Please use this thread ONLY for posting messages of support for Dr Goncalo Amaral at his trial, starting 13 September.

I've cut-and-pasted the messages of support posted on the 'FORCA GONCALO' thread, and I have now added my own.

I have never had a postal address for Dr Amaral, but do have his e-mail address. However, rather then burden him with lots of e-mails, I also have a wholly reliable contact in Portugal who will quietly be able to print off all the messages here and make sure he knows of them, in time for the hearing.

I have just tweeted a link to this thread in the hope that many will visit here and add their messages of support - Tony

In support of Goncalo and the forthcoming trial:

I was saddened to see the recent images of Goncalo Amaral, the former Portuguese Police inspector, who had the misfortune to pick up the poisoned chalice that was the case of the missing child, Madeleine McCann. I can only hope that his drastic weight loss is the result of dieting and healthy living, rather than the living nightmare he has endured in his quest to find justice for a tiny, vulnerable child who mysteriously vanished from a small, tranquil resort in the beautiful Algarve.

Within moments of the child disappearing, a media campaign, the like of which we have never seen before, began in earnest. With a Sky news channel dedicated to the hastily assembled Team McCann, we were continually fed daily, and sometimes hourly, updates, on the plight of the grieving parents, and the incompetence of the sardine munchers, who were doing nothing to help them.

None were attacked so viciously as the Inspector in charge of the case, who bore the brunt of News International's powerful and sinister, unique brand of interpreting news to the satisfaction of its proprietor.

In September 2007, Goncalo resigned, his career and reputation in tatters. He had no option but to set the record straight, and rightly so. When we leave this world, all that's left is a few trinkets and our reputation, and in the end our reputation is the only thing that really matters.

In his book 'The Truth of Lie' he gives an honest account of the events, as they occurred, in the summer of 2007. An account that tallies, almost verbatim, with the police files that were released following the shelving of the investigation. An investigation that had been seriously hampered by the overwhelming media attention and the scurrilous slurs of a newspaper industry that has since been found corrupt.

Goncalo Amaral was not a police chief with an immaculate uniform and shiny buttons, he worked overlong hours, he jeopardised his marriage, he is human. However, he has never stopped caring about the plight of a lost little girl and his humanity shines through. In his book he is gracious, and compassionate to the parents, he understood their loss, despite the viciousness of their campaign against him.

On 13th September the trial begins. The McCanns are demanding £1.2m in damages from the man whose life they have virtually destroyed. May justice prevail, Forca, strength to you Goncalo.

Oh, that`s so well written Christobell - you have put into words the thoughts of so many of us.

I wish this write-up could be published in the media - its about time people started putting in writing their praise for Goncalo in media articles. In fact, I wish Goncalo could have billionaire benefactors like TM, but it seems most of the billionaires only support dodgey people, but they probably only got to be billionaires through being dodgy in the first place! Your write-up should be tweeted far and wide - can anyone do this?

A Portuguese friend of mine will translate the message. I can vouch for up to twenty by getting friends and relatives to send one, I'll do that by getting the cards and stamps myself and shoving them under their noses to sign and address...

You have fought the good fight for what you believe to be the truth, and have suffered defeats as well as victories. In this case, you scored two notable victories when in October the Portuguese Court of Appeal unbanned your book, and said that you had every right to publish it, due to the provisions of Article 10 [the right to freedom of expression] of the European Convention on Human Rights. Then, 5 months later, the Supreme Court of Portugal dismissed the McCanns' appeal against the Appeal Court decision. Both courts awarded your legal costs to be reimbursed to you by the McCanns. We are all wishing you similar success in this final phase of this three-year long court case. Good luck from all your supporters in Britain.

Dr Amaral, you have my very best wishes for your forthcoming libel trial and I join all the others in sending you masses of good luck. We all admire you.

Very good luck to you Gonçalo in your upcoming trial. When you have won this case then surely it must be your turn to take the McCanns to court for every evil thing they have done to you and your family simply because you tried to find out the truth of what really happened to their three year old daughter. It is shocking that they have used donations which were given to their fund in good faith to 'search' for Madeleine to pay lawyers to try to destroy you and Tony.

Maddie deserves justice from a criminal court, not libel court cases, and I hope you have the strength to keep going until that happens. Maddie has shamelessly been used by the UK media, the UK government and her own parents for every other reason than to actually 'search' for her.

Surely you, like Maddie, will never be able to be at peace until those who know what really happened to her receive their punishment.

Many of us have been here for 5 years already following this case and, primarily because of Eddie and Keela and the release of the official police files into the public domain which led the British and Portuguese police to conclude that Maddie had not really been abducted but had died in the apartment and her corpse concealed, many of us will still be here supporting you and, of course, Tony in whatever way we can.

The shameless and obscene exploitation and marketing of the death of three year old Maddie McCann by her own parents for money must stop and the only person now who really has that power, surely, is yourself. It's simply no good for us to rely on New Scotland Yard, or our gagged 'investigative' journalists, or even our past and present governments, who have proven to us how corrupt they are by taking orders from the arrested and charged former newspaper CEO, Rebekah Brooks, whilst at the same time denying justice for a three year old British girl.

Madeleine Beth McCann: a three year old British girl who, unfortunately, is now surrounded by corrupt / lazy / gagged journalists; corrupt police; corrupt governments; private investigators who are in jail for fraud; a double glazing magnate who intimidated witnesses; suspected paedophiles; a government-appointed spokesman who tells downright lies for money; the most feared libel lawyers who give out wrong information; and many other unsavoury characters too numerous to mention.

If anyone recognises themselves from the above listed descriptions then ask yourself if your conscience is really clear about what you have done for Madeleine Beth McCann as opposed to what Gonçalo Amaral has done, and continues to do, for her.

In the coming days please know that each time you take a breath you are inhaling courage and fortitude. Each time you exhale know that you are only dealing in truth which is the simplest path when dark things try to cause chaos. Be proud you are a person of principle. Fight with every bone in your body to make sure the truth is the only thing that matters. Refuse to be intimidated. Take comfort in your support. Take comfort and strength in the prayers for you. If someone in a courtroom tries to assassinate your character tell yourself that no-one has permission to be perfect. Perfection belongs to a higher power. Although a regular follower of this brilliant "site",this is the very first time I have posted anything,but ,Mr Amaral ,like Tony Bennet,are victims of two despicable "humans" Kate and Gerry MaCaan,the very thought of them winning a £/euro from either one of these men,makes me so,so angry,not just with them but even more so with the mindblowing "cover up", and the times we,ve watched so called celeberaties say,"but we,ve all done it",in regard to leaving 3 babies babysitting themselves,oh really!!!! well not in my world. Anyway,I digress,my sincere good luck wishes go to you Mr Amaral in the coming weeks!!!

It has been a long 5 years for most people on this forum, but I don't think anyone on here can imagine how long this 5 years have been for you.
They will never be able to get away from the truth as you know it, sad as it is though, honesty has become an ideal that has no place in their lives.

Snr Amaral, I made up my mind about you from watching you on video, hearing you speak and reading your book online. My instincts told me you are a good man and I trust my instincts completely. Those same instincts told me just as strongly that the McCanns are not good people at all.

I wish you luck in your defence of your right to voice the conclusions that you, of all people, are entitled to arrive at from the factual evidence at your disposal.

You must at times have thought you were going mad. I hope it helps to know that people like us are behind you and have faith in your intelligence and decency.
