It's been pointed out many times that the PJ bottoms were knee length therefore wouldn't even been seen, let alone making out a pattern from the distance.

Note how Kate uses the same ruffle detail in her cardigan to try to emphasize the ruffles in the PJ bottoms which are barely noticeable upfront let alone from any distance.

Would you have a link to that? Iirc they did not give any statements till much later.

I don't remember every detail, I'm afraid. The statement was given at 11.30 in the morning. However a drawing of eggman was only made public in September/October.
My point was simply from which moment it was public knowledge. I'd have to go through all the press rubbish to find out.
I may revive an old topic on the timelines and changes of abductors.

Since the Smiths didn't come forward for some time, it would be useful to know if their account could be derived from press reports.

JT had never said this and in any event could not possibly have seen them

But also, the weather was cold enough for him to be wearing a jacket, whereas the child is wearing light summer clothing and was not covered in a blanket, as J Tanner remarked.
If you're a parent holding a child who is not adequately dressed for the weather, then the natural thing to do is to snuggle him up close to you to keep him warm.

Crecheman is obviously a figment of A Redwood's imagination; he may have a reason for this, but no way is he real.

Crecheman imo is not real, but there was a man carrying a child in that position during the playing out of the drama because a deceased child was removed from apartment 5a.

Another man was carrying an alive and deeply asleep child towards the beach, wanting to be seen. A risky business. Not Russell, too tall and so would stick in the mind immediately. Not David, easily remembered for the balding head and glasses. Not Matt, with his very close cropped silver hair, also ruled out as he would be probably jittery and ill at ease, unsuitable for the task.

A man of average or just above average height preferable, as would have been the hair of a nondescript mousy brown, cut in an average style.Not an average person however regarding arrogance and maybe even regarding the "rush" to be obtained due to the risk.

Once seen, could return and the drama could play out.

The Smith sighting was useful as long as it did what it was supposed to, once the story was out that Smith's memory kicked in with the walk off the plane on to the tarmac, there would be silence and the burying of those incriminating e fits.

imo as always, I know the controversy over this sighting.

As for Kate drawing attention to it in her book, there must have been an agenda for that. There is always an angle.

I just thought that if he carried a child in a 'left-handed' way, it might be just the kind of detail to jog the memory. But if he's right-handed, I guess not.

The handedness of the abductor was my very first post on here. Gosh that takes me back! It was based on a video I saw on youtube and a member of the public had recreated the position of the bed, window,etc. in her own home, arguing that it just wouldn't have worked that way. It was one of the first things I ever saw in relation to the McCann case.

I wonder would it make any difference wgich handed he was ? I used to carry my kids on left shoulder to leave right hand free to support ,or steady myself to make sure I could put out right hand for other reasons. To walk upstairs for instance I would hold the stair rail with right hand . joyce1938

Generally I think most folk would carry a child starting with their strongest arm, I'm left handed but carried the kids on my right side until tired. Doesn't help much!
