Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
Madeleine McCann cops handed extra cash on top of £12M investigation to trace ‘critical witness’ missing from Portugal
Cops want to trace a woman they believe is from Eastern Europe and may hold key clues to the investigation.
MADELEINE McCann cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal.
They think the person, believed to be East European, may hold key clues.
Sources say she lived near the holiday flat in Praia da Luz on the Algarve from which Madeleine, then aged three, vanished in May 2007 but left the country after her husband’s death.
Scotland Yard’s £12million Operation Grange hunt for Madeleine was kept open with an extra £154,000 to trace the woman.
A source said: “She may have seen or heard something which to her may seem insignificant but to us could prove vital. If she recognises herself she should contact police. She has nothing to fear. This is just to eliminate her from enquiries."
A source close to Operation Grange, launched in 2011, described the woman as a “critical line of inquiry’’.
Police still believe it possible Madeleine was taken during a burglary “gone wrong”.
Parents Kate and Gerry, both 49, of Rothley, Leics, were dining nearby.

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
How can this woman be considered a " critical witness " " a critical line of enquiry " when they only think she may have see or heard something ?
If she left Portugal after her husband died how does that class her as " missing " ?
So we now have " a source close to Operation Grange " instead of " a source close to the family "
I have " a source close to the bottom of the barrel " who says someone has been seen scraping it !
Was this woman known to wear purple ?

Ref;cops get more money to look for a major witness
So now A/C Mark Rowley is looking for a Widow who left Portugal not knowing that she could hold vital clues to the disappearance of Madeleine McCann,so Area Commander is now in contact with the Portugal authorities checking on dead husbands, from May 2007,yer know who could have been the Paedophiles, geddit, unbeknown all along to the widow, top flight UK Police Work.eat your heart out Sherlock Holmes?
AC Mark Rowley to East European widow, sorry to ask,but how well did you know your Husband whilst living with him in Portugal, did he behave suspiciously at any time in May 2007 or to be more precise,Thursday 3 May 2007,think carefully,as we are investigating a disappearance of a three year old girl, who vanished from her apartment with no trace, yet a man with swarthy looks was thought to have been seen carrying a young girl in his arms, close by to the Ocean Club apartments,do you have any children?
Now for give me,but if your a Woman from Eastern Europe, who has been widowed and you left Portugal after your husband had died, why would you need to be eliminated from anything, when your not a suspect, but your now dead husband could be a suspect, geddit,It was him that done it?
Very similar to a"Dead Tractor driver in Greece"?
when DCI andy Redwood investigated in Operation grange, have a guess whose name was close to the top of the list (EM) who lived 15 minutes away from the Apartment in Lagos,tri-angulation of phones, guilty, but wait how is this so,when Operation grange were looking for a"White man of Medium build" Five Foot Eight toTen inches in height, not a cape veradian person of Six foot Two in Height slim build?
Officers newly qualified from Hendon, need not apply for any positions on Operation Grange,as all positions currently occupied with above level intelligence criteria from the Metropolitan Police Service?

What an embarrassment.... 6 years of "critical" lines of enquiry, at least now Operation Grange has a "source" eh?
Seeking dead man walking....others need not apply!

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
I still don't get how overall operation grange serves the purpose of helping exonerate the parents (even though it's clearly designed to). If after millions of pounds and more than ten years, Operation Grange has questioned literally everyone who was in Praia da Luz that night and come up with nothing, whilst still having never questioned the parents or their friends, what does that look like? Surely even to the most simple minded buffoon it looks an awful lot like the parents were responsible all along, and the reason no one saw anything is because the events as described by the McCanns are not what happened. Is this the biggest backfire in the history of cover ups or what?

Do they know her name?
Surely they do?
Why not publish it and ask people if they know where said name is?

