Libel v Criminal

The McCanns seem to think that the Portuguese police botched up the investigation so why are they not suing them as they have access to millions of pounds,
Why are they going after people who are easier to silence like Mr Amaral, Mr Bennett,
Why are the McCanns more concerned with libel than the criminal aspects of this case?

Bad-mouthing the McCanns

Good question HomeAlone (I hope you aren't really!). It's got to be easier to persecute the "little guy" rather than a big organisation and, as for why the McCanns are so interesting in protecting their "good name" (don't laugh everybody), I reckon it's just another way to guarantee a nest egg (via a payout in damages) for now and the future.

I think there was talk of suing the Portuguese police at what time, but it seems it never happened.

Kate and Gerry McCann could sue the Portuguese police for failure to find their daughter, it was claimed yesterday.
The couple could sue for an estimated £1million if the investigation is closed, it was reported.
Their spokesman Clarence Mitchell said it was something the couple's legal team might consider in the future.

That's my point. They are more interested in libel than sorting out the criminal side of this case.
If they were seen to be sorting out the criminal side of this case FIRST AND FOREMOST then I'm sure more people would side with them. If they were innocent then the libel side of things could be dealt with AFTER they've found their daughter. The criminal side of this case should take PRECEDENCE over libel proceedings. Madeleine cannot afford to keep waiting and waiting and waiting in her prison lair in the lawless hills of Praia de Luz while they chase libel payouts.
