Philippe Barbarin: French cardinal to face trial for not reporting child abuse

Post by Get'emGonçalo on 20.09.17 16:34

A good start !

A senior French cardinal, Philippe Barbarin, is to be tried on charges of not reporting historical child abuse, according to reports.

The clergyman, who is also the Archbishop of Lyon, was once tipped as a successor to Pope Francis.

But he and six other priests have been ordered to appear in court for allegedly not speaking out against abuse said to be committed by another clergyman, Bernard Preynat, in the 1980s.

No wonder he's got the 'droopy jowl syndrome - known colloquially as 'a face like a fiddle'.

I wouldn't fancy him blessing me bignono .

Hiding behind the frock as they have done for centuries past.  No wonder some people frantically pray when in a sticky wicket - what's good for the goose an' all that.

Someone needs to ask retired Pope Benedict about his cover-ups.

He was in charge of all this nonsense when he was second in command under Pope John Paul II.

Is child abuse systemic in the Catholic Church?

Snipped from the article:

...There is now ample evidence of widespread child abuse going back many decades in the Catholic Church. This constitutes a pattern which can only be produced by structures within the system. When the Archbishop says child abuse is not systemic he may be confusing systemic with “officially sanctioned”. But it would be hard to argue that there is not a culture, not only of child abuse, but of covering it up within the church. It is well understood that cultures are one of the most important determinants of behaviour in any organisation...

Just look at the eyes. Cover one eye with your mouse and see where the other eye is looking. Then do the same with the other eye. Two different places ? I find this very interesting. Same with Kate's eyes, and Gerry's. Both eyes, IMO, seem to be part of two different worlds. Just an observation.

Recently an US cardinal bishop (I would look it up, but every time I see my blood pressure rises to dangerous levels) that he would rather go to jail than report child abuse.
That's your priest for you.