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
Here are a few snippets from the Daily Mail ( ) article, with all the comments by person or persons “close” to the McCanns, being removed, and my comments in capitals:
Headline:
Madeleine McCann investigators hunt Eastern European woman they believe is critical witness as they are given extra cash on top of their £12m budget to trace her.
“And despite trawling through thousands of tip-offs and potential sightings, police have not confirmed that a single one was her”.
WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT?
It is understood police chiefs have a working theory on what happened to Madeleine but may be unable to reveal it publicly because it implicates an individual or individuals.
WELL, AFTER £12 MILLION POUNDS SPENT OVER THE PAST 6 YEARS, IT’S NICE TO KNOW THAT THEY HAVE A “WORKING THEORY”
The Sunday Times understands Met detectives have been relying on Portuguese transcripts of key interviews with British witnesses, rather than conducting their own.
“RELYING ON THE PORTUGUESE TRANSCRIPTS” AND WE ALL KNOW WHERE THEY LEAD, DON’T WE?
Scotland Yard has insisted it will not reduce the small team left on the case any further as the 'inquiry has not reached a conclusion'.
SO, BE PREPARED FOR MORE HANDOUTS NEXT MARCH.

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
"If she recognises herself she should contact police. She has nothing to fear. This is just to eliminate her from enquiries."
How is she expected to 'recognise' herself? Do all Eastern European widows read British gutter press?
If there is any veracity to this nonsense (which I doubt as it defies all logic, and just in April the person they were 'looking for' was a recycled old story about Tapas worker Ze Joao), I just hope it has more basis than the 4 arguidos named just for being in phone contact just before 22:00.
I say this because I myself found 4 calls (in the local area traffic logged in the files) involving a lady with a Russian name starting at 22:08. If her initials are G.K. then shame on whoever optioned this article.
There are bars in most directions from 5a, will we be hearing reports that 'enquiries are appealing for bar patron xyz who left the resort after his/her holiday came to an end to come forward' next?
ETA - Doing a little topical research 'G.K.' who I mentioned above is still in Luz, running an establishment that now literally has her name in the restaurant title, so now I'd doubly hope it's not her...

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
So after years of this investigation and £13 million spent this is the last roll of the dice/clue that has been put forward to enable another six month extension to this search for Maddie?
another SIX MONTHS to search for a woman who may not recognise that she could have vital information in the hunt for a missing child. Well if she hasn't recognised herself by now I imagine that without being given some CLUES via the media, she certainly aint going to now.
April28th said there are bars in most directions from 5a, aw well that explains why we have heard too many unbelievable accounts from so many SAUCES maybe?
INCREDIBLE ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.
An Eastern European woman possibly wearing purple (maybe). Some clue that is for sure. DUH.

Does anyone have any idea what these so called ‘journalists’ get paid for re-hashing all of this tripe?
Just had a look at Stewart Paterson who has copied the above and he has four stories up today under his byline for the Mail on-line:
Prisoners show off the Pizza Hut and Chicken Cottage takeaways they enjoyed alongside booze and drugs at karaoke night behind bars

Madeleine McCann investigators hunt Eastern European woman they believe is critical witness as they are given extra cash on top of their £12m budget to trace her

……………………………………..
The Pizza Hut and Vaz stories are re-hashed directly from and attributed to the Mirror, the Maddie story, The Sun and only the Natural History Museum crash is an actual bit of ‘Mail’ writing and this has SEVEN people listed for a three thousand word article.
The photos all have their own attributions, so we can’t even knock off a couple of the seven as photographers, so these hard working journalists, averaged out, have managed to come up with about 450 original words each!

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
Another story without any actual information from Op Grange or official statement.
How do people not notice this crappy 'source' stuff is a sham?
The only official comment seems to be this,
"Operation Grange funding
There is widespread coverage in the Times, Mail, Express, Sun, Mirror, Star and i that the Metropolitan Police will continue to search for Madeleine McCann after their request for an extra £154,000 to fund Operation Grange was granted by the Home Office. The papers note the same number of officers will be involved.
A Home Office quote can be found below.

Don't the Met get fed up of people feeding the media crap to spin how Op Grange is going? Obviously not or they would just deny it. It just helps with the public calling for an end to the 'waste of money'. Problem, reaction, solution.Following an application from the Metropolitan Police, the Home Office has confirmed funding for Operation Grange until the end of March 2018.
As with all applications, the resources required are reviewed regularly and careful consideration is given before any funding is allocated.''

Re: Cops got more money to trace a “critical witness” woman missing from Portugal
How the hell could someone not have known they were a witness at the time. The whole of the Algarve were out looking (apart from the parents), there was a heavy police presence in the area asking questions, there were posters plastered on every surface, it was being talked about in every bar, cafe, shop and taxi, every TV and radio station ran the story and there have been ongoing investigations and media coverage for the past 10 years. Anyone who saw a child being carried, dragged, crying or blond was informing the police
