Madeleine McCann family's friend slams ex-detective over 'spiteful' search remark

A family friend of the McCanns has slammed an ex-detective over his 'spiteful' remark about the search for missing Madeleine.
Retired vice squad officer John Coxon demanded an end to efforts to find the missing girl.
And he said Scotland Yard’s £12million probe Operation Grange is a “disgraceful waste of resources,” reports the Daily Star.
A source close to the couple has slammed Mr Coxon and fumed: “The opinion of a retired officer who has not even worked on the case is quite frankly ludicrous.
“It is insensitive and spiteful towards Madeleine’s family and the detectives who are trying their utmost to find out what happened.”
Madeleine vanished from her family’s Portuguese holiday apartment in 2007 when she was just three years old.
Mr Coxon has called on the Independent Office Of Police Conduct to shut down the inquiry, branding it “the biggest scandal in the history of the Met”.
But the body has confirmed it will not investigate his gripe. They say his complaint is invalid in law because he has not been personally affected by the case.
Mr Coxon has not responded to requests for comment on the decision not to pursue his complaint.
Tonight, doctor parents Kate and Gerry, who believe their daughter was abducted and continue to hope she may still be alive, thanked police for continuing their hunt for Madeleine.
A spokesman for the McCanns said tonight: “Kate and Gerry have been advised not to talk about the inquiry while it is still ongoing and they remain extremely grateful to the Met Police.”

Jon Coxon is an admin on one of the facebook groups and I reckon the McCann family friend is probably Pam Gurney who goes running to the press over hurty words - and they print it for her!

Biggest scam the amount of money spent on this case is ridiculous and the public are fed up what exactly is the investigation doing still looking for an abductor no doubt even after the dogs alerted to both cadaver and blood in the apartment. They need to investigate the parents and their holiday friends and do a reconstruction .

And he adds: "In reality, when the McCanns went to Oprah's Show, the blanket was mentioned. At a given moment, when Oprah tells Kate that she heard her mention a blanket several times, Kate argued that a mother who misses a child always wants to know if she is comfortable, if she is warm, and added, referring to Maddie, that sometimes she asked herself if the person who had taken her would cover her up with her little blanket (but the blanket was on the bed after Maddie, supposedly, disappeared!!!).

It wouldn't and shouldn't stop them calling out to their daughter or abductor to release her or to the public to continue searching for her>
innocent people have no reason not to discuss the case, guilty people do.~As Plebgate says it hasn't stopped them with their mockumentary or book, interviews both written and televised or the meet and greets.
The trouble has been getting them to shut up about themselves and to talk about their allegedly missing and alive daughter

Operation Grange was set up in May 2011, it didn't stop the McCanns from releasing their novel in May 2012 and serialising it in The Sun.
I wonder if the official case in Portugal is open, now that may be a reason for their silence.
Or, are they just afraid of putting their foot in it like they do every time they speak?

Perhaps it's time to change tack and start scrutinizing Operation Grange. The wonderful researchers on CMOMM would soon make sense of it. Then, maybe we would find out what happened to Madeleine.

Haven't a clue who Jon Coxon is but we do have a JONathan D Coxon possibly related to Amanda J Coxon ( Remember THAT name ? ) At least they both share an unusual mother's maiden name and were born within four years of each other.

insensitive and spteful claims

I thought we lived in a democracy where free speech is allowed. Everytime someone has a concern about the Mccann case it is always counted with personal remarks about insensitivity etc... from a friend or relative of the Mccanns. Its like questioning some of the religous cults that exist today. All of a sudden everything is turned onto the person asking questions as though its personal. This is always a sign of defensiveness and a great way to deflect away from fair concerns that are viewed as criticism. All those missing and lost children in the world could have used a slice of the never ending funds poured into the Mccan case. A Constable's salary is now £40,128 . (Met. top rate). A DCI is £61,509
Fo DCI and 4 DCs is already £222,000

The floating £750,000 they've stashed away for a rainy day would be a good starting point.
It's wissing down as I speak!

This really is a load of old baloney.
The investigation might be stymied but the question .... where has all this money gone? needs to be answered. Frankly, I'm astonished donators haven't tried to get answers, it is after all their money!
