Messages from Steve Marsden about something a police officer is supposed to have said to him in 2009

Post by NickE on 09.07.15 18:51

I do not know if this has been discussed in some other treads but Steve Marsden posted a couple of messages on Facebook a couple of days ago in which he claims he spoke,2009 with a retired police officer,a man close to Amaral outside Lisbon, the police officer told him how Madeleine died.

Snipped:
Steve states: "I have no reason to doubt what he told me." >>>I do not post the message<<<......he expand...
"I am only pointing out what was said in my conversation with the cop near Lisbon. I cannot vouch for the veracity but I know for sure he and Amaral are close and worked together."
IF true, How can the police know about this and kept quiet? and why?

Steve Marsden: "Having ENOUGH evidence to secure a charge of murder doesn't mean they have no evidence of something happening. It has to be cast iron to get a conviction. Amaral told the cop I spoke with near Lisbon Veronica. Remember that the PJ wanted to introduce the text messages as evidence but were denied by the judge. If Amaral were to reveal the content of the texts via a leak it would prejudice the case and the McCanns would walk free and there would never be a case. Plus he'd be jailed for contempt. This is why the McCanns pursue him so much. Why do you think his dog was killed. I just hope Amaral has the texts saved somewhere very secure if he has a copy".

So the withheld evidence Goncalo refers to could include these texts? Which are now admissable under the new law. Or are they, as they are old evidence?

He also claim in one of his comments that this Police officer told him who was responsible for her death.

No.
There was a link to the specific Facebook page posted on another forum, but it`s too horrendous to go posting up in full.  Like NickE says, it seems odd that the PJ would even know about it without a body. I`m sure everyone has seen it now and doubtless the mods here don`t want it posted up as its extremely libellous.

Yes it´s odd,but what bothers me is,this comes from Steve Marsden, my opinion is that he is not that kind of person who just throws out the cruel rumors without any substance at all.

Reading through this post I have the following observations:

1. ‘Stevo’ has been right about a number of things and has done some original research BUT (@ NickE) has often been quite wrong as well
2. We are asked to believe the word of someone who says he spoke to an unnamed policeman who on an unspecified date said some words which ‘Stevo’ has not recorded. He may not have even made contemporaneous notes on this alleged ’phone call. If he has, AFAIK he has never produced them, either in full, or redacted where appropriate
3. We are then told that “If Amaral were to reveal the content of the texts via a leak it would prejudice the case and the McCanns would walk free and there would never be a case”.
4. So according to this, Amaral personally knows the content of these texts. Yet in the very next breath we are told:  “I just hope Amaral has the texts saved somewhere very secure if he has a copy”. So, according to this, then, Amaral may or may not have the texts saved somewhere and, well, he may or may not have kept a copy.
5. We are told about this unnamed policemen: “I know for sure he and Amaral are close and worked together”. Has ‘Stevo’ onfirmed that with Amaral. Incidentallly, one would hope that as the investigation co-ordinator he would have worked ‘closely’ with ALL the senior members of this team.
6. We know from what has been reported elsewhere that Stevo’s claim is that his policeman contact told him that Madeleine died during an act of sexual abuse against her. Supposing the doubters are right - and that Madeleine did die n Praia da Luz and her body hidden. How, under those circumstances, would the police officer KNOW what happened? And in the unlikely event that these tales by ‘Stevo’ and the policeman are true, why were the McCanns or the perpetrator of these alleged acts not charged and prosecuted?
7. ‘Stevo’ says he has ‘no reason to doubt’ what he was told, but adds (which is self-evident) “I cannot vouch for the veracity…” I’m afraid this really doesn’t amount to evidence of any kind.
8. I think Richard IV is right, this is sheer speculation, and very graphic at that, and I think this thread ought to be wound up before we go on another fevered exploration down Stevo’s latest rabbit warren.

[re: "I think this thread ought to be wound up...".  AGREED, and thread locked - Mod.]
