WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
As soon as Hewlett's name was mentioned, over a year ago now I think, many on the McCann-sceptic side, myself included, predicted that one day he would die and that there would be a 'deathbed confession' that he did it or he knew about it.
It was so. so predictable.
Yet even now, it comes as a shock to see it, a shock almost to be proved right.
Of course a decent interval has passed since he died - the timings of the media operations of the McCann Team are always carefully considered.
So many questions about the series of events here...some of them I dare not ask with Carter-Ruck peering over my shoulder:

I know who took Maddie

MADELEINE McCann suspect Raymond Hewlett confessed on his deathbed that he KNEW what happened to the little girl, The Sun can reveal.
In a letter to his estranged son Wayne, he denied having anything to do with Maddie's disappearance.
But he said he knew she had been stolen to order by a gipsy gang who kidnap children for wealthy couples unable to have kids or adopt.
[Picture: Vanished ... Maddie]
Hewlett, a serial paedophile seen near the spot where Maddie was snatched in Portugal, said they had a "shopping list" of potential targets - such as a little girl with blonde hair like Maddie.
Private detectives working for Maddie's parents Kate and Gerry are "extremely interested" in Hewlett's claims.
A source close to their ongoing investigation said: "What he says fits the No1 theory, which is that she was stolen to order."
Hewlett died of throat cancer in April, aged 62, after persistently refusing to meet the McCanns' detectives.
He became a suspect because of his appalling record of rape and abduction of children.
And he was living as a nomad in Portugal with his second family when Maddie vanished from the McCanns' holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in May 2007.
[Picture: Shocked ... son Wayne]
Hewlett's letter to builder Wayne, 40, was delivered to the son by a mystery man - thought to be a solicitor or a private eye - a week after he died.
Most of it was an apology for how his vile crimes had affected his first wife Susan and Wayne.
But then he went on to write about Maddie, who was nearly four when she went missing.
Wayne, of Telford, Shropshire, said: "It was a bolt from the blue and I shook when I read it.
"He stated he didn't want to go to his grave with us thinking he had done such a horrible thing.
"He said he had had nothing to do with taking Maddie but did know who had.
"He said a very good gipsy friend he knew in Portugal had got drunk and 'let it out' that he had stolen Maddie to order as part of a gang.
"My dad said this gang had been operating for a long time and had snatched children before for couples who couldn't have children of their own.
"Maddie had been targeted. They took photos of children and sent them to the people they were acting for. And they said Yes or No.
"Dad said the man told him it was nothing to do with snatching children for a paedophile gang or for a sexual reason.
"He said there were huge sums of money involved. And he totally believed what this man was saying."
The account fits with others surrounding the Maddie mystery.
Several strange men were seen taking photos of children around the Ocean Club resort in the days before she vanished. And The Sun revealed earlier this year that a British expat thought he had seen Maddie in a white van driven by a gipsy couple the day after she was lost.
[Picture: Hope ... parents Kate and Gerry McCann]
Wayne, who had no contact with Hewlett for nearly 20 years, said his father's letter seemed "very genuine".
He added: "I don't know if this is what happened to Maddie or not, but it does make sense. I can't believe he'd go to those lengths to make up some elaborate lie when he was so weak and ill."
Wayne said he considered going to Kate and Gerry with the letter but was worried it could cause them more heartache if it gave them false hope. He added: "I actually burned it because it unnerved me so much.
"To have a letter from someone you hated for so long was just mind-blowing. I couldn't deal with it."
Wayne did not contact The Sun about the message. We learned of its existence through a friend*.
But now he intends to sit down with the Maddie detectives to tell them everything he knows.
The McCanns' spokesman Clarence Mitchell said last night: "We are extremely grateful to Wayne for coming forward with this information and the detective team will be interviewing him as a matter of priority."

* Does anyone recall how Panaroma got to know about the Jon Corner video of the McCanns taken in July 2007? They said something like this: "We learned of its existence...". How??????

Enough said, how convenient there is no proof!!!!!!!!! The first thing you would do is to take the letter to the police, anyone would have done that in such a high profile case not burn it

Ah yes -- important evidence. What shall I do with it?
I know -- I'll burn it! That's a good idea! Well, I mean, it's so scary!
So predictable and such a pile of steaming BULL EXCREMENT.
Report card for Team McCann:
Z-minus, could do much, much better than this. Thoroughly lacking in originality.
See me after school. you dozy wazzocks!

Not the police the British or Portuguese police then. Such a vital piece of evidence and he burned it. Oh dear.

This bit sticks out a sore thumb!
It wasn't a confession!
More like thoughts of a dying man - yeah...so v. important to the dying man that he thought someone should better have it that he put it on pen and paper to be delivered to his son a week later! Yeah, if I believe that, pig could fly!
Seriously are people really serious CR is peering this 'important' forum?
Or it it some underdogs peerin over us?
Christ of a bike, if CR had nothing better to do than peep in on people.......! Blxxxy expensive peeping!
p.s. I've lost the 'line of tool bar' (I think it's called that) where you can bold/underline chose font etc, on the post a reply page. Anyone any idea how to get it back please?

Re: WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
Sods law that he burnt the...errmmm...genuine letter, its authenticity can never be verified now....or am I missing the point
Really though, this is great news. The McCanns must be feeling incredibly excited with this new piece of compelling...cough... evidence. It confirms that Maddie was abducted; I suspect she is being treated like a princess by some filthy rich arabs in distant land. Oh I do hope Gerry tells Sean that it is some drunken filthy gypo he needs to hunt down with his trusted sword, as opposed to a monster - it would not be good if an innocent were wronged.

