why criticising the Met police?
Why are people criticizing the Met police whilsh we all know that they are already getting to the bottom of the review? 20 persons of interest are not much and most of them will be eliminated. We know it and the Yard knows it too.
The Met need a proof that there was no abduction and they have to check on every single person, even if they agree with the PJ's conclusion. It is a review. Not all of those 20 are suspects, the Met know it, but they have no choice than to check on all of them.
In Madeleine's fate, there was not only a small window of opportunity but also a small window in her bedroom.
All in my opinion.

Until the met police interview the Tapa crew people will continue to feel that a whitewash will be the outcome. IMO.
Of course they may have already done so, but we are not reading that this is the case.

Re: why criticising the Met police?
I certainly think that if the Tapas mob had been rounded up for questioning that it would have made the tabloids.
Even if it was only along the lines of SY being as bad as the sardine munchers for daring to suspect them!

Sounds a bit like a public countdown. We're down to 20. 10, 9, 8, 7, ... Coming to get you, ready or not. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

The scenic forensics as the scent on Kate's clothes/behind the sofa ARE THE EVIDENCE of no abduction... IMO of course.

Re: why criticising the Met police?
I think that the police not involving the McCann's or their friends, so far, is a good sign and shows that they are seriously being considered as suspects.
If they were not under suspicion, they would have been interviewed first to see if they could remember anything else and simply to tick all the boxes.
As it stands, by the time they are "invited" in for questioning, the police will have all the evidence, will have a fair idea of what happened and will know who the weak links are within the group.
Just my opinion of course.

It is always struck me that SY have gone about this arse about face precisely because of the previous publicity and media circus around the case.
I would imagine in a "normal" case the Tapas group would have been interviewed first as that is where the conlusions of the archiving report leave the case up to.
However i get the impression they are working backwards eliminating all other possibilites of abduction and gypsies and paedos so that when the time comes for the group to be interviewed the Yard can justifiably say "we have eliminated all other possibilites" leaving the group and their spin machine nowhere to go and no way of spinning it in their faviour.
Seems to me they have learnt the lessons of the way the PJ were comprehensively outflanked in the media by the Team and are going about the investigation in such a way as to not make the same mistake.

What is certain is that since the start of the investigation there were incongruent and even contradictory situations concerning the witness statements; the telephone records of calls that were made and received on mobile phones that belonged to the couple and to the group of friends that were on holidays with them; the movements of people right after the disappearance of the little girl was noticed, concerning the state in which the bedroom from where the child disappeared from was found (closed window? open window? partially open window?) etc., and the mystery would only become even thicker due to the clues that were left by the already mentioned sniffer dogs. - The Words of a JUDGE in relation to the McCanns

From today's Daily Star, by Jerry Lawton
GRAN'S NEW PLEA: I DON’T WANT PEOPLE TO EVER FORGET MY MADDIE
...''Susan said her daughter Kate, 45, and son-in-law Gerry, 44, had kept her
in the dark about the findings of a two-year Metropolitan Police review
of the case.
It has identified more than a dozen new suspects in the
abduction of the girl who vanished from her parents’ holiday pad in
Portugal in May 2007.
Susan said: “Kate and Gerry have been asked by the
Met not to say anything about the investigation.
“They need to do what’s right for Madeleine.’’

Advised not to comment, now that gives me some hope!
