SY INVESTIGATION

Hope I have found the right place to post this.

Couple of things have been niggling me with regards to the investigation. We all know about the discrepancies with regard to the McCanns and their friends. No-one in their right mind would ignore this and just brush it aside so my point is that maybe the police have spoken to them and just maybe they have admitted to something that may or may not be legal? This could explain why SY say they are not persons of interest.........This is just a thought.
Would love to here what other posters thoughts were? new

I think if we read it carefully SY said that the Tapas 9 were not within the 38 persons of interest.
The rest was left hanging . . .

It is very hard to fathom out why the three other couples agreed to go along with the regular checks story. I personally think that, while there does seem to be evidence that the McCann children were regularly left alone, I don't believe that the rest of the group was so thoughtless.

I can accept that a story was cobbled together to explain away how Madeleine came to be missing and, in their arrogance, the McCanns never dreamed that they would be doubted.

It doesn't explain though why they then turned the story of a lost child into a giant commercial enterprise, with their stories and behaviour becoming more bizarre as time went on and making it even clearer than it was at the beginning that they weren't being truthful.

If any or all of the Tapas group had been engaged in anything illegal - I won't speculate on what that could be - I'm sure that as long as it involved only consenting adults, they needn't have worried too much.

The priority was only to find Madeleine - or was it?

If this was a book we were reading we'd think "this is stupid, who would do that, the police aren't numbskulls who would buy such rubbish?"
And we'd be very hard put to think of an ending that would make sense of everything in the book, we definitely need Hercule Poirot and his little grey cells because none of it makes any sense.

Thanks everyone for the input.I personally cannot understand how SY can ignore the facts....was just trying to find a scenario where it would be acceptable.

I always think that small letters for names are impolite - like "madeleine" as the title of Kate's novel!

Barry George was still in prison in 2007 so he's safe!
