Awful image for a book cover when you look closely looks also like head planted on someone with cleavage, apart from the out of place facial expression.

Problem is, if they wanted to put an image of Madeleine herself on the cover then they weren't exactly spoilt for choice, were they? The best one was already spoken for - ideally the McCanns would have come up with another that has never been in the public domain, but does such a thing exist?

They could of used this, April 2014, most updated 'aged progression' one, couldn't they?

A VERY QUICK FIRST SCAN OF 'LOOKING FOR MADELEINE' - Page 8 Aprilm10

If i didn't know better i'd think ALL these book 'writers' want the public to ALWAYS only 'look' for an almost 4 years old, frozen in time, 'missing' child.

Weird, innit?
Madeleine the young child has now become an iconic image, instantaneously recognizable, and is therefore the best choice for a book cover for any book about her. Not that the book is about her, but you know what I mean. You would tend to use an image for a biography of a famous person as they looked at their most famous to the eyes of the time you are writing in because you need to create a cover that sells books. If it's David Atemborough, you'd use the picture of him as an elderly man because that's what we remember most on our screens. If it's James Garner, you might use a younger, 'Rockford Files' era image because he looked very different as an old man. I watched a whole film with him in it only to be shocked to see it was James when the end-titles rolled. The age-progressed image is just a possibility, not necessarily truth. That's just a theory, by the way, but I think it might offer an explanation. There's a very good pencil drawing I've seen of Madeleine that would make a nice cover though.

Could the drawing be the one done by HiDeHo's daughter?

http://forum2.aimoo.com/MadeleineMcCann
That's the one! It's excellent! Not just the artistic side but also the way it captures a sadness none of the photos does. I'm not saying here that she would have been sad, but that artwork has emotional depth as well as capturing likeness in an almost photo-like way. I'd love to see the artist's 'Maddie' in coloured pencils because done well such a medium can be simply stunning.

A VERY QUICK FIRST SCAN OF 'LOOKING FOR MADELEINE' - Page 8 Empty Looking for Madeleine...?

Tony Bennett wrote: SUMMERS & SWAN BOOK CONTINUED

MARCOS ARAGAO CORREIA AND THE ‘ABDUCTION’ OF JOANA CIPRIANO

I am going to quote this passage from the Summers & Swan book, about the dodgy, lying lawyer Marcos Aragao Correia, in full, (pp. 218-9):

“Three years later, Aragao Correia would publish a book entitled: ‘The Love Spirits: The Little Girls Who Came from the Stars, a ‘fantastic adventure book that includes real facts’.

“It combined, he wrote, his ‘knowledge from more than a decade studying the parapsychology and the paranornal, along with important information gleaned during investigations of the Madeleine McCann and Joana Cipriano abductions”.

Abductions? Abductions? Do Summers & Swan really not know that Leonor Cipriano  and her brother Joao murdered Joana, made voluntary confessions to murdering her and disposing of her body while pretending that she had been abducted, and were justly found guilty of the murder and sentenced each to 16 years and 16 years 8 months in prison respectively ? To omit this kind of information would be to perpetrate a deliberate fraud on the readers of this book! And this is indeed a book replete with blatant lies and major omissions.

Then, for good measure, Summers & Swan add this: ”Joana was the eight-year-old who had vanished, presumed murdered, three years before Madeleine (see p. 110)”.

If we go back to p. 110, we see a number of innuendos that Leonor Cipriano and her brother were unjustly convicted, a theme rehearsed in a number of British newspapers who reproduced, time and time again, a picture of Joana Cipriano, with two black eyes, said by the British press to have been caused by Dr Goncalo Amaral and his bunch of police thugs beating her up. In fact, evidence suggests, rather, that she was beaten up good and proper by her new fellow inmates at Odemira Women’s Prison.

But back to p. 110, here are Summers and Swan’s innuendos against Dr Amaral:

“Within twenty-four hours, on 4 May, chief investigator Goncalo Amaral had himself been declared a formal suspect - an arguido - in court proceedings that had to do with another missing girl probe and which were to sully his reputation as a police officer”.

[Not mentioning how Summers and Swan have sullied their own reputations by putting their names to this book - T.B.]

They continue (p. 110): “[Joana’s] mother and uncle had been convicted of murdering her, though no body was ever found. Then, from prison, their mother claimed she had ben tortured into confessing by three of Amaral’s detectives…Amaral would be handed a suspended sentence for making a false statement”.

