The first paragraph of their message is unnecessary.

It would have been more effective and meaningful if it had begun with a reference to their daughter.

What a tragedy for Madeleine that as we're approaching 12 years since her disappearance, the circus continues.

Isn't this the 3rd or 4th time that an expected appeal has not seen the light of day? Didn't it start on Madeleine's Birthday when they chose not to make an appeal because Brian Healy was ill?

Again no concern for Maddie, no calling out to her.
She is an afterthought after they have waffled on about how they are feeling and doing and then remembering that they have to stick Maddie's name in there somewhere.

more tiresome drivel.
They have long given up the charade of being interested in finding their daughter, supposedly living.
They have closed the shop and their website is barely updated , along with their FB page.
I suspect they would rather the public forgot about Maddie and instead concentrated on her parents and how they are doing.
How well gerry is doing at uni as a lecturer and kate working in medicine but not tell us doing what as it is a massive drop in status and earnings and is probably working in the back with no contact with patients or the public otherwise we would know by now where she is and what she is doing.
She doesn't tell us what branch of medicine or what she is doing so it could be reading slides, cleaning or being a secretary for someone, possibly gerry since they would need the money.

All those years spent training to be a GP, decades of good income, sterling reputation, professional status and all that entails, all down the pan.

No doubt all blaming Maddie for the situatiuon she found herself in and blaming Maddie for the situation the mccanns find themselves in, especially with all their big name supporters who rapidly disappeared over the horizen at a fast rate of knots when their own discreet searches revealed the truth of their involvement and non clearance by the PJ.

As someone who doesn't understand the honours list and its acronyms it be good to note which particular honours Kate and the life-saving Gerry have failed to achieve.

There was no tap on the shoulder with a sword and no arise Sir Gerry.

Good quality wristbands.....I am surprised there wasn't a marketing appeal to raise funds for the search encouraging chav tattoos to British holidaymakers. Instead, there was Fiona Phillips on mainstream telly speaking of electronically tagging your kids on a beach holiday.

The rules seem to be
1 . If you are a disgusting pervert, you get a Knighthood. Sir Cyril Smith, Sir Clement Freud, Sir Jimmy Savile fall into this category. There are many others
2. If you are a financial crook, but operate in multi-millions, you get a Knighthood. Sir Fred Godwin, Sir James Crosby and Sir Philip Green fall into this category. There are many others.
3. If you are a top level sports person with questions about whether you took drugs, you get a Knighthood. Sir Bradley Wiggins and Sir Mo Farah fall into this category.
4. If you win Gold at 5 successive Olympics, do 20 years of Charity work, and act as a role model for young people, you get a Knighthood. Sir Steven Redgrave falls into this category
5. If you win Gold at only 4 consecutive Olympics, with Sir Steven Redgrave, but also went to Eton and Oxford, and can trace your ancestry to William the Conqueror through the 2nd Duke of Norfolk, you get a Knighthood. Sir Matthew Pinsent falls into this category
6. If you win TWO Gold medals at just one Olympics, you are immediately made a Dame (if you are a woman and black)

7. If you risk your own life and save the lives of more than a dozen children trapped in a cave system on the far side of the world, you get an MBE. (The second lowest possible honour)

Thankfully, Alison Saunders, former head of the CPS, didn't receive a gong. According to the Mail, this is the first time the outgoing head has failed to receive a knighthood/damehood.
