Yeah, apparently they are looking to identify inconsistencies in the original statements. Well if they haven't spotted them by now, then God help them.
And another amazing coincidence that they have managed to turn up as the libel trial resumes. Again.

Which I just don't understand as could potentially prejudice any outcome to trial couldn't it? Or am I just very naive? I know if I was stood in witness box I'd hope my representatives would highlight this. Would it fly?woodbine wrote:Yeah, apparently they are looking to identify inconsistencies in the original statements. Well if they haven't spotted them by now, then God help them.

IMHO the AR-HALL/SY presence in PTL while the trial is on, just kills the Mecs position (i.e. search was/is hindered)

You're forgetting that the rules of physics, logic and law are different in McCann World.
In my opinion.

If we think that this is to help the McCanns, and I have until now, don't you believe the Portuguese - and particularly the PJ - will have too? Of all the visits, this one would have been the easiest to stall. I'm impressed by the recent post that suggested the real work is progressing behind the scenes - which would explain why SY are apparently making such a dog's dinner of the matter

Transcript
Voice Over - The questioning of eleven new witnesses and the farewell to Andy Redwood, who is getting ready to retire without solving the mystery of the Maddie case, has once again attracted the media attention. The English news teams were almost all reinforced. Throughout the week, eleven witnesses are going to be called to Faro, persons that Scotland Yard has requested Portugal to be questioned. As many as the elements the Metropolitan Police sent to Faro to follow the work carried out by PJ. Seven witnesses are what the British authorities call 'Persons of Interest' a legal status that does not exist in Portuguese legislation but which may signify more arguidos in the offing. In the comings and goings at the Judiciary Police headquarters, in the first morning, there weren't any high profiled witnesses, tomorrow it's expected that Robert Murat enters this doors. The man that was once an arguido in the Portuguese investigation is again in the sights of the English authorities. Even though he was notified in the quality of witness, he will go to Faro accompanied by his lawyer. The former manager of the Ocean Club resort and at least one more former Ocean Club worker are also in the witnesses list.

CMTV News anchor Cátia Gomes Nobre - The British police are once again in Portugal for more witnesses examinations within the scope of the Maddie case, the girl who disappeared in Praia da Luz, in the Algarve in 2007. Eleven people are being questioned as witnesses at the PJ of Faro. It is there that is the journalist Pedro Guerreiro. Good afternoon Pedro, one of those witnesses today "attacked" the CMTV news team?
CMTV journalist Pedro Guerreiro - Good afternoon Cátia, it's true, the questionings are still taking place here at the PJ headquarters of Faro, and indeed after the lunch break or rather during the lunch break, two of the three witnesses that were being questioned here by the Judiciary Police, exited the premises and one of the reacted angrily to the cameras and to the fact that he was being filmed, and ended up being aggressive towards two news teams, including ours and one team from a British TV channel [BBC?]. He "attacked" our cameramen, his camera, images that you can see now in fact [dozens of loops of same footage]. This happened, as I said, during the lunch break, when the witness Joaquim José Marques, who is being questioned here at the Judiciary Police of Faro, when returning from the lunch break to continue to be questioned. This incident took place at about 1:30pm, on the first day of the three days set for the questioning of the eleven witnesses, considered by the British authorities as pivotal for the resolution of this case. The British authorities requested that 253 questions are put to this eleven witnesses, a case that has so far remained unsolved since 2007. The English investigation has the peculiarity of a new leader, Nicola Wall is going to be the new person in charge of the English investigation, at the end of the month [December 22] following Andy Redwood's retirement. On Friday there's going to be a decisive meeting between the Judiciary Police and Nicola Wall, to define what is going to take place in this investigation from then on.

"Throughout the week, eleven witnesses are going to be called to Faro, persons that Scotland Yard has requested Portugal to be questioned."
I hope these are not the same witnesses that Kate McCann wanted questioned back in 2007/08
And if they are British citizens, why don't the British Police interview them in the UK? Why take them to Faro to be heard?
Sorry, but I smell a rat.

Won't they have to be taken to Portugal?

I suppose so, if the Portuguese investigation requires these interviews.
But what is the purpose of these interviews, and who has called these witnesses?
Has Operation Grange found a number of witnesses who are willing to back up the McCann version of events?
Do they want these people to give statements to the Portuguese? or have the Portuguese Police called these witnesses in and allowed NSY to sit in on the interviews?

------------------------------------------------------------------
Like a 'witness' who SAW the burglator 'SMASH, FORCE, BREAK, JEMMY' the shutter as means of entry to G5A, in the McCann 'version' of events?
Which WASN'T!
Like a 'witness' that ACTUALLY 'saw' a 'live' or sadly 'dead' Madeleine AFTER her father did at 9:04pm, 3rd May 2007?
J Tanner DIDN'T!
The Smith's DIDN'T!
Good luck with those two!

