LEFT/RIGHT HANDEDNESS OF ABDUCTOR
I saw something on the internet which said that the abductor would have had to pick Madeleine up with her head on his right arm because of the way the bed was positioned in the apartment. The drawing of Jane Tanner's suspect shows the abductor with the child's legs showing on his right side of his body. It could be argued that he turned the child around to hold her more comfortably. However, it got me thinking. Anyone else got any ideas on the handedness of the abductor?

The only 'left-handedness' that I have noticed in this case is with Kate. She was holding a carving knife in her left hand, in the photo of Maddie blowing a candle out on a cake in the kitchen at Rothley Towers.
However, and I'm right handed, if I were to carry a child flat out, I would still carry the child's head to my left, to use my right arm to open doors etc. to leave the scene of the crime as effortlessly and undetectably as possible. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Yep absolutely, I am right handed and I always hold my grand daughter on my left - hip and arm. As you say it keeps right hand free, I rock the pushchair with left hand , so right hand is free and so on and so on. If you are carrying something I would say you would instinctively carry it in the opposite hand to that of which you would use for writing etc. I put handbag in left hand or on left shoulder. Just an obs. though.

I don't believe for one moment that there was an abductor, but let's imagine Kate or Gerry were to take a sleeping Madeleine from her bed and outside through the wooden door.
They would lift Madeleine and cradle her so her head was by their right side, but she would have had to be almost upright or they would have banged either her head or feet on the bedroom door jamb as they went through, which would have woken her. Then they go through the bedroom door and turn left to approach the wooden door. The keyhole and latch are on their left so they would use their left hand to open the door and go through closing it.
Turn left along the little path, turn right to cross the car park then right again to cross the road where a sighting was reported to have been made.
And sometime during this journey the carrying position was changed so the feet wereon the right side of the carrier.
