Milestone: Kate says ‘it hurts we won’t be doing it’
Kate McCann has told of her sorrow that missing Madeleine is not home to start “big school” next week.
Her eldest daughter would have turned 11 in May and been due to move up to secondary school on Thursday.
Kate told a close pal: “Madeleine should be here and I should be helping her prepare for big school like all her friends.
“It’s such a big step and she would have been so excited. It hurts so much that we won’t be doing it.”
The former GP, who gave up work to be a full-time mum, said to her friend: “We never thought she would be missing for this long.
"She was always such a bright, inquisitive little girl at nursery school but sadly we never got to see her develop at primary school.
“And now she should be going off to big school...it’s so tough not knowing where she is and sometimes our hope feels so far away."

Hurts: Madeleine has been missing for seven years
But Kate, 46, and heart doctor husband Gerry, 45, of Rothley, Leics, refuse to give up hope of ever finding their daughter alive.
She was aged three, just nine days short of her fourth birthday, when she vanished from a holiday apartment in Portugal’s Praia da Luz in May 2007.
During a BBC TV interview three months ago to mark the latest anniversary of her disappearance Kate told how she was already thinking of Maddie’s educational transition.
She said: “It’s such a long time. She’s that bit older now. You think 11 - she’s due to start big school at the end of August, beginning of September.
"She is still part of our lives and we’re never going to give up on her or forget her and we’ll do whatever we can to find her.”
Kate’s pal added: “It’s not surprisingly she feels upset. There’s such a buzz around that now summer’s over some of the local kids are going up to secondary school.
"Kate’s great uncle Brian Kennedy from Rothley, who was a former head teacher, and her great aunt Janet, an ex teacher, would have been so interested too in Madeleine’s progress.”
The primary school in Thurmaston, Leics, which had been holding a place for Maddie for seven years, told of its regret they were never able to welcome her.
As British Police continue their search for the youngster and are poised to quiz more suspects, Kate and Gerry still patiently wait and pray for a significant breakthrough in their investigation.

Last chance: Scotland Yard detectives are returning to Portugal
As the couple’s friends and neighbours prepare for the secondary school transfer for their sons and daughters, they look forward to the new school year for their nine-year-old twins Sean and Amelie.
They attend Bishops Ellis Primary in Thurcaston, Leics, where Maddie should have first been a pupil in August 2007 and which has pledged to continue raising funds for her.
It states on its website: “We are sorry that we have not been able to welcome Madeleine to our school.
"Our thoughts and prayers remain very much with the McCanns as we continue to pray with them for Madeleine.”
PA
Angelic: Lost Maddie's image has haunted nation
A online link directs users to Maddie’s “Don’t give up on me” posting and the school praises pupils for their recent drama and fitness fund raising efforts to boost the missing girl’s public fund.
Her family have recently kept busy with trips to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and last Saturday to support Maddie’s favourite team Everton against newly promoted Premier League Leicester City at home.
McCann spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “Any anniversary or significant date for Madeleine is a particularly difficult time for Kate and Gerry. But this is a private time for the family and they will not discuss it publicly.”

Re: Kate McCann's torment that Madeleine won't be starting ''big school'' next week
So two mainstream media stories about Madeleine on the same day, with the new book exonerating the McCanns: 'Looking for Madeleine' due out on 11 September, just 19 days away.
REMINDER: Tracey Kandohla lives in Rothley and back in 2008 spoke of how most weeks Clarence Mitchell would call to see her there for 'afternoon tea and biscuits'.
She has been by-lined on dozens if not hundreds of Madeleine stories over the past 7 years

Dr Martin Roberts: "The evidence is that these are the pjyamas Madeleine wore on holiday in Praia da Luz. They were photographed and the photo handed to a press agency, who released it on 8 May, as the search for Madeleine continued. The McCanns held up these same pyjamas at two press conferences on 5 & 7June 2007. How could Madeleine have been abducted?"
Amelie McCann (aged 2): "Maddie's jammies!".

Kate McCann's torment that Madeleine won't be starting ''big school'' next week
----------------------------------------------
Shouldn't that be:
It's Kate and Gerry McCann's FAULT that Madeleine won't be starting 'big school' next week.
THEY and ONLY they diliberately and consciously,'left' their THREE kids, alone, in an unlocked apartment, abroad, out of their sight, every night, to 'dine' with their friends, who ALSO, one must remember, left ALL their kids ALONE in their apartments!
NINE adults at 'dinner'
EIGHT kiddies left ALONE in apartments, out of sight!

Surely they can take some comfort in their previous stated conviction that Maddie would be getting treated like a Princess wherever she is and as such she'll be at the best of schools.
Isn't it interesting that it's always THEIR feelings we hear about? Never any sense of fear about what a supposedly abducted and still alive Maddie might have endured over the years and what she might be thinking and feeling.