They carry on:

“In 2007, when the charges against Amaral in the Cipriano case were announced just over  a month into the Madeleine McCann case, the McCanns said through their spokesman that they were ‘naturally very concerned’. It does seem remarkable that Amaral should have been allowed to play a leading role in a major investigation - into the disappearance of another missing girl - where the odour of possible professional misconduct was in the air”.

Then on p. 111 is another calculated smear by Summers & Swan:

“Just before Amaral was charged in connection with the Cipriano case, the British press ran a story suggesting that he was not taking the case seriously. He had been observed taking lunch at a Portimao fish restaurant in the company of Chief Inspector de Sousa. The report stated that there had ben wine and a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label on the table, and the officers had appeared to be enjoying themselves.

“They had asked for the television to be turned on to catch the news - this was when the McCanns were in Berlin giving a press conference - and, a fellow diner said, were ‘laughing and joking amongst themselves while it was on…[they] seemed to be sharing some sort of in-joke’.”

STATEMENTS BY MARCOS ARAGAO CORREIA THAT DIDN’T MAKE THE SUMMERS AND SWAN BOOK

Bearing in mind that Marcos Aragao Correia was on his own admission chosen by Brian Kennedy to work for the McCann Team (via Metodo 3) - and was employed both on what appeared to be the Arade Dam hoax and the on the prosecution of Goncalo Amaral and four fellow PJ detectives in the Cipriano case - Summers and Swan could have given their readers a much better picture of this rogue and charlatan had they included these passages from a lengthy interview Marcos Aragao Correia gave to a journalist in 2009:

1ST QUOTE:

Aragao Correia (speaking about his book) told the journalist: “I mix true facts with imaginary ones, dealing with new aspects of the private investigation that Maddie’s parents carried out into their daughter’s disappearance. In the book I speak about my powers as a medium - and how those powers were useful to develop a private investigation that counted on the support of the Método 3 Detective Agency. I wanted to employ that gift of mine to help discover hard truths about the disappearance of Maddie, without in any way using my gift for material gain. My goal was not to earn money - especially as I am fortunate enough to lead an economical life in Madeira without any financial difficulties - but simply to help those parents who were so distraught and living in such a distressed state. One of the major teachings of spiritualism is that it is only through helping others that we are able to help ourselves. That was what I intended to do in this case: to help this little girl, showing her my all-conquering, precious love”.

And then this 2nd QUOTE:

“Método 3 submitted me to a test in order to prove beyond all doubt whether or not my medium abilities and my accounts were credible. They were fed up with following false leads. The fact is that the test gave totally positive results, according to what was confirmed to me personally by the Director of Método 3 in Barcelona herself. Following my mediumistic abilities passing Método 3’s stringent tests, Método 3 offered full support to my research. But given the fact that Maddie’s parents preferred to spend the decreasing money from the Find Madeleine Fund mainly following leads based on the belief that their daughter was still alive, they dismissed the possibility of paying professional divers to search the dam. So I offered myself to pay for the first phase of the searches in the dam, having later received much support, including financial support, from mediums and spiritualists who believed in and corroborated my theory”.

CHAPTER 5

Four pages about the bogus charity collectors.

Two pages about lots of burglars.

Two pages about a suspicious man seen by Tasmin Sillence and by ‘a woman who has asked not to be identified’ (p. 63)

One page about the Carole Tranmer sighting of a suspicious man.

A one-page summary of these suspicious men.

Then Summers and Swan conclude this chapter with:

“It was some five hours after Carole Tranmer’s sighting of the man in the lane that Madeleine McCann vanished” (p. 65).

More later

Just out of curiosity - has anyone else read the Aragao Correia book?

I must thank Tony Bennett for reviewing the bewk so quickly and in-depth. clapping1

So did the bewk give one fact to prove that there was an abductor? NO.

Did the bewk demonstrate that the McCanns were not involved? NO.

So it's just another book and serialisation to keep the wheels of the Gravy Train rolling and the McCanns out of jail.

For a Definitive book, the lies and omissions are unbelieveable. As one lady reviewer said "If I could have given zero stars , I would have".

I'm suspicious of anybody who claims somebody broke into their house, and a) they didn't bother chasing the man so as to get more than just a look at his 'legs', and b) couldn't be bothered to call police even though they thought he could be a paedophile.  Sorry, it didn't happen.

Well said Joana, I cannot abide people who resort to name calling when others do not agree with their way of thinking.     IMO calling people haters because they point out things they do not want pointed out says all.

I hope Joana can get this copyright issue sorted and news of it published in one of the Portugese papers for all to see.  I don't think there is any point hoping UK media will oblige.

