A DOCUMENTARY about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann which boasts new interviews with key investigators is to be screened this month.

Streaming service Netflix said it will be a huge global success as the 12th anniversary of her disappearance nears, but Madeleine's parents Kate and Gerry refused requests from producers Pulse Films to take part. Their holiday friends and spokesman Clarence Mitchell have also snubbed the venture, saying: "We want nothing to do with it."

Madeleine, three, vanished from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in May 2007 while her parents were dining with friends nearby.

Top cardiologist Mr McCann and his ex-GP wife, both 50, from Rothley, Leicestershire, still hope Madeleine will be found alive.

It is not yet known if the documentary, which is reported to have cost up to £20million, will be a one-off, a two-parter or, as originally intended, an eight-part series.

A source close to the film-makers said yesterday: "Everyone everywhere is fascinated by the Maddie story."

And an insider at Pulse Films said: "Netflix are hoping it will be a massive hit."

NETFLIX has made a new documentary about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

We have the lowdown on this new show and why the missing girl's parents have refused to take part in the doc.

When is the Madeleine McCann Netflix documentary released?
The documentaryis due to be screened in April 2019, but an exact date is yet to be revealed.
It will examine the case of the missing three-year-oldand interviews key figures and investigators.
Netflix had been hoping it would be ready to screen in 2018 but the project reportedly took longer than expected.
It's also thought producers had wanted to create an eight-part series but it may now be a one or two parter.

Why did Madeleine's parents refuse to be involved?
Maddie's parents Kate and Gerryrefused to take part, despite numerous requests from producers over the last 18 months.
The couple's pals, who were on that fateful holiday with them when Maddiewent missing, and their former spokesperson Clarence Mitchell blasted the film, which is reported to have cost £20million, saying: "We want nothing to do with it."
In 2018 The Sun reported that the McCanns have declined to be involved because the Metropolitan Police's investigation is still active.

Netflix are hoping the documentary will be massive hit like its other successful true crime dramas including Making A Murderer and Abducted in Plain Sight.
The search for the toddler became the most high-profile missing person investigation in history.

I signed up with Netflix against my better judgement (try cancelling the subscription before they bill you - at your peril), when I delved further into the documentary it said something to the effect that information was no longer available.

A. Tracey missed out first time round on 2^ndMarch. Gemma Mullin managed to do a cut’n’paste of Tracey's Mail article before she could get round to it.

MADELEINE McCann's parents have slammed a new Netflix movie about their daughter’s kidnap fearing it could hinder the painstaking police search for her.
Kate and Gerry told today how they had been asked to take part in the documentary but "want nothing to do with it".
Oscar-winning Netflix boasts the documentary has “riveting” new interviews with key investigators as the 12th anniversary of Maddie's disappearance approaches.
The streaming giant is set to release more details and the launch date of the movie “The Disappearance of Madeleine McCann” in the coming weeks.
Heart doctor Gerry, 50, and former GP Kate — who celebrated her 51st birthday yesterday — hit out in a statement released by spokesperson Clarence Mitchell.
It read: “The production company told us that they were making the documentary and asked us to participate.
“But they want 'nothing to do with it.”

'WE WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH IT'

The couple from Rothley, Leics, added: “We did not see and still do not see how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, could potentially hinder it.
“Consequently, our views and preferences are not reflected in the programme.
“We will not be making any further statements or giving interviews regarding this programme.”
The McCann's “Tapas Seven” holiday pals and their spokesperson have also snubbed the venture.
Netflix is already predicting the documentary, due out this month, will be a huge global success.
Madeleine's parents had received numerous requests from producers Pulse Films over the past 18 months.
A source close to the movie makers said: “Everyone everywhere is fascinated by the Maddie story.
“We would have welcomed the opportunity of working with the McCanns directly but they informed us they couldn’t and wouldn’t consider taking part while a police investigation is into their daughter’s abduction is ongoing.
“But we have interesting new interviews with people close to the inquiry and we believe we can give justice to this unbelievably tragic story.”
The filmmakers scooped three awards at last month’s Oscars for Roma, which follows the life of a live-in housekeeper of a middle-class family in Mexico City.

