Trucker's arrest gives Kate and Gerry McCann new hope

MADELEINE McCann's parents have been given fresh hope after the prosecution of a Portuguese lorry driver for kidnapping a boy 13 years ago.
Rui Pedro Mendonca vanished in March 1998 aged 11 from his home town of Lousada.
His parents have now been told local Afonso Dias, 34, has been charged with their son's kidnap and will stand trial.
Rui Pedro's mum, Filomena, has sent several messages of support to the McCanns.
Portugal's Judicial Police - criticised over the flawed Maddie investigation - were also accused of mishandling the Rui Pedro probe.
The boy's dad, Manuel Mendonca, said: "The Judicial Police only appeared the day after he vanished.
"The National Republican Guard questioned the suspect but let him go because they couldn't hold him any longer.
"No one believed my son could have been kidnapped.
"Our priority at the moment is knowing what happened to him. We're praying he reappears alive and hoping then that justice is done.
"It could just be that the trial awakens something in Dias and he finally tells us what happened."
Family lawyer Ricardo Sa Fernandes added: "Only after ruling out all the theories relating to international paedophile rings and concluding that Rui Pedro hadn't been taken out of the country did the police concentrate on piecing together the 24 hours that preceded his disappearance."

Not quite the same as a 3 year old, but no doubt, the McCann's will try to use this news to their advantage in some way.

Seeing as this was a Portuguese boy, they cannont use the 'British children being targeted' nonsense.

How many times over the past four years have the McCann's been given fresh hope from the kidnapping of other children? Have they actually voiced their concerns about these children or do they just tell the newspapers about their fresh hope?

Any proven cases which involve the abduction of children by strangers are good news for the McCanns as it reinforces the official story that this is what happened to their daughter too.

I remember back in 2007 when most press reports started with "Another blow for the McCanns" now we have "fresh hope for the McCanns".

Investigative journalism is dead, just like everything else that the pink one gets involved in

Although this case does suggest paedophilia lets look at the scientific facts behind male paedophilia:
Heterosexual male paedophiles target girls between the age of 7.6 and 9.2 years.
Homosexual male paedophiles target boys between the age of 9.8 and 13.2 years.
Bisexual male paedophiles target both sexes between the age of 7.6 and 14.6 years.

I see no connection between the two cases, perhaps if someone who reads this does see a connection then please point me there.

while this is slightly off topic iro the mccanns, please understand that women also sexually molest children. my daughter aged 8 was molested by a woman of about 50 years who was employed by us as a child minder. mothers tend to think the danger lies with men but they should be ever wary even of women. this happened in the home which is true of most statistics.

Just as the news that the dogs had alerted for the scent of death did not send them into paroxysms of grief, nor the various 'sightings' round Europe send them to any of the places. In the one case they simply dismissed the idea that dogs can find anything, and in the other Gerry simply smirks with that all too familiar sneer when asked about it during the interview.
