I have never been convinced by the theory that all the children were in one apartment. Who would volunteer to look after 6 small children, including babies with diarrhea? Even new men would flinch at that task.

As for the bathing? Who knows, it may be that if they were all socialising in one apartment, to save time they may have stuck all the kids in the bath together - which the kids would of course love. If they were crying when they were being bathed they might have wanted mummy or daddy?

It may have been a freudian slip, imo, Kate is not a very hands on mother, and I suspect she and her macho husband were probably happy to hand the bathing over to whoever volunteered.

The most likely explanation however, imo, is that given the half ass parenting skills and sheer ignorance of Kate and Gerry, they may well have left the tots on their own in the bath whilst they shared a glass of New Zealand vino oblivious to the cries of the kids coming from the bathroom. Kate is possibly the only mother in history who is able to take a shower and leave 3 toddlers on their own reading books in an unfamiliar apartment - I couldn't even escape for a 'quick' trip to the bathroom when I only had one toddler to look after!

Could it be that when Payne paid his visit to Kate in her towel for 30 seconds/30 minutes he was going round to bathe the children? Just a question.

I don't believe he went there at all. According to Dianne Webster's first statement, he went back to their flat and bathed their children with DW. Fiona Payne was the one who was unaccounted for, according to her own mother.

I'm agnostic on this but I don't for one moment believe that these well heeled professionals didn't have mobile phones with them at all times. So hypothetically it would be a case of you taking your turn to babysit and if a child got upset during the night you would call the parents.

However, I agree with you entirely about the parenting skills on display. My recollection of looking after under 4s was you couldn't leave them unsupervised for a moment. The noise masking from a shower would mean you were leaving awake 3 and unders completely unsupervised for however long you shower (let's say 10 minutes). They could be rifling through your medicines, seeing how the kettles works, choking on their biscuit, discovering the bottle of bleach...anything.

Is it possible that the Tapas group had a private babysitter who looked after all of the children in one flat while the adults went out to enjoy themselves? Just thinking outside the box. Which creche nanny was upset at the news of Madeleine's disappearance - even though she'd had very little to do with Madeleine in the creche and ostensibly had only met the McCanns for the first time during the holiday? Was it Cat Baker? Is it possible she was hired privately to look after all the children during the evenings? Or could it have been someone else that we have yet to identify?

Edited to add what Cat Baker said to the PJ:

She adds that there is another service that is offered during dinner time called "Dining Out Service", which is also located above the Ocean Club's main reception, and operates from 19H30 until 23H30.

There is also a "Babysitting" service, which runs from 19H30 to 01H00, and is carried out in the apartment of the requesting guests;

The witness mentions that as a nanny she works at all the above mentioned locations, because like all of her colleagues, she is subject to a rotating schedule, which means that they change the physical location and the age group of the children that they look after, on a weekly basis.

-----------------------
I realize that nothing has ever been mentioned by any nannies about babysitting in any of the Tapas apartments... but perhaps it's information that might not have been volunteered, for any number of reasons?

Is it possible?

The PJ say that the kids were all in one apartment.

At least one member of the tapas group was away from the table each night - tummy bugs etc.

On may 3rd, the nannies were all up town except for two, Cat Baker and one other.  They claim that they were asleep in their apartment.

Cat baker is a Facebook friend of Chloe, Jon Corners daughter and a few of the Wright family.  She is pictured with the McCanns and the twins in Praia Da Luz and also visited them at home in Rothley.

Cat Bakers reaction was way over the top for someone who had only met the child a few days before. Not eating, not sleeping, in a worst state than Kate.

The PJ need to question Cat Baker further, but she is in New York at the moment

Apologies for being lazy.. Yes i know i should refer to the files.

A quick question in regards to the 'illness' of each Tapas Group member. Does anyone have a breakdown of who was ill on what day / night?

Could someone fill in the blanks.

Who was ill....

First night:

Second night:

Third night:

Fourth night:

Fifth Night:

Or if this has been discussed before could someone give me the relevant link.

Many thanks.

If children all in one apartment why would others leave the table to go do checks?  staff at tapas say they did on various nights see some of them leave the table.
Who left table on these nights, the mothers or the fathers?  And if children in one room, what were the fathers who left the table going to check if someone already with children?
If children all in one room/apartment under supervision then no abductor came in and took one of them.  That what the PJ were getting at?

Always great to read L-azzeri's take on things.

So nobody was ill on the Monday night then??

Could it be the Monday that MBM met her demise then??

Couple more days / eve's back in routine then the Thursday is 'Abduction day'.

We recently discussed this elsewhere - no idea where - but a very sore point and immediately denied by Clarrie who slipped up and said that it would be much harder to get 7 children to sleep. With Maddie it would have been 8.

Payne's apartment was also used for lunch - everyone except the McCanns. Seems likely that all the children snoozed a bit before afternoon creche imo.

Then it seems Diane Webster slept on the sofa - why?

Then we have GM being very  keen to tell us the twins did not sleep in a bed, ever. Mothers here are of the opinion that Sean was far too big for a cot.
Then there is Kate giving a reason for the rumpled bed on Thursday night.
All seems very sensitive to me.

Btw hope I was right on the nr. Paynes 2, ROB 2, MO 1, Mcc 3.

Good topic here too: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Another quick question. Again apologies if this has been discussed before. I'm sure it probably has numerous times.

If ALL the children were being looked after by 1 tapas member then how do we explain Mrs Fenn's statement about the crying episode on the 1st of May???

MBM playing up, being disruptive so put back into 5A to be on her own??

MBM deliberately left on her own in 5A for more sinister purposes??