Pulitzer finalists - should we all bow down to them or sumat.   Couldn't care less myself.

Keep up the good work Joana. clapping

Exactly, it doesn't seem like a phrase a pair of accomplished writers would resort to using, even if it is
one frequently used by TM so I would be more likely to believe they didn't work as independently
from them as they would like people to believe.

I'm wondering...is it actually copyright infringement if a source is quoted partially but not extensively, and especially when credit is given to that source? I'd go more for the libel angle myself. Using that word 'hater' and the way it has been attributed looks more likely to make a few people uneasy in their seats. You'd think that this pair of so-called 'professional' writers would know better!

In my opinion.

A VERY QUICK FIRST SCAN OF 'LOOKING FOR MADELEINE' - Page 8 Empty my review of Looking for Madeleine on Amazon

Post by Enid O'Dowd 14.09.14 15:24

Below a review I have just posted on Amazon. I would have liked to have written more but felt such a long review might not be published. Currently there are 11 reviews (4 five star, 1 two star and 6 one stars):

The advertising blurb states that ‘the authors demonstrate that the speculation that the McCanns played a part in their daughter’s fate is unfounded.’

Surely that means that a significant part of the book looks at all the reasons why sceptics claim the parents might be involved, then repudiates them with logical argument and with new research material.

And, a definitive and independent book as the publisher claims this is, would need to interview the main players: the parents, their tapas friends, Senor Amaral and independent witnesses like the Smith family who saw a man carrying a child that evening.  It doesn’t; none of these people have talked to the authors which is not surprising considering that the case is still open.

This book is a combination of madeleine by Kate McCann and a rehash of various sightings/news articles over the years. One has to remember that many media articles are based on press releases issued by the McCann PR team. Indeed, one poster on a popular internet site suggests that the McCanns were the ghost writers of this book!

I don’t feel the authors had an open mind as they don’t question actions by the McCanns which have raised doubts in the public mind.

For example they don’t ask why the McCanns didn’t use the paying babysitting service provided by the nannies who worked in the daytime crèche.  They only mention the evening crèche, as Kate did in her book saying it did not meet her needs as her children were in bed before it opened.  She also said in her book that she would not have wanted to leave them with a stranger (babysitter) yet she left them in the crèche all day with the same girls who were (initially) strangers. She praised the nannies in her book yet never mentioned the option of using their services in the evening. Why would a group of well paid professionals opt to get up every 30 minutes from their dinner to check children when a satisfactory (paying) babysitting service was available?

Kate has justified the checking service by feeling so safe in the resort. But parents use babysitters not to deter the million to one chance of a kidnapping but to deal with children waking up/bad dreams/need a drink/ wet nappies/minor health issues etc.

It is not credible that the McCanns and their friends opted for an interrupted dinner rather than paying a babysitter. This makes the abduction story highly suspect.

Why do Summers and Swan, themselves the parents of three young children, not raise this issue?

Another issue the authors don’t raise, except in passing, is the setting up of a private limited company only days after Madeleine’s disappearance. I have published original research on this company Madeleine’s
Fund: Leaving No Stone Unturned on http://mccannfiles.com/

The audited accounts of this company, despite a commitment in the book madeleine that it would be open and transparent ‘whatever it cost,’ have contained only the minimum information required by law, apart from the accounts for the period May 2007-March 2008 where detail was given, but which raised more questions than it answered.  The accounts are not on the official McCann website.  Why not?

Many people have queried the need for, and the secrecy of the company. Why has this not been addressed by the authors?

One interesting quotation from the book about the company:

‘The McCanns have not sought to profit from their situation – and Madeleine’s Fund has built in provisions to ensure this does not occur.’

They do not explain what those provisions are. It is not good enough to state something as a fact and not back it up.

The authors do this again in Chapter 15 which starts with the statement ‘there was never the smallest shred of fact or evidence to inculpate Maddie’s parents in any way at all.’

Even to someone whose knowledge of the case is limited, this statement is obviously untrue.

The authors do not mention the sworn statement made by the Gaspars, two doctors who went on an earlier holiday with the group. This statement has caused much concern among those who follow this case.

While it may not indicate anything untoward, it was for unexplained reasons held back by the UK police for months before being passed to Portugal. It can be read on http:///mccannfiles.com/

Surely the content of this statement and the delay in passing it to the Portuguese authorities is worthy of analysis by the authors?

I was very concerned by the use of the loaded word ‘haters’ to describe those who doubt the McCanns.

Chapters 15 and 16 deal with prominent doubters (my preferred word), and the authors' bias comes through.