And all the children at "Big School" can now start to talk about the missing child, and have a quick look on the internet, and see the Mirror front pages, and begin to talk and work things out . . .
And some will be from Rothley and will have younger siblings the age of Amelie and Seanie, and they in turn will start to ask questions . . .
And always remember Children can be infinitely CRUEL.
Playground chants is just the start of it.

Its always about them, and their feelings. Perhaps after reading this, "the paedo abductors" will return MM soon for high school, after many years of been treated like a princess in a hellish lair.nomendelta wrote:Surely they can take some comfort in their previous stated conviction that Maddie would be getting treated like a Princess wherever she is and as such she'll be at the best of schools.

High school would be my last concern if my daughter was missing. Imo KM comes across as being upset over not being able to identify with her peers, whose children are now entering high school.

Yep.
Bells were ringing.
-------------------------------
“We would look at high-profile people who have already pledged support. It will be some sort of focus around an anniversary, to tell people that Madeleine ’s still missing. I think it would be later this year, once media attention has dropped, to bring it back up, hopefully, for a short period.
“It wouldn’t be a one-year anniversary, it will be sooner than that. What we’re doing at the minute has its role but doing that down the line in a few months won’t have anything like the same impact. We might have a sporting event, something arts, something music
"We’ve had backing from sporting people up to now. We have had backing from certain musical celebrities as well. We’ve got some other musical contacts that we are exploring, who are happy to offer support.
“We’re not saying it would necessarily be one big concert, it might be that on a certain day they are playing her DVD.
-----------------------------------------
Seems pretty sure the search wasn't going to find anything anytime soon.

And of course a paedo** abductor, who wanted a three year old will not be interested in an 11 year old. So perhaps she is now due for release.Snifferdog wrote:

.
Just out of interest, do we know how many other 3 year olds have been abducted since 2007 in the Algarve, or Portugal, or Europe ?
Re: Kate McCann's torment that Madeleine won't be starting ''big school'' next week
Its as though Gerry McCann had a type of "aberration" moment when he forgot he was talking to the media, and not his "enablers".
Such a odd and self condemning statement to make Imo.

Gosh. And to think, a lot of women who have two kids actually go out and work at a full time job and still manage to meet deadlines, get stuff sent out on time, etc.
If I was Kate's boss her annual performance review wouldn't be looking too good right now.

What on earth does the Mirror think it's doing with this nauseating and parasitical article? Can we expect a "Maddie would have been having her first period" in a year or two? And a "we'll never know what GCSE grades our Maddie would have achieved" piece after that? Is there anyone in charge at the Mirror looking objectively at the utter garbage they're printing?

This isn't about any old deadline though is it? This is about the campaign to find Madeleine and the holiday packs, promoted on the website now stating they only cover the cost of the postage are due out at holiday time (no brainer). These holiday packs were promoted on Lorraine Kelly's sofa - bless her she held up a plastic bag at the end of an interview to show the goody bag.canada12 wrote:aquila wrote:On OFM Facebook there's been a delay in sending out holiday packs as Kate does it herself and has been busy with the twins.jowie wrote:So rather than be using funds " looking for Madeleine" they are kept busy visiting the Commonwealth games and watching football !! This isn't the first time the holiday packs haven't gone out on time - it happened a year ago iirc.
Now if the OFM states once again that Kate deals with the orders then there's something bonkers going on imo. It's a pack of posters etc that a trained monkey could despatch. So we go from people who are running a limited company, sit on a board of directors, are ambassadors and goodness knows what else to Kate is the one who deals with the orders and she's been busy.
My flabber is well and truly gasted.

From the article:
Kate’s pal added: “It’s not surprisingly she feels upset. There’s such a buzz around that now summer’s over some of the local kids are going up to secondary school."Kate’s great uncle Brian Kennedy from Rothley, who was a former head teacher, and her great aunt Janet, an ex teacher, would have been so interested too in Madeleine’s progress.”
...but no mention of Auntie Phil who is, I believe, still a teacher.

Re: Kate McCann's torment that Madeleine won't be starting ''big school'' next week
and if Maddie was ever found these are the sort of things she would have read - (taken from Scrolling Banner thread)
.Gerry McCann: "The iris is Madeleine’s only true distinctive feature. Certainly we thought it was possible that this could potentially hurt her or her abductor might do something to her eye.… But in terms of marketing, it was a good ploy.”..
To this day whenever I read those words, a chill runs through my body.
I do wonder whether the investigating team has ever read the scrolling banner thread on this site, that is of course if they ever visit!?
IMO that thread gives very much pause for thought, very much.
SORRY, BUT I JUST HAVE TO SCREAM ABOUT THAT SENTENCE QUOTED ABOUT POOR LITTLE MADDIE'S EYE.
