Hislop was brilliant. As good as he is on "Have I got News for You" and considering it was largely unscripted, was hilarious. The bits he had prepared in mental draft brought the house down.
(Incidentally, look at the cartoon on p 17 of the latest edition)

Yes he was!!! But perhaps doddering 'fragrant Kate-worshipper' Leveson does not lower himself to watch HIGNFY! Looking forward to watching it all again!

Not much, used to buy it all the time, now just the odd edition. I bet they have a fair old file on the case though.

For the members who haven't a subscription, do you mean this one?:
Teacher to the pupils " F**k**g tosser is an oxymoron, Have we not taught you anything?"

Why choose that particular combination of words to lampoon?
Why not use F*** W ****** , which hoi polloi, or the peri-oikoi would probably use more frequently ?
Why choose those exact words ?
Why put it in this edition ?
For those of you who sadly do not subscribe (you get a very nice coffee mug if you do !) the cartoon appeared on page 17, on the page devoted to "Letters to the Editor", (one Ian Hislop)
It was apropos of nothing. Just a cartoon out of any context, chosen by the editor, and placed at the bottom of an otherwise fascinating but irrelevant page - with great care.
Does it give us a hope, now that whatsisname the other day said publicly and on the record so that everyone should know, - there were still questions about the McCanns, -that the great British FREE press is ready to pounce ?
Or not?
I trust Private Eye. I am certain, so that I am sure, beyond a reasonable doubt, that they have the 18 page pull out supplement already written for the exact moment when Carter-Ruck find themselves back under the stone, out/under from which they crawled, and resort to counting their money in private.

LOL! For me, alas, it is getting far too close to being *part* of the establishment. Where is Peter Cook??? And the other founder, wasssisname??? Private Eye SHOULD be a kinda uber bi-weekly NOTW, something the celebs and crooks and troughers should be AFRAID OF!!!
Why, if they really do believe all the 'anti' evidence (and I'm not sure they do, or rather they DO (like Dara O'Everywhere?), but they know where their bread is buttered, did you see much in the Eye about the 7/7 fairytale, the 911 fairytale, the Menezes fairytale, even the recent riots fairytale, kicked off by Police ammunition, then all cops UK-wide told to stand down??? A set=up, social engineering, priming us all for phase II), why don't these hacks use their on-staff on-retainer lawyers and push and push it right to the legal limit, without getting sued?
Paragraph has been deleted
(My apologies, but I was VERY careful, you cannot libel the dead.)
It is pretty obvious to me that PEye is fake, talks a good story, but ultimately, like a Chines meal, you are still left feeling hungry! All the real digging and sleuthing is on the net. Yeah good jokes, good banter in the letters etc., but for me a bit of a toilet rag, to be kept handy, something to read whilst waiting for the prunes to work!!!
Cook would be rolling in his grave, yes, he is an idol of mine, and not perfect, but I cannot imagine him being happy with the wet blanket the Eye has become!
Sorry for the rant, but I think they need to get their act together or they will be going under very very soon IMHO.
They might want to try getting a SCOOP once in a while, instead of just taking the piss ad infinitum.

Re: Ian Hislop
Trouble is, unless you have flagellated yourself to death with the bewk, precious few, even amongst PE readers, will get the significance of "Fuhhing Togger" - "they have the 18 page pull out supplement already written for the
exact moment when Carter-Ruck find themselves back under the stone, out/under from which they crawled"
Yeah, but then it will be too late. Every paper and his dog will be doing 30 page pull-outs!!!
The PRO-McCanns have ALREADY got their 30 page MARTYR pullouts ready!!! They will have DVDs ready, and 5 million book deals ready, movie deals with IMG, wait and see
The whole govt/Tavistock spin machine will be "managing" and "massaging" the fall-out!
Private Eye or some newspaper with cojones needs to go public, NOW, before the paperback bewk is inflicted on the world - PE could do something very much like Mr Bennet's "60 questions to ask yourself," do it in such a way as not to be Carter-Rucked.
It IS possible, but then I am not a lawyer, thank God!!!
In the old days PE would have taken on the likes of peewee Clarence Mitchell. Not anymore.
Hislop is getting far too cuddly on TV, doing his, what is it, 3-4th documentary for the BBC on his pet subjects?
Has he been bought?