Does this mean this has set the scene for Amaral to be properly stitched up at the libel trial now they have this confession from a dead man along with burnt evidence?
It really is time for the investigation to be reopened. These people have taken the piss too long now and turned the death of a child into a disgusting spoof.

Re: WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
I did`nt want to post this here as it is a very sensitive subject particulary to those of us who have nursed and lost our loved ones through cancer, but I do think that it is worth pointing out the following.
Hewlett was in the final stages of cancer, anyone who has dealt with a cancer patient will know that at this point the body tends to break down rapidly and the patient is completely dependent on his carers
Hewlett had cancer of the throat, his speach would have been severly distorted.
The patients co-ordination is completely lost, being unable to hold a cup or a fork, the idea that Hewlett penned a letter on his deathbed, in his own hand is ludicrous not to mention impossible.
Hewlett would have been in severe pain and heavily drugged (probably morphine) not to mention the hallucinations usually suffered by cancer patients in their final stages, - how could this letter carry any credibility?
Sorry Antonella but your article is severely flawed.

Re: WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
I saw the same hallucinations with my brother and grandmother when they were dying and on morphine. No way could they have penned a coherent letter to anyone. The lovely girl Katrina from easyjet who has suffered from cancer described in her book about the hallucinations she suffered whilst on morphine.
This lad of Hewletts hadn't seen him for 20 years. How would he know what his fathers hand-writing looked like.
It is frightening what this Lazzeri person is writing in the Sun. It needs to be stopped. I dread to think what her motive is.

Re: WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
Well, this is the smoking gun evidence isn't it, just what is needed to re-open the investigation, a vital piece of NEW evidence. Shame it got burned, oh well, never mind we will just have to take his word for it then. However, I think it would be very interesting if the PJ came over, and together with the British police and interviewed this man about every minescule detail of what he has to say, and perhaps even ask him to take a lie detector test. Perhaps with a lot of questioning, about the mystery man, why did he burn such an important piece of evidence and why wait so long and not tell the McCanns such important news, some interesting things might emerge............
Obviously something is about to happen shortly, and we are being side-tracked again. Could it be to do with Halligen appearing in court today, or the Murat trial in Portugal?

He burned the letter that might hold the clue to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann? How credible does that sound? The man is an attention seeker. Don't insult your reader's intelligence by publishing rubbish like this.

This does not make any logical sense!!. If this man received a letter with important information regarding the McCann Case why, oh why, would he burn it°°!!!!! When you read the article there is nothing new really. Some gypsy man admitted, while drunk, he had taken Madeleline? Sadly I think this is yet another false lead, no doubt this man has been paid for interviews etc? A bit like the press conference revealing the so called Spanish lead about the Posh look-a-like that turned out to be nothing. Yet again we hear about mysterious men taking photographes of children in PDL and yet the McCanns thought it was a safe family friendly resort!!!!
Tragically, we will never know what happened to Madeleine McCann that night.

Do you seriously believe this tripe?
No letter? No evidence? The son, after 20 years is told this and then sells the story, given to him by a father that left him nothing?
Surely if Hewlett knew all this he would have told the police and claimed the £1.5million reward, he was dying anyway, what did he have to lose, his family would have been set up for life.
How can you print this nonsense?

Re: WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
A song for Wayne 'Fahrenheit 451' Hewlett and his co-conspirators :
"I'm gonna sit right down and write young Wayne a letter
And make believe it came from Dad
I'm gonna write words of deceit
They're gonna knock him off his feet
A lotta tenners on the bottom
He'll be glad he's got 'em
I'm gonna smile and say
I hope you're feeling better
Now you have leeched off Maddie too
I'm gonna sit right down and write young Wayne a letter
So all the half-wits will believe it's true"

wonder how much the son got for that bit of bullshit? And if Hewitt was demanding money, there is a reward and suely the Mcgrabbers would have pointed out if his info led to her discovery he would get the cash?

According to the Sun Raymond Hewlett died FOUR months before this article was published on 10th April. Which means around December 2009, so why is this so called letter taken 9 months to come out into the open.

I think the media don't expect most people to be keeping tabs on this story and I expect they suppose the errors will slip under the radar.

I disagree with above comment, they know full well there are forums like these...thats why there is still the spin being applied
Re: WE ALL PREDICTED THIS! [Hewlett's deathbed confession]
Definately a diversionary tactic, we are not the only ones asking questions about Halligen. Why didnt the wealthy couple pay for IVF or AID or do a Maddonna or Brangelina? No ,they decided to hire criminals to kidnap a child whom they could never acknowledge publicly nor allow to see the light of day. Lucky for the paid abductor that the parents were so co-operatively careless. No one inside carter-ruck believes this twaddle nor do the tapasniks or the extended family, they are now definitely accessories after the fact. Last chance to come clean about the multiple misgivings they all must have, even the most gullible of them.

Diversionary tactic usually means some shits are about to hit the fan.
If not, why the need for the disinformation.

too. Paid already probably.
It's a win win situation for the son. Paid by two parties no doubt.
Wonder how much the papers paid for that story?

Is there any really credible evidence that Hewlett was in PDL on May 3rd 2007?

Yeah, so you mean a criminal deserved to be made use of like that?.... for things he hasnt done?
I am referring to him being exploited in this situation?
So you think just because he's a paedophile he deserves what team mccanns did to him - ffs yourself - get a grip of yourself and get it in the right context!
Have you noticed what's this thread title called? "We all predicted this !"
I thought the debate topic here is about a treacherous son who betrayed him......and the people behind it?
