I reckon it's more a case of both (Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder & Rupert Murdoch) belonging to the same 'old boys network'. They both p*ss in the same pot, so to speak. And they're both Bilderbergers that's for sure.

Is it just Carter Ruck who have threatened you or is it something else?
In my opinion you have lost respect from your customer base, especially after making the 'freedom of speech' statement that you made recently.
I am tempted to use other booksellers rather than Amazon.

Willo, hat off to you for that brilliant effort.

Poor you, you must have got a reply from an ignorance customer service staff based out in INDIA who didn't know head or tail and didn't bother to check with HQs before replying to you.

Of course they have to be seen cost effective and competent and not be seen running to HQs for help over every little enquiry they received.

Most companies do that - based their 24/7 hotline in country with cheap labour - cheap labour cheap result which could cost them expensive.

I wrote to Amazon to tell them that I was disgusted that they had pulled Pat Brown's book at the behest of the McCanns.
I asked them whether they were going to do the same with Kate McCann's book given that it contains a number of statements which are potentially libellous e.g. the one about Mrs Fenn.
This is the response I got:

What a waste of keystrokes - they didnt answer to the point.

Just a courtesy reply to demonstrate they have responded to customer, and they complicate complaint procedures for the customer by asking all sorts and inviting customer to phone in. And, the best part is they want customer to take part in their survey.

I wonder where all the feedback (especially the negative and unflattering ones) will end up - will they ever reach management? If they are collected and compiled by outside company maybe, if they are collated by Amazon....hmmm?