For example they mention that the website http://mccannfiles.com set up in 2007 by Nigel Moore has long had a donate button and still does now. Why is this negative? They admit that he, according to press reports, gives the website work his virtual full time attention. Isn’t it  reasonable for him to suggest that people who use the mass of information he provides make a voluntary donation towards his running costs?

They write about Bren Ryan, former McCann doubter, who changed her mind ‘after reading the police files.’ But they do not state what therein was the cause. It would have been very interesting to hear her reasons. By way of contrast it would have been pertinent to have comments from someone who became a doubter after reading the police files.

In summary, it’s surprising that a pair of authors with such impressive CVs have come up with this rehash of the information and misinformation already in the public domain.  This book is not investigative journalism. Its publication has created a new mystery. Why have the authors put their reputation on the line by producing a book like this?

A VERY QUICK FIRST SCAN OF 'LOOKING FOR MADELEINE' - Page 8 Empty Re: A VERY QUICK FIRST SCAN OF 'LOOKING FOR MADELEINE'

Post by jeanmonroe 14.09.14 16:00

Probably been mentioned:

ON S&S own FB page:

Vicki Golightly Just noticed! Duh me!

Direct quote from Summers & Swan:

"Both invesitigations have ruled out Madeleine's parents as suspects and are pursuing the theory of an abduction"

PURSUING THE THEORY OF an ABDUCTION! .................................A "THEORY" of an 'abduction'!

SO, NOT "definitive, definite, absolute" "THE ABDUCTION" as stated in the Met Police 'REMIT'!

SO entirely contrary to the McCanns repeated , ad nauseum, "MADELEINE WAS ABDUCTED" (definitive, absolute, beyond contestation) S&S are now, on record, as saying that 'ABDUCTION' of Madeleine McCann is, in FACT, ONLY a THEORY, and that police are investigating/pursuing this 'THEORY'.

Their 'paymasters' are not going to like that, one little bit, are they?

And as S&S have said that the police are investigating only a THEORY of an 'abduction' then, logically, there must be OTHER 'theories' under investigation.

I have a 'theory' about Madeleine's 'disappearance'.

Do i think S&S want to hear my 'theory'?

I THINK NOT!

I suppose THEY could 'correct' their 'observation' and say on their FB page 'that the abduction of Madeleine McCann is NOT a THEORY, it's a FACT, as K&G McCann have TOLD us'

Hi Jean. Was it you who asked who Pam Gurney is?   I personally, have no idea but she just keeps contradicting everything everyone else says on that thread.  She's a one man band at the moment. obviously a pro mccann.

I don't know who Pam Gurney is but she's very active on twitter,  I've been engaged with someone in a debate before over the McCanns and she cannot resist putting her two penneth in. She  is completely mad so I wouldn't pay any attention to what she says

She's a 72 year old woman whose husband is a 74 year old Liverpudlian. I won't reveal any more.

I've now looked at the above debate on Amazon, and I have to say that PG is no match for Vten. Vten is articulate, well-educated, and puts his/her points across perfectly. On the other hand, Pamelag's is rambling and badly punctuated. My advice to Pamelag is to give up whilst she's behind titter

Looks like they can’t even attribute the quotes correctly.

Good work Mr Murray.

I'm suspicious of anybody who claims somebody broke into their house, and a) they didn't bother chasing the man so as to get more than just a look at his 'legs', and b) couldn't be bothered to call police even though they thought he could be a paedophile.  Sorry, it didn't happen.

That must be S&S revelation moment that the 'Mummy-man' had been on the prowl for quite some time until he got lucky with Madeleine,  The problem is this woman said she couldn't be certain because she saw only the man's leg and guess what she made no mention of the laundry-bound feet.  By suggesting that all kind of mummified-feet perverts loiter around on the prowl to prey on any left-unattended child S&S are giving PDL a bad name.

Funny how S&S did not track down the woman in question to interview her, but somehow miraculously not only knew who her friend was, also managed to track and  pin down her friend to give them a hearsay account.  A second-hand account from a nameless friend of a nameless woman with a cock&bull story. What a load of shites![/quote]

If that story was true, the world would've known about it on the 4th May IMO

I have said it before, and i will say it again S&S have been used and abused by TM' independent from Kate and Gerry my foot, Imo the McCann's knew what was going to be in this book and they knew Imo that the truth seekers wouldn't buy it, but hey ho I DOUBT kate or Gerry give a bugger about the reputations of Swan and Summers so long has it fits with there agenda of Madeleine's been Abducted and we are the innocent victims of hateful trolls.
