Police find three children living in 'absolute squalor’ on Christmas Eve

Post by Get'emGonçalo on 01.01.16 16:48

Police have launched a criminal investigation after three young children were discovered living ‘in absolute squalor’ on Christmas Eve.

Social Services called police to a house in south Manchester on December 24 where three young children were living in ‘extremely dirty’ conditions with their parents.

Insp Jon Middleton said the house had no running water, a toilet that would not flush, rubbish overflowing from the bins and no food.

The children have since been taken into care and GMP ’s public protection division have started a criminal investigation.
In an emotional post on the GMP Fallowfield, Withington, Levenshulme and Burnage Facebook page , Insp Middleton wrote: “I think of my daughter who was in a very different environment on Christmas Eve, playing with her family, well fed, bathed and in a spotlessly clean bed by 6pm with a stack of presents under the tree to open in the morning.

This very upsetting story reminds me of a case my daughter had been working on - she's CID/child protection - she was called to a house last Christmas Eve to find a baby strapped into her high chair, who had been there all night, and all she had to 'eat' was the contents of her nappy. Crying

I really don't know how these police officers/social services etc do their job, but thank God they do.
