Apologies - I thought it was a new article - I was on Yahoo uk and it came up on the list of news items. Therefore I thought was today-then looking at it, it showed September 2007.

How strange that it came up

Just tried again - went into Yahoo UK and this article came up! Does someone wish to promote it?

It certainly does look like someone is promoting this story HelenMeg.  Why it has resurfaced now is anyone's guess but it does mention quite a few things which the general public would have either forgotten about or were too young to follow the case, but with it being on Yahoo news more people will read it and catch up.
I particularly like the bit which states 17,000 people have signed an internet petition demanding Social Services investigation.  Lots more people are just going to search 'McCann internet petition' or similar.  Let's hope any searches bring up the gofundme page.

This is a very easy mistake to make and I blame Google or whoever is manipulating search results returned by Google.  If you search "Madeleine McCann" in google and specify "last 24 hours", meaning you only want to see things that have been put online in the last day, invariably you will see a whole page of mainstream articles that were first posted years ago.  This in my view is a form of soft censorship.  Not sure how the mainstream publications get away with this or make it happen but it is clearly wrong and is preventing the truth from reaching more people.

I'm a techno dinosaur but don't some of the automatic things that pop up when you do a search link to things you're interested in/have accessed in the past? For instance, I listen to music on Youtube and after listening to a track it seems to automatically bring up things I've listened to in the past which are unrelated to the artist I've asked for.

Even on this forum, at the bottom there is related stuff suggested (which isn't always related).

I checked out Yahoo search engine yesterday after Helen Meg's interesting post and got the same article but I'd already clicked on her link.

I saw it as well Helen M and thought it was a new article.   Like you I wondered why this was trending as a news item.

I couldn't recall having seen the article before so found it very interesting.
