They know Praia da Luz. They know each other. They made phone calls on the night of the disappearance. Some have a record for petty crimes. Others are former workers from the Ocean Club. Seven Portuguese and British nationals fit in this profile, and are now, for Scotland Yard (SY) the new suspects of Madeleine McCann's disappearance.
The group is going to be constituted as arguido [formal suspect] and interrogated by the Judiciary Police (PJ), who are also going to question four witnesses at the request of the British authorities. In the list of the eleven people there is at least one woman.
The proceedings are scheduled for the last week of November, at the PJ's South Directorate in Faro. They appear in the fifth rogatory letter and were authorized by the new prosecutor at the Public Ministry of Portimão, Inês Sequeira, to whom the process was assigned.
These new seven arguidos will join the other four men constituted as arguidos and questioned in July. The British investigation now has eleven suspects.
The Scotland Yard thesis remains unchanged. On May 3, 2007, there was a failed robbery at the apartment 5A where the McCanns left their three children alone to go to dinner. Madeleine, then aged three years old, woke up and was abducted so she wouldn't recognize and accuse the intruders - a crime that may have been committed by one of the arguidos or by several, in association. This was one of the theories followed by the PJ at the time [2007] and eventually dismissed due to the lack of evidence that a burglary had ever taken place at the apartment.
The new phase of the SY investigation comes at a time when the British press reported that Andy Redwood's team was scaled back and now has fewer people working on it.
The English detectives will have to request the permission of the National Directorate of the PJ to be able to follow the inquiries and interrogatories in Faro, as it happened in July.

I think this means that we have two possibilities:

EITHER

The United Kingdom is blessed, in the person of Detective Chief Insepctor Andy Redwood, with one of the most brilliant detectives the world has ever seen, combing hundreds of thousands of pages of documents, tens of thosuands of mobile 'phone records, and records relating to hundreds of registered sex offenders, to have finally trapped the ELEVEN persons responsible for Madeleine's abduction

OR

It is one of the most devious and elaborate of whitewashes, charades and cover-ups in world history.

I can't see much scope for anything in between those two possibilities

Should the case again be shelved at some point in the future as is looking somewhat likely if there is any truth in the above, then surely the case files will be released, demonstrating how/why OG arrived at their hypothesis?  It appears to be a right of those made arguido in Portugal that any case against them is made public if a criminal investigation involving them is closed or shelved then, given that everything has to be done on OG via the PJ the bulk of this information is likely to be made publicly accessible.  While transparency of this kind may not in itself prevent any cover up if that is intended it will make it more difficult (impossible?) to achieve.  Even if not, any release of files on this current investigative phase should provide some interesting "revelation moments", however we would have to wait and see.

Abducted so she wouldn't RECOGNIZE them ???

WTF: so she knew them already?

How?

And does this really, really exclude the option of the poor mite having been offed after something very untoward being done to her: to prevent her from recognizing the perpetrator and pointing him (her?) out to -lets say- her parents?

Madeleine McCann investigators questioning Britons as new official suspects over the girl's disappearance in Portugal
By Gerard Couzens for MailOnline 09:48 10 Nov 2014, updated 09:53 10 Nov 2014

•The Britons are among seven people due to be questioned as 'arguidos'
•The seven suspects know the Praia da Luz resort where Madeleine, then aged three, vanished from on May 3 2007, it was reported
•Some are said to have criminal records, reports Portuguse newspaper
Britons will be quizzed as new suspects over missing Madeleine McCann's disappearance, it was claimed today.
The British nationals are among a group of seven people due to be questioned as arguidos - a Portuguese legal term roughly translating as 'formal suspect' - leading Portuguese daily Jornal de Noticias reported.
Four more will be interviewed as witnesses towards the end of the month at a police station in Faro.

Some are also said to have criminal records and others are ex-workers of the Ocean Club holiday resort where Madeleine, three at the time, was staying with her parents.
It is not known how many of the group of seven, which also includes Portuguese nationals, are British.
Neither was it clear last night if they continue to live in Praia da Luz or have now moved away from the town.

The fact they are set to be questioned as arguidos show the Operation Grange officers probing Madeleine's disappearance are still focusing on the theory she was killed during a bungled break-in.
Three of the four suspects questioned at the start of July were quizzed because British police suspected they were involved in a burglary at apartment 5A where Madeleine was sleeping with her twin siblings Sean and Amelie, now nine.
At least one of the 11 people set to be quizzed later this month is thought to be a woman.
British police are now in the process of formally asking for permission to sit in on the interviews, which will be led by Portuguese officers who will ask questions on their behalf.
The Operation Grange team last visited Portugal a month ago.

