I think Verdi's offer deserves full backing, I'm sorry Jill is thinking of closing the forum, it really is the best on the web but she has her reasons and they must be respected.

My offer stands to help out financially to keep us up and running.

I'm sorry Tony is not open to discussing with members anything that differs from what he believes, I believe everything needs to be looked at from every angle and picked over untill there is no shadow of doubt.

i would favour it too stay open, but it is still up to jill.

looking at the stats it still has a meaning. and it is only natural that the activity is not what it was, most is already out on the forum, and it still gets high enough on google searches, i look on others their devices, because google get trained by your own search results.

there is little news, most just short term mingling in madeleine her name in junk media. i like it very much jill will take it on to keep it at least there as an kind of database for future uses, but i think the forum still has a sound reason to keep it on. the level of discussion is still way superior than all others.

for me it is even the only place where i do post, i do read from time to time a bit around on others, but it is not cmomm quality.

i would not even have read it in the politics topic, i do not very often get there, our own ones are complicated enough, but i did this morning. i can certainly see jill's side. and 2009 until now is a really long time to even keep a forum up and running as it does, with basically one issue, an important one.

and even when we can call the complete mystery of madeleine mccann one issue, that is most likely not true, this case showed so much angles to look into, and often from very different opinions and life experiences, so jill, thanks for making all that to happen. what you decide is up to you. just thanks, again, for the parts you did until now.

Thank you all for your offers of financial help with the forum, greatly appreciated but not necessary.

CMOMM is not for sale - and there's no way the url should ever be changed...all that would happen is that CMOMM would be lost forever and all links to this forum that have been posted anywhere on the internet, including any contained within this forum, would not work. It would just say page not found, or site not found.

It's a shame I used my name in the url, but when I created the forum it wasn't actually about Madeleine McCann...it was a forum I created to help TB have his right of reply to all the ghastly attacks he was subjected to from people like Debbie Butler after she'd been 'Clarri-fied' after her late night phone call with Clarence Mitchell.

Those attacks carried on for many years, almost causing him to give up on the case.

CMOMM only became a Madeleine forum when the 3As closed and many of us found ourselves without anywhere to carry on our research.

Yet here we are 14 years later, still chewing the fat.

Thank's for your efforts in trying to keep the forum open Verdi.

I've really enjoyed being a member of the forum, it's the first thing I log into in the morning and the last thing I close down at night, I will miss it greatly.

Scotland Yard and the McCann's will be planning their celebration party as I type, balloons

I'll bet more than once the forum has had a very near miss in solving what happened to Madeleine.

There have been signs of late that the forum would close; some subtle posts made me think it was imminent. I will miss it, and the people I've met. As Crusader says, others will celebrate, and a huge injustice will carry on being encouraged without us to push back against it. I understand Jill's position, she has had to deal with other things in her private life. Thanks for trying Verdi.

Like crusader this forum is the first thing I look at every day and has been a big part of my life .
None of us will forget the hard work done by the many contributors , Jill and the wonderful mods and of course Madeleine Beth McCann which is why we are all here .

Look after yourself Jill you have done so much , time for a rest and to concentrate on yourself , you too Verdi it's not been an easy ride lately but thank you for your efforts to keep things going .

cakelover, i will miss you too.

you are a true magician with words, very little people are able to say so much in so little words.

a talent i as you must realize never had.

and jill , i think you gifted us all a place to express our opinions with the most freedom as possible, what you started for tony, became equal to all. you did not just wave a flag, you build a complete ship to put a flag of freedom on.

i do like the idea, that when your ship becomes tied on in a harbour, it still wil be there for all who want to pay a silent visit, can look back to the work loads done, but also still under its same name of jill havern at the stern, and becoming a memory that freedom of expression can be done.

i still am in favor of letting it sail, but i can respect any reason jill has to tie it up in the harbour.

I hereby give notice that CMOMM will close in the New Year and it will become a read-only research resource...with the exceptions of the 'Latest News' section, just in case anything should ever happen with this case in the future that can bring it finally to a close, one way or another. Any remaining members can continue to use that sub-forum to debate the case, should they wish to. The 'Members Lounge' section will also stay open for any remaining members to stay in touch with each other, should they wish to. Private message facility will also remain available.

There will be one last 'Online Christmask Party' for anyone who may be interested.

No new members will be permitted to register.

Should no members wish to stay then the whole forum will close and become read-only.

Members of CMOMM admin thank everyone wholeheartedly for their participation in helping to find the truth about what really happened to Madeleine McCann.

We did our best.

I share all your sentiments. Jill posted the above on another thread last week. I assume this still stands - we can still keep in touch on members lounge thread? I hope so.

Yes, that's ^^^ how I understand the position to be, better than nothing.

Sad times, I always thought we were here for the duration, that's the main reason for so many diverse threads being introduced - something for everyone to keep you good people coming back, with justice for Madeleine McCann always at the fore.

We were the last bastion of hope for keeping her name and memory alive, at least that's how I saw it to be.

Still, all good things come to an end I guess.

At the moment there are 70 sub-forums on CMOMM. Most of them have long been debated and finished with.

I intend to lock most of them and make them read-only. They'll still be there, they won't disappear!

The Latest News section will remain open, as I previously said. That section also contains the Debate Section. If anyone wishes to continue a line of thought from a previous topic all they need to do is start a new thread and debate it in the Debate Section and post a link to the thread they're referring to, rather than posting a comment on, or bumping, an old thread.

As I said, the Members Lounge will also remain open where anyone can continue to chat about topics they already chat about.

I will most likely move some popular threads from other sections to the Members Lounge so you can carry on discussing those.

I don't see what the problem is.

of course we do drama, we got in the idea you just nicked our travels on a well run ship.

but it sounds you just have changed a bit of how we want to travel by choice, that results overhere into a big pfeww, and seeing it all much sunnier than earlier.

or better, to make our own routes by ourselves, and not just dust of the routes done by others. who maybe are not even around or available, to put their points as meant well before, into what they did had meaning in the past.

so all that's up can still be used as study and backbone to all kind of insights, but they can also still function on their own merit. i do like that.

so no ship tied up in the harbour, but only sailing if we deliver the sailors and our own handy work it needs. i can live with that.

but could you put some extra nails in latch, we still need verdi, if you got hit by a broom stick or two, it is much easier to accept when you know who is dealing with it.

pfewww, so we just could gear up and learn to handle a fresh canal, but we did not hit a reef, or ended up on a string of rope in a harbour.

I did some housework this morning, thinking there was going to be a cavernous hole in my life. I'm relieved that I can abandon my new career, and carry on with the forum.
