Biotechnology in Agriculture Empty Biotechnology in Agriculture

Post by Smokeandmirrors 20.11.11 15:36

The discussion about MM dna or lack thereof, reminded me of a TV programme I saw many years ago.

For over 20 years there has been a technique used in agriculture (Google biotechnology cattle production - loads of stuff to browse). When a farmer has a particularly fine bull or milk heifer, that in theory they could make a lot of money from in terms of offspring there is an expensive method. On the programme I saw years ago, they showed that from harvesting sperm and eggs from phenominal beasts, they did a sort of IVF. When they had the "fresh" embryo, once it had grown to 16 cells it was then under a microscope split into 4 clusters of four cells. From one fertilised egg they demonstrated how they could create four IVF pregnancies in cattle, ideal for reproducing prize winning bulls.

This has been going on for a long time and no doubt methods have improved and so on. This accounts for only about 5% of livestock production due to costs.

Makes you wonder what happens "behind the scenes" with human embriology, and -ahem- IVF? In today world with the right "connections" I guess anything is possible.

Interesting post smokeandmirrors.

Who knows how a far these crazy psychopaths have gone. I feel justified in calling them that, they play God with nature and certainly not for the benefit of mankind. One thing's for sure, they're a lot more advanced with their technology than what they ever let on to us. I would dare say human clones have been walking amongst us for a good few years. That may sound daft to some but when even the mainstream media are starting to expose
these groteseque experiments, you have to question how far this has all gone and what are the freakin' consequences? Oh brave new world!

I was only reading the other day about a prize-winning competition horse and rather than keep her out of events while she had foals, her embryos were implanted into other mares so she could carry on competing.

Its a frightening and selfish thing when they start messing around with nature and more often than not ends in tears IMO.

Human cloning absolutely goes on. Or at least an attempt at it. There's a research article by Illmensee, K.; Kaskar, K.; Zavos, P. M titled 'Efficient blastomere biopsy for mouse embryo splitting for future applications in human assisted reproduction.' which explains exactly how human cloning is entirely scientifically possible yet socially & morally unethical (darned ethics committees!). There's even a company set up by the author of mentioned article offering this exact service: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Is this why Madeleine's DNA could never be reliably found & tested? Would her DNA profile be linked on some database which would show others with the same genetic profile?

But with such huge risk to scientific research and massive can of worms ready to explode everywhere, why the immediate rush to involve the media, why risk allowing such a controversial truth to be exposed?

I think this was their only option Lady Heather. If they came clean with the truth at the start then the impending investigation would have had to have revealed the truth. By using the media to make an abduction story, this as been proved has for many years, deflected away from the truth and the majority of the public believe that there was a Maddie and that she was taken, so its worked till now

Also, it serves Mark Warners interests for an abduction rather than a child death on their books. They had just bought into Ocean Club and would stand to lose a high amount and probably their ATOL license if there was a child death. An abduction would get them out of it

Just wanted to add that a body would have revealed the truth with autopsies etc, whereas no body reveals nothing and is pure speculation in the media. Using the media makes the abduction story more convincing and people generally believe what they read or hear in the news regardless

I 100% agree that the abduction 'story' had to be the way to go, and that for whichever reason her death/body must never be discovered. I just couldn't fathom why it was made so high-profile media-wise, and why they continue to court the media they way they do. Why the book, why the fund etc? It made more sense that the problem of the body would just need to 'disappear' and the whole unfortunate situation should be allowed to die down and become forgotten about. Unless of course the media's help was needed to keep the public (and UK police/governments?) on-side and discredit anyone who so rudely questions their version of events. Indeed the power of the media has been discussed for decades by psychologists and philosophers, with some who believe that all recorded history is potentially a work of fiction, according to which version of events you are told or which reports you read.

I think you're on the right track Lady-Heather. I think the press have been used as a means of obtaining money for the fund, via manufactured out of court settlements.

Stella, they've made millions from their daughters death and haven't spent much of it on the search and have wasted money on rubbish detectives etc. I wonder why the McCanns haven't used the money to upgrade their house and have a better lifestyle? They're still living in the cul de sac in Rothley aren't they?

Maybe they're saving the money to pay Amaral [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I'm one of those believers Lady_Heather. History is always written by the victors. To me the media are just another arm of government. I seriously believe the media were (are) used to divert, distract, and confuse the public, much to the advantage of the Mccann's. We were given enough intrigue, scandal and gossip about the case to keep us occupied and distracted for years, but nothing that in any way points to the 'truth'. It's all "Look over here, here, here! - don't look over there"

Happychick, I think they are anticipating paying Amaral a great deal of money. Fingers crossed!

No doubt they want that NSY whitewash in the bag asap.... particularly since their (cough) search teams have been mostly all crooks - and crooks have no loyalty. Tick tock! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

I don't think they ever had all this money happychick. Their legal fees, their travel and accomodation and no doubt their mortgage have all been taken care of for them. It's all a pretence in my eyes.
