A Estrela de Madeleine - advice please
Hi
I have just been reading some chapters from this book. It's written in such a warm way - really interesting to get this viewpoint.
Anyway, in last chapter it says: 0- can someone explain the meaning of the 5,2,3 and 1?
Also, reading the chapter on Madeleine's relationship with father and mother was very interesting... regarding the screaming matches between mother and daughter heard from within 5A. Worth a read for anyone who hasn't yet looked at these chapteres..
João Tavares looks away from the ocean for a moment, and looking at Francisco, he says:
- I don’t usually bet on Euromillions, my friend, but if I ever did, there would be at least four numbers where I would place my little crosses, to hit the winning key. And I bet that at least I would get those four right. As a matter of fact, I would even call it the Luz key.
Those would be the 5, the 2, the 3 and the 1!

Re: A Estrela de Madeleine - advice please
I remember that at the begining of the case, there was a publication aboutt the rows between Kate and Madeleine.
It was heard by a neighbour of 5a. Both were shouting to each other at the end of the afternoon. I never saw it back.
I don't rememberr who the neighbour was and I don't know if it is true.

Re: A Estrela de Madeleine - advice please
The bit about the sperm donor card was freaky. The book gave me the creeps in a few places actually. I guess it's weird that a sunny holiday resort is about the least spooky place you can imagine, yet here we have this horrible case with probably nothing short of absolute evil at the heart of it. The incongruity of it is almost the worst part.

Was reading up on your post HelenMeg and found an older thread with some more discussion in it:-

From the fragments I have read 'the 5, the 2, the 3 and the 1!' does look intriguing. I agree it does seem like bit of a cliffhanger for a sequel but surely it must mean something.
I haven't read the whole thing, does anyone know where to buy a translated copy or online?

I think the incongruity is why some people still believe in the innocence of the pathetic parents.
I remember my first about it on the morning of the 4th of may 2007 was: "I hope for the sake of my faith in humanity that the parents are not involved".
Of course now we know better, and I am a bigger misanthrope.
The damage this conning couple with their disciples have done to the cause of missing children is enormous. But hey "Missing Children" still think they are good money makers.

I take it that you wouldn't buy a second hand buggy from this charming and engaging couple, then, IJ

No, indeed, and no good quality wristband either!