A small team of three officers including DCI Andy Redwood met Policia Judiciaria bosses in Faro for an update meeting before travelling to the university city of Coimbra a five hour drive north to visit a lab where many of the DNA samples collected after Madeleine's disappearance are held.
British police told bosses at Portugal's Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences they wanted to retest some of the samples to try to crack the mystery of Madeleine's disappearance.
They are yet to send a sixth international letter of request which mother-of-four Mrs Sequeira will have to authorise before Met Police forensics experts are allowed access to the lab or given permission to take samples to Britain to analyse them.
The forensic material includes hairs and pieces of the curtains that hung in apartment 5A.
It emerged late last month nearly 100 strands of hair tested during the original Madeleine McCann investigation were never DNA-matched.

The Operation Grange inquiry is running in parallel with a new Portuguese probe, reopened in May more than five years after being shelved.
Scotland Yard detectives dug up waste ground and inspected sewers in Praia da Luz in June in a grim search for her body.
One of the suspects questioned in July was a former Ocean Club worker and another a 51-year-old schizophrenic drug addict. They both denied any involvement in Madeleine's disappearance.
Portuguese police believe Madeleine was snatched by a foreigner no longer living in Portugal.
However they have still not formally ruled out the involvement of junkie burglar Euclides Monteiro, whose widow they questioned last year, despite the fact DNA tests have put him in the clear.
Last month it emerged the cost of the British police search for Madeleine will soon top £10million double the original amount estimated by the Home Office when the force was called in by David Cameron in 2011.
The Home Office has defending the rising cost of the probe, insisting: 'The Government believes it is right that it does all it can to support the search for Madeleine McCann.'

Welcome to the forum.

I think the fact that at the end of November, another highly-paid team of Operation Grange staff plus translators will be jetting to Faro to interview another seven arguidos=suspects is correctly reported.

They will sit patiently in their chairs watching Portuguese police officers interviewing these suspects, no doubt going through a mammoth list of 253 or more questions, like they did last time. Asking such penetrating questions as: "Did you kill Madeleine McCann?" - I believe that all four suspects were asked that question last time and, presumably, they all answered either 'No' or 'No Comment'.

Like all the other exercises by OG in Praia da Luz, the time and expenses of the Portuguese judicial and investigatory officers will be paid - according to a number of press reports - by the British taxpayers. They have probably already invoiced the British for the helicopters, staff and translators used at the previous rogatory interviews of suspects, all the personnel required to facilitate Redwood's highly-publicised searches, etc.

As for the theory that they were part of a group of burglars carrying out a robbery, Madeleine (but not the children) woke up, the robber(s) panicked, and abducted her - to be honest that is very close to the statements that DCI Andy Redwood has made on the record in the past year or so about what may have happened.

He has indeed spoken about a burglary that went wrong.

He has suggested that Madeleine might have been dead before she left the apartment.

He has said that the abduction may have occurred between 9.15pm and 10.00pm.

He has organised two massively expensive searches of patches of ground in Praia da Luz close to a route which might have been followed from Apartment G5A to where the alleged Smith sighting took place.

He told 6.7 million viewers on the BBC CrimeWatch McCann Show on 14 October 2013 that his 'central focus' was now finding the bloke on the two e-fits of very different-looking men.

And as the above Daily Mail report (thanks for posting, NickE) reminds us, quote: "Three of the four suspects questioned at the start of July were quizzed because British police suspected they were involved in a burglary at apartment 5A where Madeleine was sleeping with her twin siblings Sean and Amelie, now nine. At least one of the 11 people set to be quizzed later this month is thought to be a woman".

@ Monty Heck

It would certainly be fascinating to read the 253 questions asked of Sergei Malinka and the other three suspects last time round back in the summer - and their answers

It's just such an appalling theory. This is a burglar that knows PDL and the resort very well. While checking out the loot, a bleary-eyed toddler (in the dark, having just woken up, in a place she doesn't know) appears. Maddie - sharp as a button - immediately realises he is up to no good (rather some friend or babysitter) - clocks his appearance, his clothes - ready for the inevitable photo-fit and police line-up that will follow the next morning.

The burglar meanwhile knows full well that he cannot be arrested, let alone convicted, on the word of a toddler. However, instead of simply heading off into the night a free man, he prefers to become a child-killer; murders Maddie leaving not a single trace, takes her body away, runs through the village with her and then buries her.

Either AR is the biggest fool ever to grace the corridors of SY, or he believes the UK public is.

Redwood et al could do well to return from Portugal via Catalonia, where he could well come across on Kikorattan.

All on this forum who seek the truth should simply google 'Dewi Lennard ' to find Dewi's many tweets.

His research is based on facts, in contrast to the pitiful efforts of OG.

The facts point to a reality which cannot be ignored.