Murat taking his lawyer along - WTH!
Might he be expecting some nasty surprises? His action of towing his lawyer along is not in accord with his saying he's more than willing to answer questions to help Police.
A man with nothing to hide and nothing to fear ? Hmmm........ hardly it would appear !
Only arguidos are allowed to have their lawyers present at the interrogation. He already knew he needs his lawyer on stand by - a sign of what's to come perhaps?
It's lucky for him he can afford to lawyer up - OPM does come in handy and he happens to sit on a handy pile thanks to the handy newspapers. The other witnesses didn't have the same privilege.

Going by unfolding development SY can't be looking to arrest any one of this lot of POIs/witnesses anytime soon despite the interview.
If SY's interest in laundry man is because bed and toys were seen present in laundry man's garage and in Joaquim Z because of his criminal past, you'd think they would make use of the dogs to search those respective propertes while they'd the dogs in Portugal, but they didn't even though they believed she did not leave the apartment alive.

This man, Joaquim, he wears dreadlocks, exactly like the man that was seen in the area of the Tapas Bar by Jez Wilkins (and I think by someone else too, I just can't remember who it was). Joaquim used to be a drug dealer, right? Maybe the PJ want to know who were his Tapas customers?

Tell me why there was any need to bring out this man in front of a camera crew just to question him?
Why the media circus? Why do this if he is really a serious - and I mean a serious suspect? why would the police do that?

Over three and a half years of SY doing a review turned into an investigation. It's not good enough.
So many excuses...Jesus, how many ILOR's have been reportedly been sent?
It's a media exercise.
Can someone tell me that SY and the PJ suffer from a condition called ILOR produced by the legal condition?
Can someone tell me that SY and the PJ have absolutely no interest in finding out what happened to Madeleine? Oh, perhaps they can...that'll be due to the corruption in both governments with happy bedfellows.

Steven Carpenter? Joaquim used to be a drug dealer, right? Maybe the PJ want to know who were his Tapas customers? No, not the PJ, but the SY since interest to re-interview him came from SY. It must be more than his customers list that SY want to know. If he was hanging around the resort and Tapas area a lot doing his supplying then he may have been a pivotal witness to the Mcs & friends charade and activities on the 3rd May or even prior to that.

Not something they allowed, it just happened, I should think.
A high profile case like this one naturally will attract media audience.
Unless there's a notification from PJ and/or Court to media urging restraint with a valid reason to seek that restraint, there is no other way the media can be asked to refrain from coverage.
Either, the PJ did not foresee the hugh media audience, or they'd no valid reason to seek media restraint nor wished to do that on behalf on the SY. After all it is the SY's show.
It may also mean this bunch of POI are not believed to be the "perpetrators" by Police and media interest around them won't risk jeopardy of the big scheme of things.
If your interest is in knowing which side leaked to the media, your curiosity is as good as mine but we will never get an answer.

How about:
The PJ allow a media audience to let the world see what a bunch of useless clowns SY are. Basically letting SY confirm their image as international buffoons. Letting them parade their clusterf*ck of arguidos - and letting those on the list vent their anger at the morons in charge of OG.
SY need a media audience to ensure maximum coverage of the new narrative about 'arguidos' and need a procession of dodgy characters - any, all or a combination of which could be the 'abductor'. They also need to distract all attention from the 'libel' trial - a point correctly noted in closing arguments at said trial.

Re: Portuguese Police to Interview NEW suspects
Mr Dreadlock man certainly looked royally p!ssed-off by all the media attention.
Maybe enough to tell the coppers everything he knows about certain people and their 'adult leisure activities and requirements.'
If he was supplying illegal substances, he could offer this information in return for immunity from prosecution.
Dave, one of my mates in the pub was saying last night, that he believes all these men allegedly seen hanging around 5A during that week, such as the one seen by the laundry guy hiding under the stairway, the pimple-faced man, rastaman, the guy leaving one of the ground floor apartments and quietly closing the gate after him, the tall cropped-hair man, etc, etc, were not hanging around waiting to abduct a three-year-old girl ... Dave believes that they were waiting for their turn to go into the apartment for sex with the willing participants who were their for adult fun and games.
Dave reckons apartment 5A was the place most frequently used during the day, hence the kids were always out of the way in the crèches. He also believes that if police checked out the condom sales at the local chemist, they would find they were extremely high, and he said that the Tapas group probably came with loads of 'sheaths' in their luggage for the purpose of swinging.
I asked Dave about the theories that VIPs were involved. He believes that there were some involved who are desperate to keep the fact hidden. He wouldn't elaborate on this, or name any names, although he did say there's a certain 'batchelor boy' who lives about ten miles away from PdL and he wouldn't be surprised if he had taken part.
Dave is also of the opinion that the high-level cleaning which took place in apartment 5A was not only to wash away traces of poor Madeleine's blood and cadavour odour following her death (which he doesn't attribute to paedophilia), but to eliminate any traces of the multitude of men and women who were swinging it to each other therein.
As I say, the above is me reporting the opinions of my mate, Dave. And I must point out that he said this following three pints of Crème de Menthe with Black Sambuca chasers.
Cheers (hic) :puke:
