There is a saying and never more so than in my case. 'Becareful what you wish for ,it may come true'.

I was born an only child and readily admit spoilt rotten, whatever I wanted I got. My mother was not so easy to fool but my father would believe every word I said, it was SO easy to lie.

I learnt ,thanks to daddy how to get my own way with men and it helped me through life in more ways than one. Men, they fell at my feet. I was popular in school and one of the top students in college. I really was the Golden girl.

Life then became sweeter , Richard entered my life. I could see my friends green with envy as the good looking Scott ,all be it rough around the edges wanted me. Just me. They say there is one who loves and one who is loved and Richard LOVED me. He loved me so much he followed me wherever I went ,like a love sick puppy. He would do ANYTHING to make me happy.

Time went by, Richard and I married and we really were very happy. We had a traditional wedding and friends called us the 'Golden Couple' the world was our oyster.

However a dark cloud came into our lives , the warmth from the sun was eclipsed, we had problems and felt only raw emotion when told, we could not have the one thing we both longed for, a child.

Luck has always been on our side and both of us, as Doctors, have very good contacts we decided to try IVF. The treatment was a success and our first child would bring us great joy.

Megan was born ,beautiful Megan with her huge eyes that seemed to engulf her face.

But the honeymoon period was short lived. Megan suffered from colic , she would scream for hours, on and on and on...she would not be quiet...nothing I did would make her stop. Finally she would sleep and I would drag myself to bed, exhausted, too exhasuted to sleep and too exhausted to make love to Richard my rough around the edges Scott.

I also knew the lonliness of being an only child and thought a brother or sister for Megan would make her life more fun. What joy ,Megan had both ,a brother and a sister, our little family was complete.

The twins Samantha and Dominic could not have been more different to Megan as babies. They would suckle my breast and then go to sleep happy and content. Megan would scream in the background crying for attention as I tried to feed the little ones. It was a nightmare.

When I think back ,I cannot remember if there was a day or time I fell out of love with my first born. I only know I loved the twins more.

I was at the end of my tether. I tried to explain to Richard how I could not cope and he arranged for family members to help me when he was away at the hospital. It was not supposed to be this way. I was afraid, afraid I would harm my own child.

Family members also fearful and aware of what was happening in our home ,a home that should have been perfect.

The constant battle of trying to control Megan and care for two babies had reached an end.

A family member had offered to adopt Megan. This may sound harsh but it seemed the solution to all our problems. Megan would still be part of the family, she would just not live with us anymore.

Of course there would be details to iron out ,we would have to speak with a lawyer to see if a blood relative could adopt another family member. The news was good, this is what we were told.

A blood relative may adopt a child from another family member, the process is a long one and may take upto two years to complete. But first before adoption takes place the child must become a WARD OF COURT.

We went ahead and Megan after being made a Ward of Court was adopted by my Aunt.

Megan is now a happy and content little girl who will soon be seven years old. The twins know she is their big sister and we have taken advice and will tell them when the time is right why she does not live with us.

Richard and I agree the best time would be when we are all together as a family, probably dining in our own back garden.

This story is pure fiction....or is part of it true?

Wonder how best to verify this is definitely 100% true? thinking

eta - just seen Vaguely's post... not as creepy as publishing photos of your three year old wearing makeup and looking less than happy, in a dubious pose. Not just my and other anti's opinion, but published in the Independent today.

The decision to release images of Madeleine McCann wearing make-up seems misguided

Can the McCanns be thinking straight?

Three years have passed since the disappearance of Madeleine McCann and her parents are determined that the search for her should not slip out of the world's headlines. To keep the story alive, they have just released a moody video, complete with a musical soundtrack, which includes a photograph of the three-year-old wearing make-up and gazing into the camera. It is that image which, predictably, has featured in the media,

It seems a bizarre and unsettling development. Clearly, Kate and Gerry McCann have been living through a nightmare of unimaginable horror and perhaps, even after three years, they are not thinking straight. If so, someone should surely have pointed out to them that, in a case over which paedophilia casts an obvious shadow, it looks downright weird when a photograph which has the effect of sexualising the missing child becomes part of the campaign to find her.

Obviously, the make-up game and the photograph were innocent at the time but, when the private picture is released into the public domain in these circumstances, something altogether nastier kicks in.

What was the point of this exercise, apart from getting more news coverage? At a time when there is justified concern over Primark selling Little Miss Naughty padded bras for eight-year-olds and allegations that Playboy brands are being aimed at the primary school market, the circulation of this can only feed prurience of the very worst kind.

Maybe it was a misjudgement, but it confirms a niggling sense that the McCanns' publicity–at-all-costs campaign has seriously lost its way.

I wasn't making a comparison Ruby.

There's a lot of things it's less creepy than. It's still a creepy past time though

Of course it would be better for the authors purposes if Madeleine had been made ward of court before she disappeared.

Not at all keen on the OP tbh, finding it quite difficult to see the point - Anyone care to point it out to me?

I know all about the struggling mum, supposed suggestion of adoption, ward of court ect.

just out of interest:

Wardship is a fairly rare bird these days. Its effect is to empower the court to make such orders as are deemed necessary for the protection of the child. This may seem a bit odd in respect of a child that is missing and may be dead, but wardship is quite often used in such circumstances - the court can make whatever orders are considered necessary to locate and return the child, and this is exactly what the McCanns are seeking. On the face of it, it does seem to make sense - surely the more people that are looking for Madeleine, the greater the chance that she will be found (assuming, of course, that she is still alive)? On the other hand, a cynic might say that the application is just a smokescreen - an attempt by the McCanns (who are, of course, suspects in the case) to indicate their innocence.