Read the tweets and see for yourselves.

welcome DaSteelMan

The PJ also refrain from giving running commentaries, which leaves a lot of room for speculation on the part of those who aren't privy to either of the two ongoing investigations into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and also provides opportunity for 'the family source' to put their oar into waters which they've gone to some lengths to muddy.    .

Since Redwood and Co. must know that there is not one shred of evidence that a burglary had occurred, perhaps they are using the word 'burglar' in a very creative way.

Perhaps they are working on a theory that someone was paid to remove the body from the apartment and to store the body safely until proper disposal could be arranged.

One hopes that there is more to Redwood than is apparent up until now!!??

And THERE, finally, IS the........ 'SHE'....(Burglator)............. GM was 'told' by DCI Mahogany to er, 'mention', 'slip in/slip out' outside the courtroom in Lisbon!

http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-07-08/mccanns-speak-of-fear-kidnapper-may-strike-again/

Gerry McCann said that their daughter's kidnapper must have been "laughing" at Amaral's claims that there was no abduction and they hid the girl's body.

"He or SHE or they may strike again," he said. "

imo, obviously!

All on this forum who seek the truth should simply google 'Dewi Lennard ' to find Dewi's many tweets.

His research is based on facts, in contrast to the pitiful efforts of OG.

The facts point to a reality which cannot be ignored.

Read the tweets and see for yourselves.
I would caution fellow-members and guests here from swallowing the theories of Dewi Lennard = kikoratton.

Granted, he has done a lot of original research.

His theory can be summarised thus:

* Months before they went on holiday to Praia da Luz, the McCanns conspired with another family for Madeleine to be murdered on the day they got to Portugal (28 April 2007), after which they and the other family would pretend that their own daughter Madeleine was actually Madeleine McCann.

He was pressed repeatedly on this forum to provide sufficient evidence in support of this theory, but failed to do so.

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"

Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

Dr What wrote:Since Redwood and Co. must know that there is not one shred of evidence that a burglary had occurred, perhaps they are using the word 'burglar' in a very creative way.

Perhaps they are working on a theory that someone was paid to remove the body from the apartment and to store the body safely until proper disposal could be arranged.

One hopes that there is more to Redwood than is apparent up until now!!??
Yes - I think this may be the case..

The burglator was only in the apartment for a matter of minutes real time, according to the TM timelines. Yet there was an incredible deep cleanse operation and a cadaver needed to lay in situ, more than one situ, for at least an hour to leave the required scent for those pesky muts.

Maybe this buglator is a time traveller with an anti-gravity space craft who travels via a wormhole to an alternative galaxy. Makes as much sense as the OG theorem.

I always said the "aliens did it" theory should not be ruled out.

Tony, why should you caution people to not believe a theory coz there is no evidence available? I believe Kiko is right about the creche register coz the entries do not look right at all. Regarding whether there was a plan to kill Madeleine is another matter. If the evidence for that is held among the McCanns and tapas members we may never know. I think Madeleine died at the w/e and have done since 2007 as it would have taken a few days to organise what needed doing.

I think this case has sent out the message that if ever anyone is in a "situation" tell the police nothing at all...except if you are innocent and need their help.

We believe there was no abduction coz there is no evidence. I find the word swallow a leading suggestion. Carry on, Tony, lol.

Here we go again. Tony Sledgehammer Bennett.

I invited forum readers to search and to see for themselves. Not sure that I asked you Tony to read and interpret on their behalf.

If this goes on then it looks as though the forum will only be allowed to debate Smithman, and we know already that there is only one path to tread on that path without being 'sledegehammered'.

Sorry to have make this post but really Tony, there are people out there with sensible minds and with views that do not correspond your own. You do not have to win every exchange. It may be that it is this kind of behavior that closes down debate on the forum and successfully disrupts discussion ?

Time for me to fade into the background again.

Good to see that Gerard Couzens &  the pathetically poor ‘Mail’ still can’t get it right, even when it has been explained to them many times over that the pumpkin photo was shown by themselves in their paper years ago!

Beneath the photo:

‘Missing: Earlier this month a new picture of three-year-old Madeleine dressed as a pumpkin was released by a campaign group with the blessing of her parents.’

Team mccann still in full spin so. Good marketing ploy, all the major yearly events covered. Hard to credit it's not product placement but their own daughter at stake.

Pro’s are too busy on twitter this afternoon as I didn’t notice one positive comment so far. Mail has even let this one slip through which is unusual:

Rhonda, Hants, 3 hours ago

‘In 2008 when the Portugese Police archived the case they released the investigation files to the public. Type "mccann files" into Google search to read the original police files, witness statements etc and make your own mind up about what happened to Maddie.’
