Who owns ITV ?

Are they connected to the Murdoch's in any way ?

Many of their deciples such as Fiona Phillips and Lorraine Kelly, to name but a few, have fully supported the McCann's version of the events.

I don't know how twitter really works. That tweet is actually coming up as ITV, and not re-twittered by someone else - am I correct in that? I have noticed that since 28th July that keeps coming up in the latest tweets, how does that happen. Can someone explain how twitter works?

I just knew there would be something connecting these two.

From 2008

The billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch today railed against British regulators for dealing a "huge injustice" to BSkyB over a potentially costly bust-up surrounding the broadcaster's minority stake in rival ITV.

Speaking at the annual meeting of his News Corporation empire, Murdoch attacked the Competition Commission for ordering BSkyB to cut its 17.9% stake in ITV to less than 7.5%.

"The purchase of those shares in ITV was totally within the law," said Murdoch. "It's a huge injustice that Sky has suffered and it's still subject to court review."

The commission decided last year that BSkyB's substantial interest in ITV was anti-competitive and against the public interest. The ruling was backed by the former business secretary John Hutton and it was upheld by an official appeals tribunal last month.

Murdoch told investors that BSkyB ought to be able to own up to 20%, citing a ceiling imposed by the 2003 Communications Act.

He said he issue had been "parked up with various quangos and committees" and was not yet final. BSkyB is considering whether to take the issue to the appeals court.

BSkyB bought the stock for £940m two years ago to foil a takeover of ITV by Virgin Media. It has been forced to write down the value of the investment by £616m because of a plunge in ITV's share price and BSkyB executives are deeply reluctant to sell at a depressed price.

Addressing shareholders at New York's Hudson Theatre, Murdoch delivered a gloomy assessment of the global economy, acknowledging that the credit crunch has "weakened advertising markets and beaten down our share price".

He insisted that News Corp's diversified interests and strong balance sheet left it well prepared for a downturn but said: "2009 may be a year of unprecedented challenges - we cannot fool ourselves into pretending otherwise."

There was little dissent among the 50 or so investors present except for a question over the appointment to News Corp's board of Natalie Bancroft, a 28-year-old opera singer, to represent the Bancroft family which sold the Wall Street Journal to Murdoch last year.

An Australian shareholder activist asked if the meeting could hear from Bancroft on "what values she adds to the board", while another investor questioned whether she would stand up to her all-male, middle-aged boardroom colleagues.

Murdoch replied that Bancroft, who lives in Europe, had already visited all branches of the company, saying: "She's one of the most diligent new directors I've ever seen."

Speaking to the Guardian at the meeting, Bancroft said her tender age was a strength: "I'm young - this is a company driven by a younger market. I think I bring a youthful perspective."

She declined to say how much time she was devoting to News Corp: "I'm not calculating it in terms of days per month. I'm spending time on both of my jobs."

Good find Stella thumbsup

Interesting to note how the presenters go from one to another. We had Eamon Holmes going from ITV to Sky, and that blonde newsreader (who's name escapes me) went to front ITV News at Ten. Also another newsreader from Sky went to GMTV. Just to name three swaps.

The one that concerns me who I think has been put in place deliberately to deal with all McCann news and as a political mouth piece, is that Cordelia Kretchmarsh sp.?

Watch her closely. She was having a dig at the girl in the Murdoch meeting, for having really bad hair. Just a dig, but why?

Now TIME is stating Madeleine has been sotted in India on twitter and in the tweet it has the same strange blue symbol in the bottom left corner that ITV had in their tweets. I wonder what that means? I tried clicking on it to see what happened, I hope that wasn't the flick switch for another 100 tweets. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Cordelia's Biography

Cordelia Kretzschmar joins Daybreak from GMTV where she had a front row seat to major world events for seven years. In 2003 she became one of the first journalists to report live from inside Iraq while embedded with the military, and has since returned there five times over the years - most recently to Baghdad with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

While at GMTV, Cordelia spent three years as US correspondent, where she covered the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, interviewed Tony Blair on his final visit to the US as Prime Minister, and quizzed US President George W Bush at the Whitehouse. Cordelia also interviewed many major Hollywood stars in the US, including Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise.

In 2008 Cordelia reported widely on the national effect of the credit crunch, and recently reported from Belfast on the riots for GMTV and ITV News. In 2010, Cordelia took a lead role in the coverage of the General Election, interviewing the Prime Minister several times, as well as reporting for ITV news from the Labour Headquarters.

Cordelia’s career in television news began at ITN. She reported for the News at Ten from New York in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks, and on the death of Princess Margaret.

PIERS Morgan has signed a new £2.6MILLION deal with ITV - after quitting his job on Britain's Got Talent.
from September 2010

The whopping two-year exclusive contract follows a £12million deal with US channel CNN.

Last night sources confirmed that Piers's new ITV deal will see him trouser £1million each year for 12 editions of his chatshow, Life Stories - netting him £84,000 a show.

He will also front six other unspecified shows in the mould of Piers Morgan On... and will bag a further £55,000 for each of these, netting him an extra £330,000 a year.

As a further incentive, he will get £5,000 for every show that does well in the ratings.

A show insider - who confirmed Piers has quit BGT - said: "ITV are mad keen on Piers and he has told them he can fit in his Life Stories show around his new CNN gig.

"He can't do Got Talent though, so he's had to give that up but I think he knew he probably wasn't going to get asked back next year anyway.

"But he will be doing American's Got Talent, so he'll still have his fair share of idiots."

Piers, 45, announced plans to move to New York and replace Larry King as the key talk show host on cable channel CNN last week.

He takes over in January on an initial two-year deal worth £6million a year.

An ITV source said yesterday: "We're delighted to have secured Piers for another two years.

"Unfortunately he will not be around to do Britain's Got Talent but this gives us a good opportunity to refresh the panel."