ENDURING MYSTERY

Three-year-old Maddie vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007 while her parents were dining with pals in a nearby tapas restaurant.
She had been left sleeping alone with her younger twin siblings Sean and Amelie with regular half hourly checks being made on the children.
Her parents cling onto a glimmer of hope their eldest child could still be found alive.
She would now be aged 15, nearly 16.
It is not yet known if the documentary, which has cost up to a reported £20 million, will be a one off, a two parter or as originally intended an eight part series.

'A MASSIVE HIT FOR NETFLIX'

An insider at Pulse Films said: “Netflix are hoping it will be a massive hit.”
It is not known if retired Portuguese detective Goncalo Amaral has agreed to take part.
In his best seller book “The Truth of the Lie” he accuses Maddie’s parents — who were once suspects in their daughter’s disappearance — of faking her kidnap after she accidentally died in the holiday flat.
The McCann pal: “The family understand Mr Amaral and Portuguese police officers have been approached.
“Their lawyers will be keeping watch for any potentially libellous material.”
The search for Maddie — who was just nine days away from her fourth birthday — has became the most high-profile missing person investigation in history.
The youngster’s face in iconic pictures is recognisable around the world.
Netflix has had a string of successful true crime documentaries including hit documentary Making A Murderer on wrongly jailed American student Amanda Knox for British student Meredith Kercher’s murder.

Hi Willow. As long as the McCanns were in control they didn't care. It maybe that the McCanns fear the netflix programme may divulge or discuss an aspect they would prefer avoided or else it is faux displeasure just for effect.

Or the McCanns have had a lot to do with this documentary but past experience warns them of the risks of saying anything in public. They want to sell their Maddie was abducted whilst we ate at the Tapas story but they know that their statements would be checked, analysed and questioned. How could they sell the story without incriminating themselves even more than they already have? The answer is to convince us that they have nothing to do with this documentary.

They also wouldn't want us to know if they were profiting from this project.

And lets be honest, if Madeleine was really missing and there was an active investigation ongoing to find her, the McCanns and the police could pull the plug on this film.

The parents are certain (officially) that she was abducted and still alive and started a media circus that world never seen before but they are not interested to find her when there's something out of their agenda.
Where are they searching for her?
Where have they search?
Who have they hired to search for last ~10 years for money they brought in?
Quite revealing imo.

İt clearly states I the papers that the McCanns Lawyers will be watching the Netflix waiting for any liberal material . So basically Netflix has wasted 20 million to literally be careful in what comes up against the McCanns.
I was hoping through a breakthrough like other Netflix true crime cases but now I feel deflated about it.

The McCann's 'source' aka Clarence Mitchell Esquire, issues these threats at every given opportunity - I think his words were (not wordsworth) 'the gloves are off' skull

The drama/documentary has now been removed from the schedule, I have my doubts that it was ever in the production stage. Has anybody across the airways ever said they have been approached - like Colin Sutton, Mark Williams-Thomas, Sonia Poulton or the font of all knowledge across the pond, Isabel McFadden? I don't think so! Remember the 'Untold Story' that was never told?

It seems rather a coincidence that this is all happening at the time of the next stay of execution for Operation Grange think

To be accurate, what she 'told' us had in fact already been told numerous times by others so we actually have not yet been told anything of the untold story, which remains untold.

Except that in her short documentary she managed to dredge up and put in her film ELEVEN different negative quotes about Goncalo Amaral.

Oh, and allowed Colin Sutton to state that the McCanns should be investigated so as to 'finally clear them once and for all'.

I am also very doubtful that this Netflix documentary will actually happen. There has been total silence about it for some two years and it seems amazing there has been no leak about it from anyone during that time. No leak from anyone on the production team. No leak from any of those being interviewed.

There is a problem for anyone now seeking to tell this story.

To point the finger at the McCanns risks a libel suit. That's why I doubt Mark Saunokonoko can do so, indeed the 9 NEWS disclaimer makes it clear that his podcasts aren't going to go there.

There would also be the need for any film or documentary to say something different from what has been said in the past 12 years.

On the 10th anniversary, I seem to remember some people doing just that.

Rent-a-quote Mark Williams-Thomas came on the TV sofa and said he genuinely believed she had just wandered off (which is how Operation Grange may well end this farce).

Some other goon said he thought the abductor had dropped her body down a well (Operation Grange might try that instead. Or even as well).

Colin Sutton chimed in, years too late, with 'stolen by gypsies and taken to North Africa'.

What dramatic evidence could there be...

...except a confession from one of those who REALLY know what REALLY happened to Madeleine McCann?
