Madeleine McCann And a New Appeal - Martin Brunt - Page 2 Empty Will Germans solve Madeleine Mystery? - Sunday Express

WILL GERMANS SOLVE MADELEINE MYSTERY?

The McCanns last week launched their official Find Maddie website in German

Sunday October 31,2010
By Tracey Kandohla, exclusive
KATE and Gerry McCann believe a German tourist could hold the key to their daughter’s disappearance.
The desperate couple are pleading with Germans holidaying in Portugal’s Algarve to keep their eyes open in the search for Madeleine.
The McCanns last week launched their official Find Maddie website in German.
* WIN A LUXURY LONG WEEKEND FOR TWO IN CAIRO!!! INCLUDES BA CLUB CLASS FLIGHTS, FIVE STAR ACCOMMODATION AND £1,000 SPENDING MONEY! *
The move follows a boost to the private investigative team, with three former British policemen joining and a shake-up of the Maddie Fund board of directors, as exclusively revealed by the Sunday Express last week.
The new-look website, aimed at reaching a bigger part of Europe, has given fresh hope to the family, from Rothley, Leicestershire.
Their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said yesterday: “Kate and Gerry are very pleased with the new site and hope it will lead to important new developments. They have long wanted to make sure they reach the German public because so many Germans were holidaying in the Algarve at the time Madeleine disappeared.”
The youngster, who would now be seven, vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents were dining with friends in a nearby tapas bar.
Kate and Gerry are convinced their daughter is still alive and have vowed to continue their hunt for her with financial support from members of the public and their backer, double glazing tycoon Brian Kennedy.

SEARCH UK NEWS for:

There have been numerous alleged sightings of blonde Madeleine, who has a distinctive flaw in her right eye, in different parts of Europe over the past three and a half years but all have proved false. Mr Mitchell said: “As well as the British, many German and Dutch holidaymakers frequent the Algarve.
“After Madeleine was abducted hundreds of tourists, including Germans, were allowed to leave the resort. It is possible they may have seen something and may still have important information.
“Kate and Gerry are appealing for Germans who may remember something to come forward and for German tourists visiting the Algarve to keep their eyes open and remain aware that Madeleine is missing.”
The Find Maddie website, which shows three age progression pictures of the youngster, runs in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
The German language site urges people to download a poster of Maddie begging: “Don’t give up on me!”

They publish this non-news story but still nothing about unbanning Mr Amaral's book mad

The find Madeleine website has been translated into German but I have heard twice, once from a lady supporter in Germany that it is a very poor google translation.

You would think that the McCann`s would reward all the cash left in the fund for information leading to the return of their daughter, after all they would not be needing it after she was returned to them, would they? But it seems that all she is worth is £1000 and a holiday is Cairo.

Why Germany?

There must be a reason, did team McCann`s mess up on the Hewlett scenario over there?

Autumn

Thanks posting the details of this - especially the bit about the reward - this is unbelievable - I don't know whether to think of it as an insult or evidence that the Fund has hit the "rocks". It must be just a gesture -because they are trying to take attention from the lifting of the ban.

What miserable parents they are!

Then why on earth didn't they do it sooner, what was stopping them?

One would suggest that this is a very brave step of Team McCann to take. After all, it may bring people forward who saw something similar to the Smiths. Or even a photograph of Tanner wearing jeans.

Or perhaps a blue holdall - but then if,.... IF, someone can recall seeing something out of the ordinary it also means that TM will be able to stifle said witness if need be.

They certainly didn't chuck it at a proper translation service, or even a German speaking proofreader. It looks as though it has been translated with Bing or Google, for free. It is riddled with basic spelling and grammatical errors that will have most German speakers squirming. In fact it resembles one of those poorly-worded spam emails that phish for your PayPal or online banking details. I am not sure how the fact that the McCanns have learned to use an online free translation program is actually "news". It must be a slow week in Wapping.

Thanks for re-posting the article Candyfloss, it was only after reading aiyoyo's comments that I noticed the ad. Assuming aiyoyo's post was an ironic reference to the ad, I responded in a similar manner. Sorry if this has confused anyone confused but, in a nutshell, the McCanns are giving nothing away to anyone.

WELL! Can anyone see people fighting a path to the new PIs door (former British coopers is it) and claiming weekend trip to where? CAIRO?
Do they seriously think there are people (guillable Germans rather) out there who , like them, are desperate for some 'spending money' to fall into King Tutankhamen's tomb?
If the mccanns look too hard into the tomb with their illgotten windfall they risk being buried as new accessories for the king's use in next life. Isnt it what the Egyptians did those days......bring with them what's needed for next life use?

If the mccanns expect people to make a beeline to help them........they are in LA LA land.

Diverson tactics as usual.........

What I dont understand is their lasting power with the papers!

When judgement day comes........hope their lasting power remains with the press for infinity.

One has found it altogether far too difficult to comment upon this latest farcical episode. Why do they think that the Germans would want to win the sort of Chavvy holiday that footballers wives and girlfriends aspire to?

What happened to the large rewards for information?

Is Madeleine now only worth a few thousand pounds in the eyes of Team McCann?

Team McCann need far better PR than this if they are to sustain themselves over the next few months.

Search for Maddie is reduced to a game. How much sadder can that get?

Give us some info and win a holiday or this or that....

How pathetic can they be?
It's a human life and they're cheapening the importance of her life to a
quick get away for two! Good grief.

Can I just mention for the second time the holiday in Cairo etc is nothing to do with the McCanns!!

I re-posted the article a few posts back to show it is and advertisement for the Express casino. It is in blue and you click on it to visit the Express casino.

Admittedly it has been put in the most stupid place, and is very confusing, but that is exactly how it appears in the online article.

Oh, what a shame. I have never been to Cairo. I quite fancied going there for nothing on the back of a "sighting" or two.

Also Newspaper Editors are very careful about what they put where. That's why it was so funny when one of the McCann's "appeal" videos on Sky was sited right next to an advert that said "Trust Pink - Forget Stains".
