Is it possible that David Payne (mutual friend to everyone on the holiday) brought sedatives round when he called in to see Kate at the apartment at 6-6.30pm?
The Tapas 7 must have had a very good reason to want to keep a secret for the McCann's (if indeed they did), from the statements it's quite clear that most of the group didn't know GM and KM very well, so less reason to lie for them?
Alternatively, could any of the Tapas 9 have been taking illegal drugs? If MM had taken an illegal drug by mistake, then her parents might have wanted to avoid being tested for the same drug themselves? Equally other members of the group.
Sorry, if this has been discussed before, I've not seen it anywhere.
