrote:@Aquila, if read the last paragraph, Wrexham, Llandrudnod Wells and Cardiff are mentioned.
ETA: of the claimed 14,360 people who go missing each year in Wales how many of those do you think will benefit from a telephone service?
