Robert Nisbet, US correspondentMum 'Murdered Daughter With Sticky Tape' The case of a young mother accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter and then covering up the crime has taken a dramatic turn in a Florida courtroom.

In a trial which has garnered national attention, Casey Anthony's defence lawyer said little Caylee had not been murdered but died accidentally by drowning in a swimming pool.
Attorney Jose Baez said Casey was an 'excellent mother' who had been sexually abused by her father.
The disappearance of Caylee Anthony and the subsequent search attracted nationwide media coverage and drew comparisons with the Madeleine McCann case.
After she vanished in June 2008, her grandparents appeared almost daily on national television appealing for the girl's safe return, as hundreds of people combed land around the child's Orlando home.

But soon it emerged Casey Anthony had been shopping and partying after her daughter's disappearance and that cadaver dogs had detected the smell of decomposition in her car.
Caylee's remains were found in woodlands on the outskirts of Orlando by a meter reader in December 2008.
Casey Anthony was arrested and charged with the girl's murder. Prosecutors are calling for the death sentence.
In her opening statement, prosecutor Linda Drane Burdick said the little girl died after three pieces of adhesive tape were placed over her mouth and nose, although an autopsy was unable to determine the exact cause of death.
She told the jury that Casey took over a month to tell her own parents that their grandchild was missing, and that a computer at her home showed internet searches for chloroform, neck-breaking and alcohol.
The case continues.

An other excellent resposible parent who doped her child and left her in the car to go partying.

God, what has the world turned too. Life is not about doing the right thing anymore, it's all about who can make the smartest linguistic wordplay, blaming others and making money.

My alte husband was a lawyer who in his younger years had to do a pro bono case of a guy raping and killing an eight year old. There were some "technical" imperfections and he knew he could get the guy off. At least he had the honor to quit his job and said he rather go financially broke than morally.

Now they pride themselves to get these monsters off and protect them every step of the way.

I am feeling sick.

It must be beyond awful for people like lawyers and police and anyone involved in cases like the one you mention to cope with the details they discover when they involve people who are not human who inflicted pure evil on the innocent in this case a child

Thank you, Rose. Yes, if you had to do that everyday I would go nuts I think. I know everyone has the right on good legal represnetation, but for me there are crimes that make you loose any "normal" rights.
This Anthony family is as sick as can be. To think that dad used to be with the police and the mom was/is working as a registered nurse, makes you wonder. Financially almost as bankrupt as their morale state., they too have been able to fence off any threat of bankruptcy, home foreclosure and seem, with all those extra costs and barely any income, now to be living the highlife. Crime pays very well. Being associated to any crime case too. Lawyers are groveling to get a case like this, so are all "experts" and you could see the Baden family fighting with Henri Lee for some snippets.
